Is Sammie's number really that far out? US statistics from Factcheck.org:

Gun Murders in 2010 - 11,078

Gun Suicides in 2010 - 19,392

Non-fatal gun injuries in 2011 - 55,544

So about 86,000 gun victims in the US per year.

You are using the figures from two different years to arrive at an annual figure.

At least be honest.

Sammie also fails to differentiate what she's talking about. She goes from talking about children/ISIS/killing/murder with firearms directly to the "100,000 gun victims per year" argument. Well, in your figure above (albeit from two different years) it clearly says 55,544 NON-FATAL injuries in 2011. "NON-FATAL" means no one died, therefore it cannot be used in support of any argument alleging that all gun-related incidences lead to death. "non-fatal" also does not indicate deliberate, violent use of a firearm; it can mean a hunting accident or the all-too-familiar story of someone cleaning their loaded gun and accidentally shooting themself, which obviously only supports an argument about how stupid some people can be.

Again, I'm not arguing for or against guns, but it irritates me when people cherry-pick and misrepresent in order to "prove" their point. If you can't do it honestly then stay out of the discussion.

By WT reasoning, once a person has heard "the Truth", they are now responsible. If they reject WT's message, they are a goat and will be destroyed. So, really, aren't Jehovah's Witnesses doing people a disservice by preaching to them?

I get irritated when theists (i.e. "Paris") make specific claims about atheists but never back up their statements with substantiating proof validating such claims.

Yeah, but since sammie's argument is based on "what if" scenarios involving aliens and bogus statistics, how solid is the foundation?

Also, using sammie's fantasy scenario, if an 8 year old ISIS jihadi just shot or decapitated a person for real, you could then have them play Nintendo or watch a movie depicting the same thing...then expect them to say the video game/movie was exactly like the real thing. Ridiculous.

while sitting through a dreadful meeting today, while staring into space, i wondered what is next for jw's now that the "greatest preaching campaign" in the history of mankind is over.

what is everyone gonna be obsessed with now?

who knows maybe the annual meeting?

Disappointment and unfulfilled expectations prove all the more to a JW that they are in the one true religion.
