Stormbringer you are absolutely correct. I have noticed that the world events of our day and age have been in complete harmony with plans clearly laid out for us in God's word sooo long ago. It is clear that we have seen Christ's presence since taking kingship over this world in 1799, 1874, 1879, 1914, thereby marking the beginning of the end of this wicked system of things in 1914,
1975 soon.
So, starting today, tomorrow, soon, I'll sell my house. Move back to Franklin. Attend the Kingdom Hall where I can lovingly forgive the two pedophiles that attend there (praise Jah that they can join me in the Witnessing work). I'm gonna buy a bunch of books and magazines to sell. I'll tell my daughter that she will not be attending college. And my son will just have to try to avoid going to the bathroom when there are pedophiles in there.
I could live to my potential: become an elder, enforce made-up rules and see how well I can twist the psyches of the youngsters in the congregation. And maybe, just maybe, someday, I'll get to give a part at a Circuit Assembly, maybe even a prayer where I can lead 2000 people in a plea for freedom from independant thought.
I can see clearly, can interpret most of today's events, think I understand some things, will let the WTS interpret everything for me and I'll take it from there.

One time, while we were fading away, my father spoke to another elder, Jim Partridge, about the topic. Aside: Later on Big Jim was caught servicing where the need was greater with a female co-worker on a business trip. Anyway, my dad got Jim to admit that the whole 'don't go to college' thing was a primarily a recruiting ploy for Bethel.

i need some advice on this one: a friend of mine who is still an active jw called me today all freaked out because another friend of hers, who only got baptized this summer, wants to leave "the truth".
this is because she's been talking to "worldly" people and they've almost got her convinced that the religion is a cult.. .
my girlfriend, sarah says of course, that this is "satan" trying to blind her, etc.
the sooner the better - but in degestable pieces.
I've always thought that one of the glues that holds people there is the amount of time they have been there. The longer the time, the more they would have to admit wasting.
Your friend hasn't put in so much - but if you come at her with both barrels, she may heed the JW warnings.

Back then, Brother Prescott Adams was already pretty old. I doubt he is still alive. He carried some pretty good weight around the area. Others posters from the Franklin MA area can attest to that at least.

In retrospect, it does seem quite out of place with the times. But it really happened. I can only guess that it was at least partially due to the fact that my dad was not a JW and neither he nor my mother finished high school. Getting me thru college had been a life's goal for them both.
So when I approached Prescott Adams PO Franklin MA congregation in the Fall of '76, he agreed and gave me the letter the next Thursday night.

i decided to start this thread, because so many time we go at each other because of difference of opinion.
( myself included ) but yet for me i love this place.
i love the different opionions, they make me think, i love the freedom of expression, the friendships, and the expriences that make this a special healing place.
I have made several 'aquaintances' here and would like to think that they will turn into real friendships over time.
I am impressed with the caliber of some folks - especially in the Research threads. They are kind enough not to beat me up too badly.
I like the shorter, punchier threads. (Deep thoughts make my cheek twitch. If I want fluff, I can talk to my 16-year-old daughter. And I tread lightly around heavy, confrontational ones - I eat too many hamburgers and don't need the blood pressure.)

The PO in my cong wrote a recommendation to college - and it was quite nice. None of the elders ever gave me any grief for going - and this was back in the late 70's.
