I see beauty in a variety of human forms. I am on the lookout for beauty in women, however. Sometimes I have wondered if I could have a homosexual encounter.
Here is how I have answered it for me. I see a man beautiful in form. Could I kiss him? Heck no! That's the answer I accept for myself. Can't say I haven't given it honest consideration.
were you surprised when you went in service for the first time (this question is prob for those who were not born-in) --.
when i first had the "privilege" of going in field service as an unbaptized publisher, i remember feeling so surprised at everybody's apparent slowness.
all the talks at the kh emphasized how we were in the last days, doing a life saving, critical, never to be repeated, work, etc., yet you get in the car group and ignore people walking right by or coming toward the car, and then slowly walk from house to house.
It boggles the mind how slow people can walk in fs. What really surprised me, though, was the Circuit Overseers. I thought when he came that we'd better have our game. No time for dilly dallying. Pzzt! He was the worst of all. We had one CO that as soon as he talked at a door would say "Break...I made my call."
We had another CO that introduced us to coffee breaks not at McDs. Oh no. He knew where the full serve restaurant was on the first day of fs and headed there within an hour of knocking the first door...AND asked the coffee waitress to bring us fresh baked rolls. A charge for the rolls? Okay, that's fine, we all want rolls.

The CO can now, and will likely be told to, recommend congregations be consolidated or dissolved if they do not contribute to the Society. If you can't pay your way, consolidate with a congregation nearby. The CO dissolves the congregation and the Kingdom Hall is sold. You know where the proceeds go.
It's all about the money now. The leaders know this. Just read what the postings on here are about lately. Recap:
Less District Overseers. Less convention days. Less assemblies. Less pages in the magazines. Less new literature. Less meetings. Less Regional Building Committees. Less printing facilities. Less Branches.
Someone tell me, in what way does this sound like a prosperous and growing organization? Members can go along and fake it or hang on just in case. But people vote with their pocketbooks. When the people lose confidence, they don't contribute, much. It's going down. A slow but gradual death.

my family and i are planning a trip to a nice vacation area close to where my (active jw) parents and sister and brother in law live.
my family and i are not df'd, da'd or anything else- we just executed a successful fade and havent looked back.
sooo- i've expressed my interest in spending some time with them on vacation (why not- right??).
Oh yes. It's all part of the cult control mechanism. Your reply would work with me, I think anyway. "My status is, you are my family and I love you and want to see you. That's all."
Interestingly, other "Christian" groups do something similar with questions about "Where are you on your walk with the Lord?"

I apologize if this sounds morbid, but it's the first thought that comes to mind. Go to your local graveyard, preferably where some family members are buried.
Read some headstones. Then ask yourself, was (s)he good enough?....was (s)he wicked and evil? Now look around and count up some headstones. In the end, it doesn't matter and no one remembers. We think far too much of ourselves and our short time here. That's one thing that Solomon got right.

Echo jgnat. It's an internal thing. You, as mom, can wear yourself to a frazzle trying to get older daughter to comply with what is not natural for her. And she will resent you for it. Good example and gentle suggestion, okay.
My daughter growing up was like your older daughter. Nothing could break it. She decided in recent years to break the pattern herself. That's the only thing that works.

Adding to Blondie's post... I gave an experience on the Circuit Assembly when I was a JW kid. But the experience was not something that happened to me. I rehearsed what I was given to say and related the experience as if it was my own. It never happened, to me anyway.
Evidently, the assembly part instructions said to have a JW youth to relate a positive/successful field service experience. I got so many compliments afterwards for being such a zealous young brother. Sheesh! If only I had opened my eyes to things back then.
