If the parable of the Good Samaritan was updated to reflect current WT thinking, the Samaritan would just cross to the other side of the road and get on with his day. Afterall, the injured Jew had "special needs".

Child Shunned by Jehovah's Witnesses International Convention, Melbourne, Australia (17-19 October 2014)
by jwleaks indocuments and media releases relating to the shunning and discrimination of a special needs child by jehovahs witnesses in relation to the melbourne international convention, 17-19 october 2014. the following documents and press release were received by jw leaks in relation to the jehovahs witnesses international convention at etihad stadium, melbourne, australia.
it is understood that due to last minute information in relation to the administration and control of the first aid health services at the convention the following press documents had not been released to the media.. prior to publishing and releasing the following sensitive information, the members of the team at jw leaks made formal inquiries with the victorian workcover authority (vwa) and the administrators of etihad stadium (melbourne stadiums limited) as to whether measures have been put in place to prevent the jehovahs witnesses and watchtower bible and tract society of australia from operating any first aid health services and first aid department in alleged breach of applicable health and safety laws.. we were assured that the jehovahs witnesses will no longer have control of the first aid management at the event but that st john ambulance first aid officers will be on site for each of the three days.
it is our understanding that this was done for the purpose of protecting the health and safety of all 70,000 daily patrons and delegates attending the convention.

Jehovah's Witness - not coined by the Judge
by berrygerry inreceived "thy kingdom come" in the mail today.. (i had told my wife about russell using pyramid measurements to come up with 1914. she essentially called me a liar, so i bought the book on ebay).
"a few year's (sic) after prof. smyth's return, came the suggestion that the great pyramid is jehovah's "witness."".
(probably old news on this site, but new to me).

Magnum: I still can't believe there are so many JWs who know so little about the history of JWdom
It's precisely this ignorance, along with a morbid fear of investigating what is in their own literature, that keeps JWs completely (and voluntarily) in darkness.
Researching WT literature was singularly the greatest factor in waking me up to what this religion (cult) is all about and my immediate exit.

by 4thgen inhello all, as you know, when jw tv was announced, our board went wild.
many comments, much speculation and alot of negative feedback on the quality, etc.
well, what has me concerned is that i have not heard a peep from any of my connections left in kingdom-land.

Just a guess, but charging $17,000 per day for JWs to use a mortgage-free Assembly Hall adds up quickly...

JWs don't need to worry about it. As long as they attend all the meetings, go out in service regularly and pray, Big J will save 'em. Death by Ebola is only for "worldly" people.

Coded Logic: 900 you say? Well that represents less than 1/50th of 1% of the worlds scientists.
Practically the majority in Perry World.
punkofnice: So what? There's still a flat earth society.
Are you suggesting the earth is not flat, punkie?

It seems Perry has not distanced himself from WT mentality as far as he thinks he has...

how can you not understand the basic arguments of the people who disagree with you?...can you not think at all skeptically about what you are presenting as 'evidence'?..

One Day assembly in Arizona- $17,000 !!
by AndDontCallMeShirley ini heard from a reliable source that a one-day assembly in arizona last weekend had a "cost" to the publishers of $17,000.. predictably, the elders were nice enough to obligate the attendees to a $6,000 donation to wt before the assembly "costs" (i.e.
"rent/extortion) were even met.
$11,000 rent plus $6000 in extra "donations".

This goes back to there is a per publisher cost added to the overall cost of the assembly.
Since the circuit seems to always send any bank balance/excess funds to WT, and the elders always vote to send several thousand dollars to WT every assembly, the "per publisher" charge is almost moot. The way WT has things arranged, beginning and ending any assembly with a deficit is business as usual and there's simply no arrangement for carrying a surplus of funds to be applied toward the next convention.
I wish JWs would begin to vote with their wallets and just quit donating...

The interesting thing is that many of the congregations in the northern part of the state have opted out of using the Ass Hall-it's too far to travel. They still have their assemblies in rented facilities like high schools, etc.
Guess what? No annouincement is made at those assemblies stating a specific cost for the facilities and what is expected for donations.
I speculate this because if they announced a cost of $17,000, too many JWs would simply ask the school administrators what the real rent cost is and easily expose the scam WT pulls every assembly at its own facilities. WT has total control and zero transparency at its own ass halls..which is the way they like it.
