Meeting for not paying assembly fees???!!!!

hey folks......has anyone else heard of, or experienced this before?.

i visited by parents over the weekend and accompanied them to their assembly....same rubbish spoken about since ive been born....obey the gb, donate your last penny, no education and be a pushover.. anyways, our assembly hall has lush vegetation and scenery, so i was more focused on that....i started dozing off after lunch, so got up and went walking, saw some older folks from the congregation i grew up with.. upon the conclusion of the assembly, wed normally leave out right after the prayer ends so as to avoid the traffic.

however, for this assembly he told me that hes gonna be a few minutes with the elders and branch representatives...so a few minutes turned into an hour..

they were told that their congregation is way behind in their contributions/donations to the assembly hall fund…our assembly hall is up for sale and we’re expected to revert back to renting stadiums ect

I'm a little confused. If your circuit is selling the ASS Hall and reverting back to using secular facilities, why would JWs be donating to an Ass Hall fund?

Is this tied to the new "donation" (tithing) arrangement? Or is WT continuing to maintain a local Ass Hall fund for a future project?

If I was an Elder sitting in that meeting, my first question would be: "What happens to the money coming from the sale of our Ass Hall? Why are we donating to an Ass Hall fund when we'll no longer even have one? What exactly are we donating to?"

BOTR: I have better things to do. It takes time to read documents. No legal case is ever presented accurately on this forum.

If you don't 'have time' to read the court documents, how would you know what's being said here is inaccurate?

I know you claim to be an "attorney". Is this an example of how you lawyer? You don't read anything but make wild guesses and sweeping, uninformed statements?

The WT lawyers are suspect to me as lawyers. They graduated from a four year college and law school.

Yeah, but Jehovah will "finish their training", so a mere four years of University is irrelevant in JW BethelLand. Plus, they read the WT and Awake, which is like having a second college degree.

What type of person can section off their mind and believe the massive lies of the WTBTS

To be fair, only one of those kids is a future pioneer/servent/elder.

My guess is it's the drunk kid on the far right who's taken way too many blows to the head and eats paint chips. What a fine elder he'll make...

Why don't parents of an abused child go straight to police, why go to an elder first??

i hope i don't come across as judgemental but having read a lot on the current child abuse cases and the different threads on here, i am left wondering why on earth a parent of an abuse victim would go to an elder with the problem first and not straight to police?.

as a parent myself i know that if anything like that happend to my child (this applies to when i was still an active jw as well as now) i would not hesitate in going to the authorities as soon as i found out, it wouldn't of crossed mine or my husbands mind to go to an elder.

maybe after we had reported it but definitely never as the first port of call.

This applies only until WT needs something from the world...then suddenly it's a wonderful resource.
