Currently the world population is expected to increase by 76.5 million people a year. So every year we have nearly 13 times more people being born into this world than there are JWs in total.

Consider then how will the preaching work ever be finished?

How can it be finished especially if the rate of JW growth is only 2.2%?

If this is the "last days" the preaching work is supposed to be all finished. If there are still billions of people left who never were preached to then we hear the standard JW answer: "Jehovah knows their heart condition". Well fine, then is he not cleaver enough to know the hear condition of the remaining few folk and let us off the task of preaching?

The world population is currently estimated to be growing at between 1.2% and 1.5% annually.

So the JW's grew at 2.2%. The work is indeed speeding up, heh?

I never knew that all dubs have learned to speak German and now report in German. They are progressing at least.

The Elder Trap.

(i posted this on the kh thread, but that thread has descended into a squabble.

i think it's worth a thread of it's own).. "anyone who thinks that this place is similar to a kingdom hall with elders in control has no clue as to how the commercial world operates.

anyone who thinks that this place is like a kingdom hall controlled by persons with elder-like tendencies is probably going to struggle to hold down a job, make friends other than with those who feel the same way, and will always be struggling against the tide.

For myself I have issues with human authority because I generally see the source of that authority looking to advance itself and that advancement is normally occurring at the expense of the will of those over whom it reigns.

I have had too many life experiences during which authority was abusive to me (some of which some people here know but most don't) to the point of taking a physical toll on my health. So my nature now is to usurp authority whenever I can - I am probably to the point where I obsess over freedom because of my past experiences. Thus I agree we cannot live without being subjected to authority - most of us have to live under a government or have to work for a boss. But "if I win the lotto my boss can bite me" - thus usurping the authority at the first chance I get.

It's not a personal thing with me - in general I have mostly formed good relationships with those who are in authority over me - all the while disliking the authority they have and trying to understand one thing:

Do they have the authority over me because I gave it to them ?

Knowing that I gave it to them in a strange sense allows me either to cast it off immediately or to feel empowered to cast it off at any point I choose to. So far this has proven true in every instance. The one thing that keeps happening though is that I do always find myself under authority of some sort and I now think this will be true until I die. Then I will be free of authority as I know death holds no power over me and if I am dead there is no "me" to hold power over so it becomes moot (Moot is a stupid sounding word - kinda like a dumb person who can't spell).

So where does this leave me? In a world trying to figure out who I should give authority to. I am the enabler of authority in the free world. As long as I am not held captive again no one can claim they hold authority over me. The have it but I control it. If they use it in a way that shows respect for me I will continue to allow them to have it for a while but in due time I will always take it back.

My mommy is dying.... :(

i'm off to new york this morning.

i'm fortunate that my oldest daughter will drive with me, missing class to support her mom and possibly to say a final farewell to her grandma.. my mother has has two strokes this year, and, after the first one in may, told me that she felt like she was dying from the inside out.

she had another stroke at the end of august, and was eventually put in a nursing home.

Stupid, Illogical Belief of the JWs

a jw woman died a few days ago at the age of 31. she died from ovarian cancer.

i knew her since she was a young girl.

but her death got me thinking about the jw belief/interpretation of the resurrection.

Her family should be rejoicing over her death, according to JW teaching.

Why? According to Romans 6 the wages of sin are death. He who has died has been acquitted of his sin. The dubs use this to show that the dead person is now sinless having experienced death and will thus be resurrected.

Now they claim that all evil is random or Satan directed. So everytime we see people dying we should rejoice that they now are safely through the big A. If they had not been baptized kingdom publishers in good standing at the big A they would have been killed. Now all the starving people in Africa have to die.

There ends the obvious set of crapola logic for the day - dub style.

ya know...if i insult someone...i generally don't mean it...and i usually apologize for it....the topics that got me in trouble are ones i feel very strongly about.

people i know are in harms way...being shot at...and dying...many here would say there's no meaning to those deaths...which takes the heart out of a soldier and makes it harder for them to concentrate and stay out of harms way.

I will not apologize for disagreeing with you. I have done so respectfully - if you cannot handle that then surround yourself with a bunch of yes men. I thought you were open and honest about things like debate and discussion Simon. Go ahead and pull all my posts over the past month: I said in a couple of them I disagreed with the moderation. That is trolling? What about the other stuff I have written under this account? I have written mainly evolutionist and atheist content - I guess that is trolling.

I made some jokes like " bye Prisca" when you and her were having the hissy fits. Thats trolling?

As far as posting obscenities: when was the last time I posted one? I have said the SH word and the F word on occassion (probab;y less than you have in 2003), Simon. Go ahead if you can find an obscene post (not an embedded cuss word) from me for this year I will send your paypal account $100.

we go through cycles every so often here.

we get new posters every week and at times we lose some posters.

when most "newbies" find this site, they are thrilled to be able to express themselves in a way that they could never in a kingdom hall.
