part 2. my wife and i were at a point where we wanted to move closer to our daughter as she was about to have a child.. so we put our house up for sale, and after a few weeks we had a buyer.

as we previously had purchased a block of land in the town we had planned to live in, we needed to rent for about a year till our new house was built.

during that time only one witness family showed any kindness to us.

What's the point?

i mean, i don't want to be miserable or anything, but what's the bloody point of it all?.

since i left the watchtower cult, i have come to realise that god cannot possibly exist...and if a god exists...god is indifferent to humankind as the least.. in 100 years time i'll be gone.

I ask myself this question alot too. WTH is the point? if there are no skittles at the end of the rainbow then why shouldn't I be miserable and malcontent?

But there really is a point. It's better to have lived than to have never existed at all. That's really what it comes down to.

So many of my ancestors (and somewhere down the line you and I share the same ancestors) have struggled against all odds to survive and reproduce so that we could be here now. If, somewhere along the line one of them gave up and died before passing on their genes, I would have never seen the beautiful smile of my daughter, I would have never met the love of my life, never seen the beauty of this planet. Never experienced the awesomeness of alcoholic beverages etc.

Life is incredibly rare and precious. Live it up within your means while you can!

according to ussher god made the earth at 6pm on the evening of saturday 22nd october 4004 b.c.. this naive certainty was to become a victim of the scottish enlightenment and the brilliant mind of james hutton.

having qualified as a medical doctor in 1749 hutton returned to the family farm in berwickshire not far from where i am typing this now.

Thanks Cofty. I find these threads so interesting. These topics are swirling around in my mind as I stroll around the base of an extinct volcano near my house. I think geology and paleontology are going to be my next hobby.

Actively Fading and The Memorial

Up until the memorial last year, I was getting a trickle of texts and Witnesses were stopping by to check up on me. After the memorial (which I didn't go to) people left us alone. No way I'm going this year either, not unless Jesus himself invites me - in person.

Throughout my life I have heard the the statement, "God is in the details." I used to nod my head and think that was more succinctly put than any verse in the bible. Now I find myself laughing at the absurdity of that statement. The more you analyze and study "the details" the harder it becomes to see a benevolent, loving God existing in a universe that is, in one way or another, constantly trying to destroy the miracle of our brief existence.

Consider the Zika virus for example. Who designed it? I seriously hope there isn't some sick muffafluffa up there who designed it. Reality just makes so much more sense with there being no God.

EDIT: I realize that by using the word miracle in my post some creationists might see my post as contradicting itself. I mean miracle in the sense that so many fetuses and babies die before or at birth, So many children die before adulthood. So many adults die before they can make an offspring. To be existing now is a tribute to the miracle that our ancestors, who overcame all odd so that we can be here today to eat, breathe, fart and debate!

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your situation. Me thinks its time you moved away from all the trash living near you and start a new life with your family while doing a complete overhaul of the people in your life around you. Move to a far away congregation and fade. The farther away your wife is from daddy, the less influence he will have over her and you. Don't raise a daughter up around people like them or she will become just like them.
