  my girlfriend's dad who is 82 lost his second wife to cancer last october.

  while she was dying, he secretly was seeing another woman, in her 60s.

  long story short, a month after the wife's death, they both moved in together and in early june , they secretly got married.

  Doctors and surgeons say no to blood transfusions

  my mum recently told me that even surgeons won't have blood transfusions, but the common people don't get told this.

  i have also seen or heard others say that a bunch of doctors/health officials/surgeons were asked, at some point, if they would accept a blood transfusion and they all said no.

  is this true?

  One of my daughters, is a professionally trained and examined medical doctor. With more than seven years spent at university. Raised as a JW child, of course the blood issue has been one of the questions that interested her by most. Investigation this thoroughly, she has never ever heard a colleague saying something so stupid. In fact here in Scandinavia it would be impossible to become a professional medical doctor and swore the Hippocratic ode, and get your license, if you refuse your patients proper treatment.

  there are various stories in the news today about the head pastor, mark driscoll, of the mars hill megachurch in seattle resigning after much extended controversy.

  from what i read, his church was in many ways similar to the jws.

  What Govt./Judicial/Legal organizations exist in the U.S.A.to investigate bogus charities,religions.

  , international bible students association , may very well have started out with high ideals according to their charter in providing comfort and faith and assistance to their followers .. however the i.b.s.a.

  has since morphed into something entirely different over the years into becoming a multi million dollar publishing / real estate empire using volunteer labour to amass millions of dollars over the years posing as a not for profit organization and using charitable status which is misleading to say the least.. in the last ten years they have amassed around 900 million dollars in real estate sales in new york /state alone.. why are they not being investigated .. the religion of jehovahs witnesses are not a charitable organization in the strictest sense of the word as they only give to their own members or that their family or freinds .they do not give to the general population.. and why would they , they beleive the "whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one ,satan the devil.".

  everyone who is not a jehovahs witness will be destroyed at armageddon , which is always imminent.. smiddy.

  The worst thing that could happened to the soc. Is a public tax. Inquiry investigation. As far as I know they have all the time being avoiding this by claiming that they are a “religious aid organization”, with the support from American laws from back in the 1900 centuries. No accounting has to be shown publicly. They use Bible quotations to back up their standpoint (Do not let your left hand know what the right hand do when you give a donation) . The treasures within the Soc. Is handled mainly by the “Treasure dept. And this department is run by a numbers of “directors” with probably Don Alden Adams in charge. Everything here is closed for any public insight. But some countries have different laws. In England for instance the Watchtower soc. Must present a yearly fiscal report given incomes and expenditure’s. Those I have seen, are ending up with large numbers of UK £. The funny thing is that the excess money is immediately “given away” to an international Aid organization in the US called Watchtower Bible and Tract Society…!! And here is end of story. All moneys, bonds, shares, equity funds is untraceably. And those who have the control of this can do whatever they like with this fortune. They are only responsible before God.

  In Sweden when the branch office was closed, the Swedish State television, made an interview with the brothers and asked who should have all the moneys, when it was sold. The brothers replied, that they were registered covered by Swedish taxation laws and their organization numbers was public. However searching for this taxation number, it was discovered that it really was registered as “a monk orders” , with no obligation to pay tax. All their money was sent to their “mother organization in the US…? Later this JW church org. was applying for Swedish state contribution to their “youth activities”, and was denied this money; they screamed and cried, high about “discrimination” of certain religious groups.

  It stinks…!!!!

  I think that a serious group of us with the knowledge and the juridical qualification, must organize a pressure group to let the taxation authorities know what’s going on, both in England, Sweden, and US.

  Can a religion claim: “Only we have the truth”?

  truth is self-evident (things like: the whole is greater than its part ....).. truth is always right (things like: caring for the accident victim helplessly bleeding on the road ....).. claiming: only we have the truth is like claiming: only my university is useful.

  history shows that many school/college drop-outs have made significant contributions to the society like many those who completed their education!

  and on the contrary, many school/college drop-outs have made significant damage to the society like some of those who completed their education!

  Thank you for your long explanation of human consciousness. I do believe that humans have a conscience. But I do this only as a result of heritage and education.

  Yes I know that some results from quantum theory are very odd or strange. Like that some electrons of atoms seems to “knowing each other even in remote distance”!!

  But then you are adding something that a modern scientist cannot do. You interpret those results as a proof of a Godthing, a Transcendental new world that no one in fact can proof.

  Yeas I like to watch the stars in the night in the Nordic countries. But I cannot over interpret and say that I believe there is a mystic figure that runs their lines and circles, and that he is telling us our future if we just listen to him!??

  why did you become a jw, what particular teachings attracted you to 'the truth' ?.

  in my case (baptized at 20/21) it was the only religion i knew; my mom, her mom, and favorite sister were jw; and the teachings of no hellfire or immortal soul made sense to me.. .

  I was 26 when I met a girl to whom I fell in love. Only problem was that she was studying with the JW:s, and would not marry anyone else but a dub. So I started to investigate this religion (study) and I did like things with this new teachings learned (anti militarism, worldwide brotherhood, that they really care about their brothers and sister, no hell) a.sf.. So 1 year after that my girlfriend was baptized I was baptized and we got married. Now 40 years later we have 6 children, all of us are out except my wife. For more than 20 years I have been an elder in two congs. TMS, but the last 20 years I have slowly been fading, trying to get my children out – with good result. My wife still active, but I think she knows the TTATT, very well. But she is very loyal to all her old friends, and cannot leave.

  What made me leave was the hypocrisy, their total ignorance of facts, their shunning of those with a different viewpoint. Their reinstallment of hell (in Armageddon). Also the fact that they are registered as an religious aid organization, with no obligations to give an account statement in public. Also their interest in grasping for more money. Owing more KH, branch offices, a.s.f. This is obviously not a religious aid org. it is more likely real estate company with a bunch of “directors” providing themselves with authority, reputation, prestige and most probably with money.

  You say basically that all religions and mind set with a higher spirit (ghost, daemon) above humanity must be to our advantage, since we feel responsibility to these ghosts? But what about if this “mind set just is a mind crack?

  From an atheist point of view there are no rational fact that proves the existence of a God or creator. Meaning that an atheist think that all these ideas of daemons, ghosts, spirits are all fabrications in our mind (like nightmares, or dreams).

  Would you use your dreams to improve the world? Wouldn´t it be far more logic and less risky to use your intellectual mind, study proof able facts to investigate the world and then use these proof able facts to enlighten your fellow humans. This rather than using some old scriptures, interpreted by a large numbers of Prophets, with various ideas about moral ethics.

  If you chose to believe, ideas picked up in old scriptures, ancient prophets, modern interpreters (priests) or even Philosophers, it could end up with the IS, Taliban’s, or Jonestown.

  the flood, mammoths, elphants, and food.

  my question is since it looks as though mammoths were alive after the flood and we know elephants are then how much food was needed to feed just these four animals for the time they were on the ark.

  also was the ark, 500 feet long, big enough to hold the amount of food needed for just these 4 animals.. .

  From an historical point of view the flood believers have great trouble in making it possible that the Bible time schedule could be correct. The WBTS, are saying that the flood took place in or about 4300 years ago.

  Historians have known that since Champollion 200 years ago cracked the Hieroglyphics from the ancient Egypt, They are written on stone full proof that Pharaoh Menes build his grave tombs in the pyramids in the year of 2470 BC. These letters are written in stones no paper or parchment or papyrus that have been destroyed several thousand years ago and re-written, translated vanished and rewritten, translated over and over again. These hieroglyphics are still existing in originals plates and they tells us chronicals (as in the Bible) in order of all the Pharaohs that have existed from the “old kingdom” to the third dynasty.

  Now, how could Pharaoh build the pyramids, which must have several thousands of stone workers only a few years after the flood when only 8 people survived? Did good provide pharaoh with another “miracle”? In fact Menes also mentions the name of his forefather, which was not Noah or any of his sons.

  Modern Morality .

  having recently been posting on a thread about ot moral values , which are not widely "appreciated " to say the least , i have been thinking about our modern morals about sex and reletionships , or more acurately the lack of any sexual morals todays .

  i don't think that we are better off as a society which has gone so far to the do want you want , with whom you want and when you want approach to sexual ethics as we have .

  i don't think that women are actually liberated by this attitude .

  40 years ago, when I was 26, I attended a number of weddings between teenagers 16-19 years of age. Several of the couples had to apply for special license, to marry, since the law in northern Europe didn´t permit that young couple to marry. You must be at least 18 years in this area of the world. The obvious reason for these couples to marry fast, was sexual frustration! They were JW,s and was not allowed to masturbate nor to have “boy or girl friends”. 9 months after their “marriage” there was a child borne. 2-3 years later, these couples were all separated. None of these families are still in “the truth”. I know still some of these children that that never had the “love feelings” from their parents that every child has the right to expect.

  In some cultures or “civilization” it is still “morally accepted” that girls are “given away” to older men at the age of 10-12 .

  The sexuality of men and woman, forces us to do things that we know are “morally” bad. This according to what we have learned from our childhood. But the moral standard varies from place to place. I think that the WTBS standard causes more problem both for men and woman and children. To be open minded and openly discuss our sexuality and behavior will improve that men, women, and children will understand this strange mechanism that arouses from our hormones and obviously are a very essential part of both animals and humans.

  what specifically made you stop believing in god and the bible?

  was it a steady road of doubts or it was reading one book or one major event that made you realize the bible was not what it's claimed to be?.

  I was baptized 1973. I had a lot of questions unanswered. Questions about the cruelty of God. The possibility of the flood, how can the sun be “stopped” (several hours). Why could God send Jesus to earth as a ransom for our sins. And how could we benefit from his death when we had him killed.

  All these questions hummed around in my head, but I had a feeling that it was not appropriate to start discussions about it. So I kept quiet. Whit in a few years I become an elder, and had a large family with lots of friends. This makes your responsibility even greater. You must keep the flock together. And if you are an elder with a large family and a full time job, the society keeps you so busy that you cannot even think one thought for yourselves.

  Everything ended up with 4-5 hearth strokes, high blood pressure, and a long time putted on the sick list. Now I was liberated from field service, from book studies, from having speeches in KH and assembly halls. My own thinking started to come back to me again. I entered a University for 3 years. I took my PhD in field of History of Science and Ideas, with other subject like archeology, and Egyptology.

  With this as a background, and the greater part of my family out of the borg. I know that my first doubts was very right, and that the bible cannot be regarded as a “light from God”. First I started to fade, but the more the brothers paid their “visits” to me to get me on track again, they understood that I had got all the education that the soc. is to anxious not to let the other friends have. So they “banned” everyone in my congregation to pay me a visit. Even other friends from other parts our country, don’t dare visit me. Not even CO,s… of witch I know many.

  Its only my wife who is still in. I understand it must be a terrible situation for her…. But one must stand up and tell TTATT, even if it hurts sometime
