YES. You can be sure of it. The WT is like any corporation in needing to know how it is viewed and what is being said about it. They are here.

Is the Governing Body trolling us?
by kneehighmiah ini'm starting to believe the bethel higher ups are trolling us.
the outright contradictions and stuff like overlapping generation is too ridiculous.

What would the Watchtower Society do...?
by LogCon inwhen the economy collapses, and it will, worse than 2008, far worse.... ...what would the watchtower society do if a large group of homeless jw's starting camping out at wakhill, new york, perhaps in a large 'tent city'?.

Will some other elders follow up on my comment? On the congregation level, we were instructed to aid needy Witnesses by helping them to apply for social benefits to which they might be entitled, on the premise that some people do not know how to apply for unemployment, food stamps, or heating assistance.
Of course, we were also told that as a body we could contribute to the needs of Witness families. I do not recall a provision for using congregation funds to help a needy family.

Is governance by the "Governing" Body merely an ILLUSION?
by Terry injesus received his mission orders from jehovah.. the apostles received their mission orders from jesus.. .
philip received his mission orders from an angel.. paul received his mission orders directly from a vision of christ.. .
barnabas took paul to jerusalem where he met james (jesus brother and peter) for fiteen days.

On a somewhat related by disimilar thought, what if a few top WT corporate officers took legal means to steer the WT organization in a direction to their own liking. JF Rutherford style but quieter. Who could stop them? The GB don't have any legal power, as I understand it in recent years.

Do Facebook "Friends" That Constantly Brag, Irritate You?
by minimus inthere are a few people who are fb friends that constantly brag about themselves, their looks, their accomplishments, their bodies, their job---etc.. one particular person is too close to ignore but it's never ending.
i am thisclose to telling her, to please stop it.. any thoughts?.

Evidently I don't want to know what's going on. I am on Facebook but just don't care to log in that much.
People that brag...a lot...are needy. They need someone elses approval. There own internal approval is not enough. Really though, why would someone, even you, care what kind of car I drive, or how smart I am, or my net worth? I don't spend much time trying to figure out someone elses stuff, so I don't see why they would be interested in mine.

Did They Tell You?
by Atlantis ind id they tell you they were taking care of the brothers and sisters in need in other countries?..
did they tell you that your contributions were being used for disaster relief?..

CIRCUIT ASSEMBLIES KEEP SHRINKING IN SIZE - WAY TO GO!!
by steve2 inthe recent boe letter announcing changes to the duration of circuit assemblies was warmly received by congregations the worldover.
it was as if the brothers and sisters were already in the new world for, upon hearing this news, there were no tears at all.
instead, it is a humble acknowledgement from the gb of the mind-numbing, yawn-inducing 2-day circuit assemblies.. .

Readers will likely begin yawning at me like we used to yawn during the assembly program.
Circuit Assemblies are a cash cow for the Society. But what is the minimum investment the Society needs to make in an Assembly to realize the greatest return? "The friends" are only going to contribute so much per assembly. True, some might contribute on the second day, but most of the cash will come in on the first day. Thus, a one day assembly has the greatest return on investment.

My Former Congregation is Dead
by Nosferatu inwhen i left the jw organization, there were about 80 publishers in my congregation.
within the last month, the congregation was abolished because it only had 29 publishers in it.
the apparent reason for this was one elder on a power trip.

3 years of study, Just found out!
by impala63rag inhello friends, .
i would like some advice from those that are inpartial, and are familiar with the teachings of jw.
i studied with a wonderful jw couple weekly for 3 years.

Impala, I can imagine that this has put your thoughts in a spin.
In fairness, most Jehovah's Witnesses are decent and sincere people. That is the draw. But each Jehovah's Witness is also captive to the concept that an Organization represents God and speaks for God. In that organization there is no place for the individual. No freedom to be yourself. You must comply and follow.
Most important, EVERY scripture they use is twisted and made to say something that it does not, all in support of the Organization concept.

Consperiacy or am I seeing things?
by dogon inmy wifes family has not really kept in contact with her after we left the cult.
i am the main reason but she never was a strong believer she just went with the flow as to not cause problems.
she has not heard much from her mother since the death of her brother 3 years ago.

On a positive note, passing of the magazines was an acknowledgement that they see you as non-practicing JWs and yet they were interested enough to want to spend some time with you.
Positive note 2. Maybe you "witnessed" to them. They surely said, or thought, to each other upon leaving that you seem to be doing well, you seem to be happy, and that leaving the truth has not turned you into horrible vile people.

Curious change in December 15 Study Article
by Bobcat ini ran across a change between the printed edition of the december 15, 2013 wt study edition and the magazine as a pdf download from the jw.org website.. whether the change amounts to much, i'm not sure.
but it is curious.
the change is in paragraph 16 on page 15:.

The Society changed the wording in the PDF version to exclude mentioning assisting with Kingdom Halls and relief work since it is the Society that is promomting the building of new Kingdom Halls.
With their building program in New York state, they need all the volunteers they can get, no matter how much the publishers are away from their families.
