Had A Visit Today!

i was in the yard and this car pulled up to the driveway and a couple of jws stepped out.

(one of them was the guy i mentioned the other day who made the unbelievable remarks) the co is in town and they invited me to the kh.

we talked a few minutes and i gave them a few things to think about.

The amazing part is that they absolutely believed it. These clowns think they are being led by the 'inspired'. They have deified the society, its publications, and its leaders.

Sometimes I just wish they could hear themselves talk. Can you imagine taking one of them aside and asking them to read what they had just said? If some other religionist had said that they would immediately denounce it for the sacrelidge it is.

When I was a dub, I believed that new light was brought on by some 'concensus questioning' by the remnant from around the world. This would spur the GB to deliberate on the topic and decide on the new light. That was how it was explained to me.

But probably the most amazing thing to me is that the GB knows that the rank and file believe this crap. They know they are being held up as inspired, collective-papal figures. Yet they get together, discuss, dissent, purge sigificant dissenters, vote, and pass on dicta. That is the epitome of hypocracy and it makes me want to hurl - even all these years later.

This guy is either compensated for this quote, or he is being misquoted, either directly or simply being taken out of context. There is no way that a professor in this man's position would be stating what is being shown, with the intentions that we are to infer. Like someone else said, I think he is just stating a sincere thanks for some free books, and he seems at least as grateful for the small size of the books.

There is no way that a biblical scholar, versed in classical greek, and familiar with the oldest extant Greek transcripts would have left out the hundreds of obvious mis-translations to 'Jehovah.' It ain't there. The divine name isn't there as a carry-forward of the Hebrew Tetragramedon. The divine name isn't there as some translated version to Greek from the Hebrew tetragramedon. Even when the characters in the Greek scriptures refer directly to Hebrew scripture, scriptures containing the Hebrew Tetragramedon, the Greek does not contain the divine name, Greek or Hebrew. There are hundreds of these!

The NWT is a deliberate insuation of the divine name. In turn, this is a deliberate subversion of Christ's place in the Greek Scriptures.

No quality scholar would have missed that.

more useless shunning

my brother and his family have taken it upon themseves to judge my unbaptized daughter (16 years old).

they did not have the guts to tell her personally, but instead chose to do so thru her jdub father (who in turn didn't tell her), and a cousin who did let her know.

this cousin stands by her and remains very close to her.

I swear there is no one more judgemental than the self-righteous. I once read a quote or some such that went something like 'What is worse, evil or self-rightousness? A: Self-righteousness, becase it is untended by a conscience.' You would be hard-pressed to find someone else that would treat your daughter like that. (I read the letter too)

I find it amazing how her father reacted - just didn't tell her. As a father, I know some of the things I've given up for my children - especially my 16-yr-old daughter. Is her father that immasculated by the JW pressure? He couldn't stand up for her? Tell her what she was up against and stand by her? Truth be told, I'm not that surprised - Its SOP for those people.

i know i'm going to get a few "you're an asshole" responses but bear with and read and than decide if i performened a greater good or wrong.. situation:.

i'm driving down the main road to my side street.

i have some retard mom driving a mini-van following me with an 8-10 year old child in the front seat.. i approach a stop light (red) and this bitch (irresponsible parent) riding my ass.

There is a shot that you'll grow up someday. But but that day ain't here yet. I'm sure you'ld like to cast your little story as the great aid you provided to that child in the passenger seat. But I suspect you had your little tough-guy attitude 'how dare she invade my space' and you were going to show her. Or were you surprised, or afraid at how close she was. Funny though, with your tool-cool-for-the-room, 13-inch drilled disks, all activated 'hard' with no other obvious reason, that she could still stop on time.

What if she hadn't Eienstein? What would you do? Your tough guy car with the 13-inch drilled disks that can stop so fast all banged up? Were you gonna get out of the car and get in her face? Yell at her? Get your shoulders all up? Scare the piss out her? - because mommies are always afraid of big tough boys with cars with 13-inch drilled disks! Big favors you're doing for that kid in the passenger seat.

That little event said more about you than the parent.

What thing did you do when you left

mine was martial arts.

Well, these answers were pretty predictable. I was in college and I remember one particular semester when I got on a good run of luck and woke up a lot of weekend mornings in a dorm at a nearby college. In fact my new-found hobby cost me my on-time graduation.

After-meeting conversations

to be able to properly "encourage one another, more so as you behold the end drawing near", we as jw's were instructed to do the following: .

(1) stay after the meeting for "upbuilding association", and .

(2) rather than talk about mundane things of life, discuss the finer points of the meeting just held.

I guess I went to a hall that was a bit different than most - the after-meeting time was the only thing worth going to. We had a load of kids our age and we (boys) were either talking about girls, or to the girls, and sometimes planning our dirt bike rides. It was also the disco era and it was clothes-horse time for a few of us.
