Window-washer is the cover of Feb 2015 WT, "How to enjoy your work!" Hahaha!!
by EndofMysteries in.
after all the jokes and satire on this website about jw's only being able to amount to window washers and house cleaners, the cover page of "how to enjoy your work" showing a window washer and cleaner in the back ground.
i almost wonder if some awakened, still-in, from this site is part of the writing department or illustrations and put that in there as an inside joke for us?.

It certainly does seem that sometimes they're winking at the "apostates."
It's like we're in on the joke, but they get the last evil laugh because they STILL control our friends and family members. It's kind of like an overt thumbing of the nose at us, "Yeah, we know you apostates are wise to us. So what? What are you gonna do about it? Open your yaps and get disfellowshipped!"
Let's review: It' a cult!

What are the Core Teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by cultBgone inrecently someone asked me to define what core teachings have such a hold on jdubs that they have trouble breaking free.
trying to single out the driving force that keeps them in the borg, this is what popped into my head:.
obviously there are lots and lots of wacky things the jdubs teach/believe/pretend to believe.

the Wt Study last Weekend
by thedog1 ini wasn't at the study at the weekend, the reason was family health problems, but even if that had not been the case i wouldn't have been there.
has anybody else who was there or read the article noticed the unbelievable begging bowl being produced for the pioneers and cos and bethelites, etc?
maybe this has been commented on already but in effect witnesses are being asked to financially support, not only pioneers, but circuit overseers if they need medical help, and to fill in with dealing with aged parents if missionaries are abroad.

Others who serve in foreign lands are assigned to serve at a branch office or to assist with the construction of branch facilities, remote translation offices, Assembly Halls, or Kingdom Halls. Meals, modest housing, and other services are provided. - w2014, 9/15, p. 32, para. 18
Do you mean like THIS "modest housing" in Wales purchased for £1,000,000 for "remote translation"?
It's very modest, isn't it!
More lies brought to you by the WTBTS!

Those who enter the full-time ministry do so, not to gain financially, but to give—to Jehovah and to others. - w2014, 9/15, p. 32, para. 21
So why don't the GB members "give" the money they control to others?

Wasn't a letter about the NGO situation read at the Hall?
by Apognophos inokay, so i've been seeing the occasional comment here and there on the forum that some jws, even elders, do not seem to have heard about the society ever being an ngo.

I was serving as an elder at that time. We did not get a letter. I found out about this issue independently and--needless to say--was quite shocked. I asked several of my fellow elders, including elders in nearby congregations. Very few of them had heard about it and the few that had wrote it off.
I kept digging because it bothered me so much. This was in fact that event that led to the beginning of the end for me.

JW's just like Nazi SS troops?????
by Crazyguy inis is not true that just like ss troops guarding and operating in a concentration camp jw's would just do whatever they are told?
ss troops were told to kill jews and most just went along with it without question.
it scares me to think that most jw's would go along with whatever they're told by their leaders without question..this is one of the reasons why i come here almost every day to see and read posts about whats going on in the religion, so i can be prepared to go save my family from this cult if i need to...

Simon: The main difference seems to be that people are motivated to do what they believe to be right. They don't necessarily do evil solely because of deference to authority.
I didn't get that from the Independent article. My take is that most people will supress their own conscience due to the influence of authority, not because they're evil, but because they want to please whoever is authority.
The article didn't dispute the facts about the Milgram experiment, just what motivated the majority of people to keep administering (what they believed to be) painful, even lethal, electric shocks.
Simon: It shows the importance of challenging and debunking bad ideas including the ones people follow because of religion.
It's important to keep in mind that, in academe, no one establishes a reptuation by agreeing with the status quo.
