It's the claim to be the ONLY ones who have the understanding and truth...no matter what, that bothers me so much. Anyone would expect more from the one true religion than the ridiculous false teachings of their past and present. It seems they are the only ones alright, the level of deceit is arguably unequalled. Add to that the FORCED acceptance of anything and everything they say...they even make the decisions of which decisions are of conscience?! Please don't get me started, no...they are not God's arrangement or organization. Amen

Almost a copy?
by Gig indo i understand correctly that the wts secured the copyright to jb rotherham's bible translation and that is what they copied for their nwt?
franz knew some hebrew, and some greek, but in my guesstimation nowhere near enough to produce the nwt.
so is this where it basically came from... copied then changed to include their doctrinally biased alterations?.

One quick note, it really annoys me that my JW friend can't see the logic behind who could produce the better translation...5 guys from the same small religion with no credentials, or over a hundred highly respected scholars and experts from all over the world. Thought you should know so we don't get into it.

Competitive Holy Spirit
by Gig ini just read david reed's "whither the watchtower", written in...umm, about 93 i think, about the necessary changes the wts faced at the time.
it's a good read if you haven't already.. i wanted to ask all of you which of their major teachings will be the next to change.
go ahead and play prophet, nobody will hold you to it, at least not like we're going to hold the wts to it.. i'm thinking the 144,000 (1935) or jesus as michael.

GEEK Mail help please?
by SixofNine inquick, before comf sees that i've posted a computer question on a jw board.. so my outlook mail program is crashing... bad.
can't seem to fix it.
it will open, but the second i click on anything, an error window pops up that says "outlook.exe has errors.

I wish I could help you...my only comment is that you are not alone with your Outlook Express problems, it's verifiably a bad system...which I know doesn't help you. If this is just a personal account then you might consider switching to another e-mail account. Your friends will understand, especially your JW friends, they're good at following. (For the record, my post had JW in it too)

Encouraged to do independant research? (& m...
by truthseekers2 ini wanted to share these two emails that we sent last night to hubby's family members that are sincerely trying to understand what has made hubby and i resolved in our new stand.
if anyone can use these to help their family members and/or friends, it would be my pleasure to see you cut, paste, and send them!
most of the info was gathered from the quotes site, although i went into my cd and library to read every article and quote before using them.

What an excellent collection of WT articles. I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate your effort and moreover, your motivation for doing so. For any JW who believes their own encouragement, these WT words should serve to open their minds and hearts. We can be very thankful that God HAS worked in the WTS org...offering up all the necessary signs for ALL to see, that no, He isn't backing them. I've used this strategy before, don't listen to me...just understand what the WTS really is teaching...their words, not mine. Accuse and label me all you want, but God knows you shouldn't ignore the truth.
I think I've seen all of these articles at one point or another, but reading them while never turning a page sure was convincing, I hope to many more people than just myself. Thanks again.

CO Came Over Yesterday
by ColdRedRain innot even a day after i came out of the closet, the co with an elder and his preachy miserial servant nephew (you know, the kind that's supposed to make good husbands and are supposed to be brainwashed beyond belief very spiritual and who believes the bible has the truth on everything from diet to nuclear physics?
) came over to visit me and my dad.
they wanted to know why i felt the way i felt about their cult god's organization.

It surprises me that the WT hasn't printed an official
horribly dishonest excuseanswer to the UNpersecutionproblem. The WT has consistently surprised me having an answer to EVERYTHING, more than God Himself I now believe. I wonder if the knockers of doors and fellow man will have to go much longer without the neededmisdirectionlight on the subject. A standardized answer will be interesting to see, but it leads to the next obvious problem...it really pulls at my butthair when witnesses have only the one answer. One would think that it would be an advantage, that no matter which witness you were speaking to, you get the same answer...making preparation or redirection easier. Yes, that's true. But it is SO annoying to see the happiness in their faces to have memorized the answer. Why am I left unsatisfied being able to finish their sentences? I guess it's because nothing has been gained for either of us, kind of like this post. I'm getting nothing and neither are you. Now would be a good time... -

C of C & ISOCF
by Gig inquestion for all of you that have read both of ray's books, how much redundancy (for lack of a better word) is there?
can it be said that they are two separate and equally valuable books or does isocf just add to c of c?
how would you describe the theme of both, or possibly contrast them?.

I know this sounds totally uninformed and possibly lazy, I'm just interested in the view of others. Also, would you agree that if there was one single book that by itself had the best chance of reaching a JW, it would be one of these? If so or if not, which one?

Do it already!
by Gig inok bush, powell, and the rest of you...our us leaders and reps...quit using the weak in my opinion position that you don't want to compromise your sources or your tactical advantage at the onset of war to prevent you from offering up the necessary smoking gun.
nice job powell, the phone calls were telling, the pictures too but not so much.
we with the untrained eyes or light tables, the american public, want to believe your descriptions, but you have to know that the international community isn't so willing to trust you to the point of following you into war.

Ok Bush, Powell, and the rest of you...our US leaders and reps...quit using the weak in my opinion position that you don't want to compromise your sources or your tactical advantage at the onset of war to prevent you from offering up the necessary smoking gun. Nice job Powell, the phone calls were telling, the pictures too but not so much. We with the untrained eyes or light tables, the American public, want to believe your descriptions, but you have to know that the international community isn't so willing to trust you to the point of following you into war. Yes the evidence that shows Iraq's admission to have weapons and the total absence of their accountability in their declaration is good solid, dare I say concrete evidence. I know it's the smart play to put the burden of proof on Iraq, but we can all see that some maintain the burden on the inspectors. So let them have an unquestionable tid-bit so that EVERYONE can IMMEDIATELY agree and rally.
Alright, I know they don't have it, but I really wish they hadn't said so matter of factly that they did. My biggest concern is that Bush will push war outside of the UN. The US is powerful, but that's not a good idea especially considering the long term effects.
Any of you happen to catch Jon Stewart's show making fun Powell bringing Anthrax right into the UN? I thought it was hilarious.
