Cool!
I'm excited.
i am going to switch the site over in the next hour, if you have any problems then contact me ([email protected]) and include as much information as possible about what is wrong, what you were expecting, what browser and version you are using etc... i'll also be monitoring the logs to proactively spot issues.. please be patient - i may be working on issues in preference to replying so don't get antsy if you don't get an immediate reply :).
unless there is a catastrophic problem i'll probably try and work through any issues but if things do go pear shaped when i might switch back to the old site.
if this happens then anything posted on the new one *may* be lost so hold off posting anything important without keeping a copy just in case.. .
Cool!
I'm excited.
i have noticed an apparently increasing number of men who are not interested in becoming ministerial servants or elders.
i also know of some that have voluntarily stepped down (which is my case) for no obvious solid reason.. i remember, during my teenage years or even during my twenties, the brothers were always looking forward to being appointed... although many still do, i have noticed there are many others with whom you do not know what the deal is.. since there is no freedom of speech within the organization, we remain in the dark about the motives and desires of everybody else.
i attend a congregation with only two ministerial servants, while it is full of men who do not seem to be willing to do more.. it is hard to tell exactly what is going on, since honesty is not possible while you are inside, but i am starting to think that more and more are becoming disillusioned.... .
sylvief: feels good to say that;)
Yes it does. That's why I say it so often!
My Jackson DR3.
I have owned many guitars and played countless more. This one is by far the most versatile of all of them.
i hear many people on this forum say that kh's don't have windows.
but i have never been to one that didn't have windows.
is this only in a certain area or something?.
All seven of the KHs nearest my location do not have windows in the main auditorium.
These are in the southwestern US, and all of the halls were either built or drastically remodeled within the last 20 years.
I vaguely remember a branch letter advising new halls not have windows as a security thing, but that's lame as it's as easy to kick in a door as break in through a window. My recollection is that this was early '90s but I'm not certain.
In typical WT fashion, you know they had another reason, but they weren't saying what that reason actually is/was.
Someone that had been on the RBC and paying attention might have more to offer on this.
during one of those meetings that took place before my jc, one of the elders, who was a good friend of mine back then and used to come up with a few outlandish personal views about some teachings, attempted to counter one of my arguments like this:.
eden - "well, if the truth doesn't change, why is it that what we teach as 'truth' has changed over the years (several examples given)?
how can we dogmatically claim at any given moment that we have 'the truth' if our teachings keep changing?".
Simon: If you believe the WTS then you have to believe that Jesus is the bigest waste of space the world have ever seen - 100 years of rule and nothing to show for it.
This is not true. The WTBTS has plenty to show Jesus has been busy as their invisible ruler.
As several posters pointed out, a District Convention part made clear that Jesus ensured his organization was on the cutting edge of technology, first with the Photo Drama of Creation and now with the new fangled jw.org internet thingy.
Satan's system of things ain't got nothin' on ol' Jesus. No how, no way!
i was thinking about this today, after seeing another thread on the subject of serving in israel, of all places.
there have been many comments on the recent thread, and the ones a little older, about how utterly ridiculous that premise is.. the bigger question is why do i have to apply?
permission?
It's almost as if these people can't even tie their own shoes without being told to do so.
"Tight Pants" Tony will be getting to that soon now that he's laid down the law on colored socks and Spanx.
well, i have been lurking on this site for several months and i recently decided to join as a member.
i have made several observations and would like to make a few comments.. first, i am perplexed by the attitude of many on this site that are either former or active (but apostate) jws.
they seem to have a strong hatred for the wts and also for rank and file jws.
EdenOne, I really appreciate your post #1447.
It's really nice to see how much you've changed, grown and developed since you first began posting here!
Well done.
the 2015 school setup, discussed this week eliminates the last "school talk" by brothers in favour of 'demonstartions" (a la sisters conversations) of family worship sessions and the like.. is this not a shift away from encouraging bright young ones to hone their (under-estimated) speaker skills ---to.
now using more of the die-hard, org-bound, --even elders in indoctrination demonstrations?.
do you see this trend?
They have "demonstrations" of how to have "Family Worship"?!?!?
WTF!!!
thank you for coming to my house so often because you were so concerned about me missing so many meetings.. ( actually, the only time you visited was when the circuit and district overseers were in town.
you really showed them how concerned you were about your sheep.
i now know that it is more of a duty than a concern.).
SCENE: Chance encounter with a JW while out shopping
JW, enthusiastically: "Hey, how are you? I've missed you!"
ME, skeptically: "Really? My phone number hasn't changed ...."
JW, flustered for a moment, but then attempting a recovery: "Well, the phones work both ways you know!"
ME: "That's right. They do. I called you last February. Your wife answered the phone. You were 'out in the ministry.' I heard her tell you it was me and I heard you tell her to tell me that you'd call me back. Do you remember?"
JW, sheepishly: "Um, yeah. I do."
ME: "So how've you been?"
JW: "Busy .... "
