  How many here were homeschooled?

  i'm quite new here, so i apologize if this topic has been covered.. the reason i ask this,, i was raised in the midwest.

  a majority(more than 50%) of the children at the local congregation were homeschooled.. the end result was that these homeschooled kids had social problems, found it difficult making and keeping friends and were completely out of touch with the world.. as these kids became adults, rarely did they stay on as witnesses and usually went to the other extreme,, you know the old saying,, sex drugs and rock n' roll..

  Homeshooling is the best way to produce a blithering idiot.

  I can think of two reasons that make parents decide that their children should get all they need, academically and socially from them:

  1. The parents have little or no faith in their kids to handle the normal issues of growing up

  2. The parents are so selfish and self-centered that they think they can satisfy all their children's academic and social needs.

  I feel like hurling whenever I see some christian fundy say that she is homeschooling.

  i've read how some feel that europe does not have the ability as a union to fight against this.

  is this like it was in germany prior to ww!!

  And you're citing editorial resignations? I think you're referring to the French editor that resigned to avoid being fired by his French publisher. You're using the French as your mine canary?

  Some editors tried to show some 'press solidarity'. Do we not agree that they were challenging their people and governments to stand for their freedom to print the satirical cartoons. They were making a statement, a statment about the freedom of the press. My friend, that is what a free press MUST be about.

  It's more likely that the company knows such emails can cause offense and they'd get their arses sued if it ended up in the inbox of a muslim employee.

  The above is completely off the point. You were equating free press with corporate e-mail. You were wrong.

  The press certainly don't have an obligation to print offensive or racist material.

  Wrong, wrong, wrong. A free press is obligated to print news. The PC sentiments somehow convinced way too many that it should be sugarcoated. Satirical commentary, in the form of cartoons, is a long-standing editorial tool. Infringe on that and you might as well bring back Mussolini.

  If I start sending "joke" emails which are un-diverse or deride people's religions from my corporate mailbox, I can be fired. Why do the media think they can print whatever they want with impunity?

  Don't equate your company's privilege to regulate your personal use of their equipment with the free press' rights and obligations to print the news.

  If we do find ourselves in an escalated conflict, it will be because the West showed weakness and cowardice while hiding behind PC sentiments.

  She doesn't need to be courteous, or even say thank you. Why? Because you didn't do anything.

  You see, she prayed over her decision to serve Joe Hoba fulltime. She probably consulted with spirit-appointed elders. Joe, the elders and she collectively agreed that she should make the commitment and that J. would provide the basic necessities.

  You and your family are simply a delivery mechanism being used by God.

  (I think this is an attitude common among COs, DOs, pioneers, bethelites - you know the "Order of Full-Time Servants")

  it by use of a simple sales technique.

  the only way on earth to influence other people to talk about what they want and show them how to get it.

  I think it has very little to do with the teachings. From top to bottom, the vast majority of JWs fall into one of two catregories:

  1. Those that want to be told what is right and what is wrong, and

  2. those that want to do the tellin'.

  Sheep and shepards, slaves and masters, kool-aid mixers and kool-aid drinkers.

  in syria, protesters have now burned the norwegian and danish embassys to the ground.

  the latest news is that they are rioting in copenhagen, denmark, where 200 moslems have stormed the sentral station (the railwaystation), and throwing bricks and rocks.

  i just heard from back home (puerto rico), about this elder i know (i was good friends with his daughter), that just got df'd for homosexuality.

  this is how the story goes:

  he was an elder for over 20 years and he even claimed to be of the "annointed class'.
