Sophia could've lightened her bag substantially by leaving her Bible at home. It's not like she's actually going to use it.

A New Video - Helping kids get ready for service
by sosoconfused inhttp://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/children/become-jehovahs-friend/videos/lets-go-in-service/.
it all seems so playful and cutsie wootsie to an insider i suppose, i am seeing posts all over facebook about how this is just what my kid needs.. this is truly proper food at the proper time blah blah blah blomit blomit vomit vomit... the funniest part is however is that it cuts out at the end by saying "let's practice what you are going to say".. .
why not make the video longer and discuss how you can get an idea for a 6 year old on how to talk to a grown person about how they are going to die unless you study the bible with me..

JULY 15th Study Watchtower - NEW LIGHT IS FANTASY
by The Searcher inthe july 15 study watchtower uses all 4 study articles to try to inculcate into every witnesses' mind that the governing body is indisputably god's sole channel of communication on earth.
to do so, it uses a multitude of scriptures along with seriously flawed un-inspired reasoning.
the foundation stone of this watchtower's blatant agenda is the claim that when jesus used only a few to dispense the physical food to the many, he was setting a principle which would be applied to the distribution of spiritual food after he returned to heaven.

The WTS has a long history of creating speculative "types" out of narrative accounts.
To expand on Ding's point, in the 3-1-81 Watchtower, the same issue that strongly stated in 1981 that the "new light" teaching now in the 7-15-13 Watchtower was apostate thinking, included a long list of types that the WT was claiming pointed without question to the FDS/GB. The list is both absurd and completely irrational. Noah's wife prefigured the FDS; sure, I can see that...NOT ! :

"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear." - Thomas Jefferson
Maybe it is not so much that ex-JWs (or any other religious person) loses faith, but that they simply are unwilling to put faith in things that are questionable or outrightly absurd.
Alluding to Jefferson's quote above, if god exists and is who he claims he is, I'd have to agree he'd have more respect for someone that based their conclusions on provable science rather than on blind faith. If that bothers God, then I'm not sure I'd be too concerned personally whether he likes me or not.

Remember to serve Jehovah because of love not because of a date.
Unfortunately, as a JW that message often gets lost because of the WT's historical obsession with dates and end-times prophecies.
Without it's incessant date-setting what would WT have to uniquely brand itself ? Not much. In fact, I believe it's the date-setting that established the religion- the carrot, of course, being the constant promise that Armageddon is imminent and only WT knows the date. Without fear as the primary motivator, what would draw a person to the Org ?

Its an article that tells you to read articles from them about artciles written by them about reading artciles from them...
This is how WT has always done it. They make a statement, followed by, "for further information please see ___" , which references another WT publication. They'll never refer a JW to literature outside the organization. Facts and unbiased source material tend to muddy the water in Watchtower Land.
It's like me saying the earth is flat, followed by, "for further proof, please see the other books I've written that also say the earth is flat".

"I remember calling the PO at the time and expressed my surprise that such a major change in doctrine woud occur "so late into this system of things"....I was looked at with suspician after that"
Any Jehovah's Witness who thinks critically or uses logic generally get the same reaction.
In Watchtower World, rational thought is like the dopey kid at the Prom nobody's dancing with.

"Any sandwich bar employs relatively "few" to feed "many" customers...what does that prove?"
It's obvious BluesBrother. It proves those deli workers are the faithful and discreet slave ! Or, technically, the deli manager is the faithful slave and the deli workers are the "domestics".
I consider the sandwich artists at Subway to be "god's sole channel" to ham on rye in these last days of the last days.
Give me a few minutes to cherry-pick a parable or two in order to prove it....
I'll post my "new light" momentarily....

Jehovah's Witnesses - The religion for the lazy zealot
by sosoconfused inafter taking a few steps back and really taking a look at the really zealous people and fairly intelligent people i knew in the j.w.
community and adding myself into this lump of people i realized something.
for anyone who wants to be seen as a very religious person - completely dedicated to god(or atleast give that impression to onlookers), this is the perfect religion.. .

Ironically, the WT often accuses other religions, especially in Christendom, of having a lazy faith, whereby the adherents have no personal knowledge, no faith built on personal Bible study, but are merely parroting the words of their leaders.

The 2010 "overlapping" generation change is what woke me up.
The entire DC was hammering home how close the end was, how we were in the last days of the last days, then they have the audacity to roll out the "overlapping" nonsense.
It made a few things clear:
1. As much as the GB likes to pretend they know when the end is coming, they clearly do not.
2. "generation" will be re-defined as many times a necessary, no matter how absurd the definition is.
3. The GB really views the average JW as very stupid- otherwise, they wouldn't even consider such idiotic explanations. It's hard to respect a religion that views its adherents as idiots.
4. The end (if it's coming at all) probably is not coming in my lifetime. I need to live my life now and quit being held hostage by untenable religious fantasies.

The "Flood" in Noah's day--why wasn't that Armageddon enough?
by Terry inthe great day of god the almighty certainly is a fit description for the destruction of men, women, children, grandmothers, infants and puppy dogs in the days of noah.. why didn't destroying everybody on earth except a remnant of 8 count as armageddon?.
i mean, if you are starting all over by genocide--shouldn't it count for more than bad temper?.
what are we missing?.

"My own view is that this was forbidden intermarriage, but between consenting humans."
"One can believe what one will, but angels are not capable of generating bodies and having sexual intercourse with the children of men."
-----
and there you have it.....
You're entitled to your personal views/fantasies/delusions, but that doesn't make them true.
I'm not arguing for the Bible, I'm just repeating what the Bible Flood account says. Speculate all you want- it doesn't change what's written. You don't like what's there so you create something that suits your personal wishes. Such is the nature of the religiously deluded.
