He used the example of fantasizing about having every need taken care for you, with zero responsibility.
This describes WT leadership perfectly.
have you had the pleasure of hearing this doozy??
i believe it was presented at the circuit level first, it has filtered it's way down.. the poor eldub opens with this definition of the word fantasize:.
"to conceive fanciful or extravagant notions, ideas, suppositions, ect.
He used the example of fantasizing about having every need taken care for you, with zero responsibility.
This describes WT leadership perfectly.
Here's the funniest quote in the Proclaimers book about the 1925 "Millions" campaign:
.
"Though mistaken, they eagerly shared it with others." (Proclaimers, chap. 28, p.623)
.
So I guess it's acceptable to dispense WT bulls**t in god's name...as long as JWs are 'eager' about it.
“Millions Now Living May Never Die” offered hope that many will gain life in a paradise earth after the battle of Armageddon. A talk given at the convention of Bible Students at Cedar Point, Ohio, U.S.A., in 1922 urged listeners to ‘advertise the King and his kingdom.’ This appeal helped the remnant of the bride class to reach more people with the invitation. In 1929...
Note in the 2010 WT that FatFreek quoted, no mention is made about 1925...the year Armageddon was supposed to arrive. It conveniently skips from 1922 to 1929.
Also no mention that WT predicted for nearly 40 years prior to 1914 that 1914 was the year Armageddon would arrive.
And, as correctly pointed out, the original title of the campaign was changed from "may" to the more definite "will".

'No doubt Satan believed the Millennial Kingdom was due to be set-up in 1915...Be that as it may, there is evidence that the establishment of the Kingdom in Palestine will probably be in 1925, ten years later than we once calculated.' (Studies In The Scriptures, Vol 7, The Finished Mystery, p. 128)
"Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old, particularly those named by the Apostle in Hebrews 11, to the condition of human perfection." (Millions Now Living Will Never Die, p. 89)
There can be no more question about 1925 than there was about 1914." (Watchtower, p. 150, May 15, 1922)
"This chronology is not of man but of God . . . of divine origin . . . absolutely and unqualifiedly correct." --Watchtower 7/15/1922, p.217
.
And, after the inevitable failure came, here's how WT describes it now:
"They also thought that perhaps — just perhaps — the "ancient worthies" who would serve as princes on the earth during the millennial era would, at the end of that time, somehow be granted heavenly life" (Proclaimers, ch. 12, p. 161)
.
This quote is completely dishonest. It makes it appear that this teaching was mere speculation with no definiteness to it.

As Ray Franz mentioned in CoC, it's a pathetic situation when grown men have to call Brooklyn to get permission on decisions they should be able to make themselves based on reason and common sense.
interesting admission in today's wt: adam may have understood "day" (as in "in the day you eat from it, you will positively die") to be a literal 24-hour period.
i don't think the wt has ever said this before; the usual emphasis is that jah meant it as a figurative day, a day from his standpoint which is 1,000 years (and the article does state that, later).. however, if adam understood god's warning to be carried out in a 24 hour period, and god did nothing to alleviate that, then who did the lying?
actually, regardless of adam's understanding, the question still stands but moving toward an admission of the use of day in that context to be 24-hours only makes the question even more valid.
A few days could have elapsed between her creation and them sinning
Then that makes the idea of it being a fair test even more laughable.
Of course, all this is moot for the simple fact that the Genesis account never says it was Satan who deceived Eve. It merely says "a serpent". That idea was inserted later by Christians with too much time on their hands and a wild imagination.
I'm not denying that Satan's words could be taken as implying that God is a liar...But JWs are quick to accuse him of lying due to what he implied
It is interesting that JWs will not apply this same standard to their beloved WT/GB as well. Think 1975, generation, etc...a whole lot of "implied"* comments about those subjects from WT.
.
* implied = direct, dogmatic statements with god as their source later claimed to be only implications.
"We cant go door to door in 7 feet of snow!"
I wonder if Jehovah will be able to overlook this? Or, will he just consider them as 'unfaithful', worthy of death at the Big A for not risking their live to go D to D?
Where would JWs be without their meaningless works?
well, no audience contact but i am talking about use of notes.
i always wondered about note taking at conventions and assemblies.
why does this happen?
Sometimes I couldn't tell what the main point was or how it tied to the scripture.
This sums up WT theology in general...
just thought it was funny.
just a shame they couldn't switch the two around.. .
.
Strain out the gnat: Tight pants, yoga pants, spanx, colorful socks
Gulp down the camel: Hiding pedophiles in the congregation
If WT would just put on tight pants like ToMo in Watchtower-Free's pic, they wouldn't be able to hide their pedophiles...

designs: Well there is that cave drawing by Adam for Day
Adam, being perfect, already had an iPad. Obviously.
