  Using the tv.jw.org as a wake up tool with my kids

  so, i have been badgered recently to do some kind of family study by my wife.

  thanks to tv.jw.org i now have a really easy tool to use that not only passes this time but actually makes them question the organisation.. our sessions skipping through the delights of the monthly broadcast have been very interesting.

  konceptual99, that is fantastic!

  As long as your children are encouraged to be themselves, to use all of their creative talents and abilities and are not pressured to conform, they have a good chance of escaping this cult.

  Some books and essays you may want to read with them are:

  • The Giver - Lois Lowry - middle school (skip the movie, read the book)
  • Anthem - Ayn Rand
  • 1984 and/or Animal Farm - George Orwell
  • Self Reliance - Emerson - this essay is challenging, but worth it. One my high school students who is a born-in JW told me this was life changing

  K99: One of the things I wish to have is kids that can think for themselves, can take an objective approach and are not against the WTS just because daddy says they are morons. 

  This is a great point. This means that, in addition to pointing out the logical fallacies and hypocrisy of the organization, you need to supply your children with productive means to exercise their talents and develop their thinking skills.

  i'm not on facebook, so i can't verify this;.

  just heard from a trusted friend that a bethelite who had posted a copy of the happy @ bethel video online, has pleaded with everyone not to copy and repost it - because "their lives at bethel are at stake"!!!.

  anyone heard of threats being made at hq?.

  Can the world condition be worse than this?

  the innocent civilians being attacked is the norm of the day.

  attacking hospitals too are happening frequently.

  now schools being attacked is becoming a regular affair (last of its kind massacred 150 children in peshawar on december 16, 2014)..

  So the actor husband of a doctor says something and that settles it?

  Then you shouldn't drink. Because you can't even think properly when sober.

  some of you may have seen my previous post regarding my concerns with leaving the organization.. so many of you responded and were so kind and helpful, that is was rather overwhelming.

  i didn't expect so many responses.

  if you have not already watched the feb 2015 broadcast, go to approx.

  it has an elderly sister talking about being old in this world...a long time pioneer who probably thought the end would have come years ago...as the society told her many times.. now she is told to be on a mission to get young ones to also pioneer, and watch for the not so subtle condemntion of higher education!.

  sickening stuff........ they missed the obvious elephant in the room.... a life wasted on nothing...now she has no money, and lived waiting for a fairy tale!

  baldeagle: This must be a huge organizational problem for the WTS leaders, that they have to constantly demonize going to college on such a regular basis.

  It is.

  I personally know three JW families with teenagers in high school. Two of the three families are intending to send their kids to college.

  abiather: It's everyone's experience that alcohol has no benefits except harm to the self and others, yet use of alcohol thrives!

  Well that certainly has not been my experience so clearly you're wrong!
