Jesus’ name, therefore, stands for the majestic and vast executive authority that Jehovah God has entrusted to him.
You gotta love WT's one-track mind...we've got our story and we're sticking to it...

the third bullet point there claims they baptize in jesus name.
i know the baptism questions never mention jesus once.. .

Baptism vows up to 1985 were as follows:
"Have you repented of your sins and turned around, recognising yourself before Jehovah God as a condemned sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the Father, through his son Jesus Christ?"
"On the basis of this faith in God and his provision for salvation, have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to do his will henceforth as he reveals it to you through Jesus Christ and through the Bible under the enlightening Holy Spirit?"
These questions, or vows, were changed in 1985 to the following:
"On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?"
"Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, in association with God's spirit-directed Organisation*? Having answered yes to these questions, candidates are in the right heart condition to undergo Christian baptism."
.
As late as 1955, a person did not need to be baptised by the Watchtower Society to be considered a Jehovah's Witness. Baptism by another Christian denomination was considered valid, provided it was as an adult by full immersion. The Watchtower 1955 Jul 1 p.412 paragraph 20 explained that re-baptism was necessary only if the previous baptism was not in symbol of a dedication, or if it was not by immersion.
It was not until 1956 that baptism by the Watchtower Society became mandatory.
* please note that nowhere in the Bible will you ever find the phrase, "God's SPIRIT DIRECTED ORGANIZATION". So, JWs are being baptized into a fictitious entity...which is appropriate for a pseudo-Christian cult.
elder tells study internet is bad for research.
(watch the video here...).
it might be that the watchtower has embraced the internet in recent years as never before but in private things are the same .watch this video as an elder strongly discourages a study from using the internet to get answers.shameless mind control from the same people who promote in any kind shape and form their version of online truth ,jw.org.. not many years ago they used to demonise the internet as the following quote from july 2007 kingdom ministry shows:.
Yet, Russell is hailed as a "Faithful and Discreet Slave."
He's recently been demoted by the GB to the status of a good brother, that's all.
Of course, the only way a person looking into JWs would know this is, ironically, to do a Google search.
the word in question is the hebrew word mishneh meaning "a double, copy, second" (http://strongsnumbers.com/hebrew/4932.htm) this word is a very specific word, which implies a double portion, or twice as much.. it is numerical and precise.. the new world translation translates this word as double in the below 2 scriptures :.
isaiah 61:7 "instead of shame you will have a double portion, and instead of humiliation they will shout joyfully over their share.yes, they will possess a double (mishneh) portion in their land.
everlasting rejoicing will be theirs.
To pcop:
If all Bible's were created by men, and...
the Bible is the only book that contains the teachings of Jesus....
yet you reject the Bible...
what basis do you have for believing Jesus' words or accepting that he was even a real person?
.
The self-contradictions of theists are dizzying.
so, there was a km part about worksheets for bible studies.
1) watchtarded.
one hilarious part came from a paragraph in the km.
If I am watching my child play on a jungle gym and they are getting ready to do something foolish that could cause their death or maim them for life, do I let nature take its course?
Yes... if you are Jehovah or one of his Witnesses. It's the only loving choice you have.
I don't remember the verse, and I don't care where my Bible is, but it says, 'you who have spiritual qualifications, try to readjust a man before he sins or is even aware of his wrong course'. (paraphrasing)
So, apparently, Jehovah is not spiritually qualified to help anyone, as he does nothing ahead of time... ever.
1) Understand what the Bible teaches.
2) Accept what the Bible teaches.
3) Apply what the Bible teaches.
I'm not sure why WT even stresses this. Why does a JW need to read the Bible? The GB has the only acceptable explanations found in it, so what purpose would there be in a JW actually reading it for himself?
"Listen, obey and be blessed" says it all. A JW is merely required to parrot WT's "Bible" message, not understand it or necessarily even agree with it. If a JW does read the Bible and disagrees with WT's take on this-or-that teaching he has no recourse. He is expected to shelve his Bible knowledge and toe the line... obey like a good little unquestioning robot, nothing more. If he decides to go with his conscience, he will be summarily dismissed and shown the door.
In reality, Bible readers (more accurately, studiers) and thinkers are not welcome in WT World. The Bible is bait for the unwary, not a guidebook.
good morning.
want to attend?.
kingdom ministry school.
A District Overseer told me many years ago- if you are worried -disfellowship them and worry about the appeals committee later.
So much for the theory that holy spirit guides the entire process. What a joke.
who'd have thought it possible?
but that's a headline this morning in the canberra times.. us-cuba diplomatic breakthrough: obama and castro agree to thaw relations after prisoner exchange.
date: december 18, 2014 - 5:37am.
"Directly addressing the Cuban people he said, "Today, I'm being honest with you. We can never erase the history between us, but we believe that you should be empowered to live with dignity and self-determination."
LOL.
i listen to one of these all time in our hall.
she brings it up constantly about how they would do this or that but he has to work that saturday.
i think she should get a job and then he could find a lower paying 9 to 5 job..
That will give you an opportuntiy to apologize, admit you were wrong, remain silent or provide equally compelling data
Don't hold your breath, brother.
has this ever happened to anyone who has been df'd here?
did you walk into a room with a circle of chairs for the whole body of elders?.
shana.
They had also tried to ask my husband to leave but I told them that wasn't happening so they said he could stay. They tried saying his presence would hinder the flow of the holy spirit.
LOL. Poor H.S. ... as ineffective as WT's god.
All because we knew the elders were covering over a guy who committed adultery and admitted it, forged a legal document... posession of an illegal firearm, domestic abuseon his wife and threatening to kill his father whom he had gotton the guns from.
Two months later two of my accusers who were related to the guy that was getting away with all this wicked stuff became elders
Just the kind of men WT is looking for. They'll make fine elders. No doubt appointed by the same holy spirit your husband was allegedly blocking. LOL.
if you are/were an active jw, you are now here on jwn so, for whatever your reasons, you woke up to some degree- hopefully a great degree.
so what i am saying may not apply to you.. i know that if i had not already left, i would have stormed out on the day they studied "overlapping generation.
" i am quite confident i couldn't have stayed for such an obvious switcharoo just to make the end seem imminent and try to explain how wts was wrong, but not entirely wrong in the past.. but i had to wonder how that change (or others) didn't cause most jw's to walk out.
they are too invested in WTS and just have to hang on and believe. They want to believe, no matter how ridiculous the doctrine gets.
"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back." -- Carl Sagan, A Demon Haunted World
