Why Did Elders Split Book Study's?
by shamus in.
you would just get comfortable and they would tear them apart, the pricks.
and give you like one meeting's notice too boot.

COngregation Service Committee responsible for Group Study make-up and any rearrangements - some are sensible but many are control freaks - then again some with BS in their home complain about some and get them moved - whole arrangement stinks - who wants a group of weirdos turning up every week and hanging around after the study - we had BS for years in our house - what a drag!

Watchtower Study for 3-21-2004
by dustyb inif you still go to meetings, has anyone read the watchtower for this sunday's study?
its really really messed up, and they're still trying to justify 1914 and 607 and stuff.
i was reading that sunday before the study w/ the elder, and so i just told him that i didn't think jerusalem fell in 607. showed him a few things, then now both of us are researching it.. personal opinion of this weeks' watchtower is that its more of a crock of shit than it has been for awhile.

The Society's defence of the sacred date is commendable. The explanation of how this year is calculated is simple and functionary as it directly proves the significance of 1914. The calculation of the calendrical year 607 stands in mark contrast to the convolutions and deception promoted in the Jonsson hypothesis and by theories of higher critics.who can only suggest the useless dates of 586 or 587.

Re Blood Fish & Bone Garden Enricher - yes sure banned by the org - odd as I recall on a Farm Trip at WT Farms they showed how from the slaughterhouse they drained blood from cattle and collected it and used it on the soil ? or am I just imagining things
BTW _ Bet Eman can recall Billy Cotton (not a witness a a band-leader of "wakey wakey" fame)

it can be hard with no support in a small town where you see the dubbs network of support. even though you know you are right, they support each other in groups, they try hard to put on airs of being happy in front of you, and you know it is crap, but by being a witness for years you have cut out any support long ago by nonwitnesses.you are in a limbo and it takes time to start new friendships, but nothing worth having comes cheep or easy.
No doubts only regrets that it was so late in life - Kilroys comments above are 100% accurate - you leave into a limbo with no help, support, family, friends - all sacrificed to the God Printing - but it does improve over time.

When good elders do bad things...
by True North inrecently i had occasion to speak with an elder i hadn't seen in a while.
(although i've been out for twenty years now, my wife and some of my children are still locked within the org's tender embrace, which led to my happening to encounter him and our resultant conversation.
) he's someone i consider a really good guy at heart, truly caring and sincerely working at being a good shepherd as he sees it.

Must be like a good Nazi huh?
As garrybuss has said this is how I feel. Most if not all of the elders would throw you into the gas chambers if they were ordered to.They after all are obeying a "higher power" and they don't have to think of the end results of their actions. To not think is a way of life for all dubs. They would make good NAZIS!!!!
Some elders did try to mitigate the madness of things by looking for the interests of the flock - yes many were mad bad and potentially equatable with Nazi's but not all were (or are) - some did work hard for the brothers, did not impose loads etc, did not rush to judicial action - of course over time such ones get emotionally exhausted by this and give up or leave as the pressure from the majority / COs etc to plough the party line becomes too much to resist - please dont equal all elders/former elders with Nazi types - Nazism was more than popular in Germany in the '30s (overwhelming support from the people) and in some congs I have seen overwhelming support from the brothers for the hard liners - that does not however make all the same - the organisation is corrupt and unsaveable - some still in are decent ( although the ones who are not do have the ascendancy)
I can think of lots of "advice" (orders) from COs etc that elders ignored for the benefit of brothers - lots of JC cases in which elders moved the goal posts to find repentance abnd not have to take action.
My thoughts go out to those still trying against the tide, to show common sense and good judgement.

Question about Judical committees
by scrubmaster inif a committed has been formed for an allegation of serious sin and the person does not agree with the charge is there anything the person can do to let the elders now they do not agree with the charge and if the person is not happy with the three elders choosen for the committee is there anything that can be done before the first meeting.
also a side point, this same person presented evidence of their scriptural freedom just like the society's said is required, the elders had to deliberate over this information even though it was present just as the society stated, my friend went ahead and got married and now all of a sudden the previous information was put on the back burner and my wife and friend now face a judical committee for adultery.
is this the way elders all ways handle cases, they throw out any information which made be in the person's favor and go right for what can be found written in black and white so they do not have to think?

And no, you cannot request a different committee
SOme years ago elders were told at a KMS that if anyone objected to a member / members of a JC then the committee should be changed - object in writing, being polite but forceful. Indicate you know you are entitled to a committee of independent, unbiased brothers and you will not meet with a committee which is not unbiased or has some involvement which reflects on its judgement.
