there was an interesting case on tv the other day about a man whose wife had a child and he believed that this was his child until the wife told him she had relations with another man around the time that the child was conceived.
he was devastated to learn that this child whom he considered his own, might in fact, not be his.. a dna test was done and confirmed this man's worst fear: he was not the father.
if you were in a similar situation, what would you do?
I know someone this happened to. It was a horrible situation. The kid was 4 years old when he found out. This child was the world to him. He did divorce his wife and she actually tried to cut him out of the boys life. That did not fly in court. He actually had the kid more than she does. 60% of the week and I think she has to pay him child support. His feelings never did change toward the child.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.....
hello friends... .
i was wondering if you all could help me with my disassosiation letter... i am planning on writing it tonight, and am looking for scriptures based on "love"... and how the org shows a lack thereof.
any help would be greatly appreciated... .
There is no way I would waste a $.37 postage stamp or printer ink on those pricks. I might tell them verbally "I quit" and then slam the door in their face.
in the past year or so a local congregation has had several announcements that "so-and-so is no longer serving as an elder.".
one of these elders has served in the watchtower organization since the 1940's.
one thing apparent is the "organization's" lack of recognition and/or appreciation for its own.
In my old cong. they would say "Br. X has been deleted as an elder". They would actually use the word delete.
If they were not being punished for anything they would ask them to say the closing prayer.
.
hell... it worked for tink so i though i would try my own request!

Your thread should more accurately have been titled: "In Dire Need Of Tinkerbell82"

i am curious to know how many others shared the same experiences as me as a child, growing up as a jw.. surfing this board has brought back a flood of memories ( i am secure enough to deal with them) not all good.
i have been away from jws for sometime, and remember being a child in school and having to explain why i do not salute the flag, why i have to leave the room when there is a birthday or christmas party, why i had to explain when i was seen going door to door ( i grew up to be a pioneer).
being "different" is hard for a child.. now that i have 3 children of my own, who are fortunatelly not growing up as jw, to see how secure and well adjusted they are in school is comforting.
I remember my mom picking me up from school early when the class would have parties. I hated that. I really wanted to stay. I also hated going out in FS on Thanksgiving and X-mas Day. Nobody wanted to see any dubs at their door and I sure as hell did not want to be there. I go all out on the holidays now.
the elders and the watchtower society are big fans of using "restrictions".
anytime a person has judicial action taken against them, they are imposed with "automatic restrictions".
even if a body of elders felt that a person was too fragile to have any restriction placed upon them, they were required by the society to "restrict" them in something.......were you ever put on restrictions?
I was not allowed to go out in FS but I was never baptized either. There was only so much they could do to me which is why I think they went the no FS route. More restrictions that placed on me the better.
has anyones jw friends or family ever spotted anyone on here who shouldnt be and reported you or confronted you?
how did they work out it was you?
how did you take it, and if you were in good standing at the time, what counsel did you receive?
HI

I loved being on restrictions. I viewed it as a blessing not a punishment.
