This was my immediate thought also as I read the letter. If HS is responsible for appointing elders, as WT has always claimed, then why change the current arrangement?? Without saying it, WT is revealing they do not believe HS has anything to do with it. Or, maybe they are admitting HS has done a poor job so far and another method must be used.

As if a CO, who visits a cong. only two times a year, is in any better position to appoint a man as the elders who see that man every week.

As pointed out previously, in CoC Ray Franz really revealed the nonsense of this entire 'appointed by Holy Spirit' concept, as the GB simply signs off the paper work on men they've never met and never will meet. Just a name on a page.

It seems to me the two bus crashes last year, one in Africa and the other in the eastern USA, where something like 30 or 40 JWs died, were a "group". They were on their way to the District Convention, you know, the one Jehovah™ told them they needed to attend? Why weren't they protected?

If Jehovah™ cannot, or will not, protect JWs travelling in large groups to a DC, why does anyone think he can/will do it in the future??? (that is assuming, for the sake of argument, Jehovah™ actually existed).

1909 Watchtower Article on Acts 15:28,29

i was suprised to find that the 1909 watchtower had an understanding of the blood ruling that meshes more coherently with the circumstances (galatians 1,2; acts 21:20-32) surrounding that decision.

it acknowledges that these were not binding laws, but rather were made with a preservation of peace between hebrew and gentile christians.

it draws the parallel between blood and meat sacrificed to idols (1 corinthians 8).

To the Jew it was forbidden, and under his covenant it was made a symbol of life - to partake it would reply responsibility for the life taken.

Question: are blood donors killed in order to get their blood? No? Then in regard to blood transfusions, since no life is taken, then there's nothing to give back/acknowledge to god, is there?

This is why a Jew could eat an animal found already dead- since no life was taken there was nothing to 'give back' to god; additionally, an "already dead' body cannot be bled, so the Jew would be eating the meat and blood.

One simple point can dismantle WT's idiotic blood doctrine.

"....today the power of appointment of all servants in congregations rightfully rests with the governing body of the "faithful and discreet slave" class, which is under the direct supervision of Christ Jesus at the temple."

So we can safely conclude Jesus directly supervises the appointment of pedophiles ???
