Since leaving the truth, do you celebrate holidays, and does your participation in such bring you happiness?

i ask this respectfully, and do so after watching a favorite show of mine's season opener which had a new years storyline.

hollywood tends to make movies and television show episodes centered around holiday themes appear warm and blissful.

while i'm thankful to have never participated in such holidays, i can't deny my curiosity about ex-jws that do celebrate.

Being the father of 6 children and a growing nrs. Of grandchildren, were none of them are Jw´s any longer, this is my wife’s nightmare. Every birthday and Christmas when our children and grandchildren is gathering together celebrating Christmas, birthdays and so on - but my wife is not invited, because she is still in. Sometimes I have been invited as “grand old dad” , but refused to go just out of loyalty to my wife who should be home completely alone, wondering what we all are saying about her believes. I can see on her that she is frustrated, and that she of course, would prefer to be with her children and grandchildren. The only one who suffers from this of course is my wife…

I try to easy her pain….

Interestingly disturbing!

i work in the medical field and every 2 years i need 24 hours if continuing education to stay licensed.

my deadline is coming up and i am taking the classes this week and next week.

heres the thing, i scheduled them both on sundays and ive procrastinated over this two year renewal period.

I think that your spouse have the same problem as most JW,s. They stop think for themselves. They rather prefer to look in some old edition of WT and quote some paragraphs, use that as their brain and relax in thinking I have been talking to God and he gave me the answer.

This is a brain drug and I think that you slowly, step by step, must make you wife understand why God doesn´t speak through the WT. Make it slow and easy, don’t upset her. I have not attended one meeting in many years, but my wife is still and wants to go to “as many meetings” she can. I feel that graduate she have “missed” more and more meetings during the last 2-3 years, and it looks that this doesn’t disturb her to much.

last decade, a congregation was dissolved.. last year, about a half a dozen or so congregations meeting in a double-hall got re-orged and it works out to one less congregation.

they received all new territories, bodies of elders, publishers.

The last babtism that my old cong. could achive (about 40 publs.) was 10 years ago when one man with some sort of "diagnose" asked för Babtizm.

Since then, none from "our district" has showed any intrest in becoming a JW. In fact these 40 publishers should have dropped down, if not the Soc. had send piooneers and new people "kicked out" from our newly closed branch office.

On many points I agree with you. “social Darwinism” Is a dangerous way of thinking. The point from my side was that this is the way that earthly mammal’s has act (and not only mammals) during many thousands of years. It looks merely like it’s just only a function of life. The fact is that only In later days it has been obvious to us that it is not a OK way to behave that way. Humanism has during the last 300-400 hundred years developed to a much higher standard . The ideas of the Bible. Or Aristotle, or Galena, is no longer valid. We accept people that are disabled, have mental deceases or just don’t agree with our viewpoint. (of course not the JW,s who are shunning people that do not accept their way of thinking)… Perhaps you will understand more of this process of human development if you read some of the “enlightenments” writers. One of the thing they were very much concern about was “the evilness” of the “creation”. Reading them carefully you will understand that, they could not understand the way all these things happened to humans. But the evolution theory gives us the fact: it’s white in built in the human (or mammals brain) You hit first, if not you are death.

I see!? So now they are looking for vouluntary carpenters, plumbers, electricians and "gifts" to build all these "new strategies" assembly halls? when they are delivered by these "free voulunters", they could be sold with a great profit. It´s a brilliant business idea.

Here are some facts from Scandinavia.

1.They have closed two assembly halls. And are discussing to close even another

2. they have shut down branch offices in Oslo and Arboga and fired almost all persons who worked there.

3. The branch offices in Estonia and Latvia are closed and moved to Helsinki.

4. A number of congregations on country side have been merged with others

Is the Soc. Increasing or decreasing its activities in Scandinavia?

Most Irritating Thing About The Jw's

it's their inability and refusal to admit they are wrong....ever...even in the face of irrefutable evidence.

Today I had a visit from un elderly brother. He had been a very dear friend of me for many years. I think he visited me to encourage me to take up service again and come back to the meetings. This in spite he obviously knew that I am un apostasy. For almost two days we talked about nothing. Then after breakfast he took up the very reason for his visit. It the end of times, very late, and all things were going to be destroyed in Armageddon.

I replied that,: wouldn´t it have been better if god had made that 10-20-30 ýears ago, since the earth’s population is increasing with approx.. 10 million children, women and men every year. And that JW,s only have a growth of 200.000 – 300.000 a year. I mean that for every year god will have to kill 10 millions of people who have not the “mark”. He replied that he didn’t know what was in the heart of god and that he couldn´t decide who god will kill or not.

I asked him but the principle is still that, all those who are not JW,s will be destroyed in Armageddon? He mentioned something that god Is good and no one knows what is going to happen.

My question is, have the society changed their view on this matter lately?

Conversation with a christian today or: How the holy spirit got it wrong.

i had the oddest experience today.

i was walking down the street and there was a group of christians standing in front of a boxcar nicely painted with their logo and website.

they had brought loudspeakers and mixing system, and were playing some loud semi-techno stuff while they were dancing like crazy (literally, there was an old guy jumping around with an umbrella doing a rolling stones impersonation).. i did the only sensible thing and stopped to see what was going on and take a picture.

About vaccination

the other day, we (my df wife and i) take our baby to his firsts vaccinations.

since he born, my parents-in-law ( former witnesses) .

violated the prohibition of talking with us and there are more close to us than before.

I must say I´am in favour of vaccines. We have today almost destinguished deseases like bubonic plauge, polio and others, thanks to vaccines discoveries.

One hundred fifty years ago, when nobady had acces to vaccines, millions of people died in their childhood becouse there were no threatment for these deaseses. Consequently mans life span has increased with more then 20 years. Look at the upraising polio epedemia in Syria, due to lack of vaccines. About 20 children has been discovered having polio the latest days. This a consequense due to the civil war there. We thought that we had destinguised Polio as well but when vaccines stops comming - polio is comming back. Sorry for those 20 children..
