  What Do Mormons Really Believe? RE: The Nov. 8, 1995 Awake Magazine

  i am a member of the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints, and i have written a heavily-documented response to the official magazine of the jehovah's witnesses, awake!, that claims to teach what we believe.

  i saw an article from last year's watchtower about a guy who had barely been mormon for very long, and obviously did not know what we believe, who was given this magazine by jw's to show him "the truth.

  " he claims to have proven to himself that it was true from information on the lds church's website.

  "honest discussion" to a religious person = their view is the only one under consideration and you must buy into their delusional fantasies while ignoring all evidence to the contrary.

  just found out from my jw mom that the congregations located in the suburbs north of seattle.

  will be renting buses to shuttle people back and forth to the international convention at husky.

  LQ: Yes, I also checked on Seattle hotel prices at the same time I was searcing for the stadium info. The $300/night rooms were for luxury hotels in the area, and there weren't many of them. Most rooms were in the $100-$150 range. As you said, that part of the "experience" is also BS.

  The fact is, that even without "Jehovah's™" help and the WTs crack team of negotiators, JWs still could've easily gotten a hotel room for $140/night.

  But, of course, WT has to spin this to 'prove' how great they are and how much their god Jehovah™ does for them.

  It's already going that way, and WT is escalating its view that anyone, including active JWs "in good standing", who expresses anything "negative" about the Org. is to be viewed as an opposer:

  ".... Let us therefore have nothing to do with apostates or anyone who claims to be a brother but who is dishonoring God. This should be the case even if he is a family member. (1 Cor. 5:11) We are not benefited by trying to refute the arguments of apostates or those who are critical of Jehovah’s organization.   is coming and the elder wanted to set up a visit.

  it's not like i wasn't warned.

  there was a thread that talked about the push to call on inactive ones.. thanks to the heads up here, i knew the motive for the call.. i don't think i even know that eld.

  If they press you, say that what you really need right now is money.....you'll never hear from them again.

  I've had several discussions with Mormon missionaries over the years. After they insist the BM (appropriate, isn't it?) is an improvement on the Bible, and a new 'testimony' revealing Jesus and truth, I would ask them why it quotes a large percentage of the KJV verbatim and repeats the same errors the KJV made?? That would usually get the deer-in-the-headlights response. Either they didn't know that fact or they did and were embarrassed someone other than them knew it too.

  I believe Pol Pot, Hitler and others used the same exact reasoning when they did what they did too. Tyrants always spin their agenda as being a good thing.
