I don't think they were trying to drum up persecution in Denmark. I think they were just being dumb and arrogant and it did backfire on them.

My story... how do I deal with my family from here?
by unfamiliar innice to "meet" you all :).
i have been reading this forum for maybe a month now, and it has helped me answer alot of questions that i have had, and i must say i am extremely glad i found this forum, so full of information!.
i'll tell my story, i'll try to keep it short.. i grew up with my whole family being jw.

Oh wow, Unfamiliar. You are among people here who understand. Most of us have had similar experiences breaking free. I will keep my comments short, just to say that this is all new for your parents and family.
A bad choice of words on my part, but they will need time to be trained on acceptable behaviour with you. It sounds like you are not going to bring up topics to them to disrepect what they believe and are simply asking for the same courtesy. They will have to learn this new family norm. It is new to them. They will get it after a few friendly reminders.

A day in the life of a fading JW
by dissonance_resolved ini'm five months into my slow fade and it's going so-so.
my saturday morning was spent on a 3-mile jog and taking the kids to the park, which was great, but i'm still shuddering from the potential alternative.
at the last meeting, an elderette literally blocked the exit to prevent my escape and said she just "noticed" that we were in the same field service group and would i like to work with her in service on saturday?

You just wait. Life gets better and better the longer you are away from the cult and cult-think. And now your daughter has a chance to grow up free from it. I raised my daughter as a JW. She had a hard time letting go even after she saw that it could not be the truth. She and her husband now attend an undenominational church and still have what I call traditional God/Jesus beliefs. And she turned out to be quite a moral, ethical and good person.
As for me, I am absolutely sure that I don't have all the answers anymore. And I don't even know what I should believe. But guess what? I am still a moral, ethical, good person and do not need black and white rules. Don't need any elder monitoring either.

Very good with "Saturdays are tough, but if there is a day that would work, I'll call you!" I am annoyed with this sister just reading it.
Kids understand a lot. You'll be surprised when you talk to her about really nice people that do not go to the Hall, many of them serve god and live a good life. You didn't mention your daughter's age. In any case, give her the positive side for not going to the Hall. As already mentioned, that you have other questions about life that are not part of the KHall and new information to consider.
Maybe with your mom you could ask simply, have you ever wanted time out to evaluate what is really important and life and the people that are important to you without the pressure of always "doing" something? With the organization there is always something that we are supposed to be "doing". I want to "be" for a while and then decide what it is that I want to "do".

Highlights from the book of Jeremiah. SLAVE LABOR!
by DATA-DOG inchapter twelve "was not that a case of knowing me?".
king jehoiakim was building a house, and it was to be grand.
plans called for spacious rooms on at least two stories.
-
Bob_NC
In my best Fred Franz impersonation voice..
"What parallels do we see with the building programs of the modern-day Jehoiakim class? Why, we find that the anointed remant today are also embarked in a building program of grand scale. Skilled workers are busy in upstate New York constructing similar spacious rooms, of two stories or more, with large windows to allow sunshine and fresh air pour in. These Bethels, or houses of God, will be used in support of the grand, never to be repeated, preaching activity now being carried out by the Jehoiakim class and their worker-class associates. What a privilege for the worker-class as they give willing of themselves in support of Jehovah's duly appointed Jehoiakim class!"

What's The STRANGEST Thing You've Seen At A Kingdom Hall?
by minimus ini saw a fight break out on the platform between an elder and a unbelieving husband who accused the elder of f---ing his wife.
he then threw the lectern on the floor and pushed the elder.
it was cool.......

So funny all of youse guys. Thank you for sharing. I can't top any, but here goes.
We were coming up short in the contribution boxes for a few months, shorter than usual anyway. Then one day the Accts. Servant found inside a contribution box a stiff wire that comes out of the back of the old timey blue bound volume covers. You know the kind? On the tip of the wire was a big wad of bubble gum. Someone had evidently been using the wire to stick to bills in the contribution box and pull them out. Pretty slick, and a regular attender too.
I almost forgot the time that a sister was caught with a key stuck in the contribution box and the door open. It was the spare key kept in the literature servants box behind the counter. No one knew about the spare key, so she had been snooping. When asked where she got the key, she said that it was in the box already and that she was checking to see if anything had been taken.
We had a brother decide that he was anointed. He didn't tell anyone in advance, but here is how we knew. At Memorial he drank the entire glass of wine. HAHAHA! The brother serving had to come up to the platform for more wine as the glass was empty. When I left the org, I called this now DFd anointed brother to talk and asked him about it, and asked what was he thinking to drink to the entire glass. He said that he was making a statement that no one can tell him whether he is anointed or not.
We had a sweet older brother die on stage giving a student talk on the TMS. He was given CPR on stage by a brother with certification and cared for by an RN sister, but he died within a few minutes. Unlike some other examples, we ended the meeting and everyone went home.

I'm just tired
by joe134cd inyou know i'm just tired about all the bull shit that goes on.
i'm sick of trying to please others.
i loath pissing people off on a saturday morning.
-
Bob_NC
Here is a surprise for you. When you stop trying to please others, many won't even notice, even more won't care. Those that really need others to please them will drop you in a hot minute and go about looking for the next persons to please them.
I guess what I am saying is, it is an illusion to live your life from a perspective of pleasing others. Most people don't notice and don't care. They are going about their own stuff. You are a sideline item, so get on with what you want to do.

My 8 year old daughter tells me she is an atheist...???
by sosoconfused inso since we have not been to a meeting in 6 months or so, i decided to ask my daughter (on the way home from cheerleading practice - yeah i can't believe i am letting her engage in such a worldly activity lol) if she misses going to the kingdom hall.
she says sometimes because she can't see her friend - but she has made new friends so it doesn't bother her too much.
so i ask her, "well, what about learning about jehovah?
-
Bob_NC
She is being honest and expressing her true inner self. That is priceless! She will have a lifetime to ponder the questions of God. Please don't be too concerned. She will have many life experiences that will bear on her formation of a god belief. Do you like that she is free to be herself rather than being coerced or forced to accept things as so?

Suing the WTB&TS for their failure of duty of care towards Jehovahs Witnesses/volunteers when furthering their cause
by smiddy inas an illustration/example : the two mature age women who were mauled by a dog recently who underwent a horrific experience when they were engaged in feild service for the wtb&ts and needed medical treatment and hospital care , if they had so chosen to do so ,couldnt they have sued the organization for their failure of duty of care ?
how many more such cases happens that we dont hear about ?
injuries at conventions , in field service ,on the way ,driving to field service or assemblys , accidents etc.

When I was the SEC of the congregation elders, it was my duty to discourage Witnesses from making claims on the Kingdom Hall liability insurance. We were instructed by letter from Mother to "kindly" inform the injured person that the Society insures Kingdom halls against loss and that insurance claims are paid with funds that could otherwise be used in the Worldwide Work. Injured Witnesses were to be encouraged to file claims on their personal medical insurance for accidents that occured on Kingdom Hall property.
Kingdom Halls are insured by insurance premiums paid to the WT Society. Congregations can pay the premiums with monthly payments or make an annual payment set by the Society, similar to any insurance company. Any ideas on how much $$ goes to the Society in the form of insurance premiums?
