  i suggest taking this slowly .

  .. consider the difference between taking a poll about an upcoming election and the actual vote itself on the day of the election.. the information gathered about what the vote will be is provisional.

  the vote on the day of the election is actual and official.. it is the one that counts.. now, carefully ask yourself what the specific difference--if any--there is between the poll information and the election result as an identical knowledge of.

  Is it worth it trying to wake up a friend and my parents?

  my situation right now is trying that how my friend and parents that the jw's are not the true religion.

  i've shown numerous examples of flip flopped doctrine, false predicions, the validity of the jesus choosing the bible students in 1919 and more.

  but it seems that although the recognize these mistakes they ask me, "aren't you happy the organization is making progress?

  Is ranting on about men in tight pants and wearing colored socks really progress?

  Is it "progress" to tell women not to wear "spanx" when they exercise? (Let's keep in mind that ol' ToMo the III clearly does NOT know what he is talking about).

  And what about this new JW.TV? For decades, yes for DECADES, the WTBTS has said that televangelists are part of Satan's System of Things.

  So now that THEY'VE joined the crowd, what are they? Is this progress?

  current update- the wife and i are separated.

  i dont go to the meetings or in service but im not df, or da.

  she is not budging.. problem- my wife has made it clear that she doesnt want me back unless i do all the witness stuff, i have even offered to attend meetings but not participate in commenting or go in service and this is not good enough.

  this last monday we got a letter from him telling us how unloving we are because we are no longer jw.

  cult and not had kids.

  Responding in anger is always a bad idea. Always.

  You're right. They are being cruel and unloving. They are in a cult.

  Write a letter when you're pissed if you must, but put it in a desk drawer and don't mail it.

  Then, when you're calm, try a more reasoned and compassionate approach. After all, they're in a cult and you're not. So don't respond like you still are too.

  They are immature and throwing a temper tantrum. Don't respond in kind.

  Seek to reach their hearts and minds if at all possible and lay out clear boundaries, but please take the moral high road. Please.

  does the wt always carefully phrase sentences so as to never take blame?

  im recalling a time when i sat and circled words in a watchtower article, indicating strongly the fact that it is in fact the writters opinion.. however just the suggestion in the sentence these words are ignored.. for example.

  it is our understanding.

  "but what do you do with that scripture so far as not attending meetings?".

  i typed hebrews 10:25 in to the search bar but didnt get much.. .

  millie210: I am in the beginning phases of exactly what you describe. People are starting to fall off in their enthusiasm in direct relation to how many meetings I missed.

  I'm sorry you're going through this. It's all so unnecessary.

  But know this, that by working through this you'll become a stronger, better person.

  Don't get me wrong, it's painful to be cutoff by people you love and thought were true, loyal friends. But the reality is, they are more loyal to a demonstrably false and hypocritical religion than to people of character, strength of real conviction and character.

  They lack the humility to see that there is another way to see the world than the distorted vision they've come to accept through WT indoctrination. They lack the perspective to consider situations from any other point of view.

  I'm glad you're working on not taking it personally, as hard as that is. But the truth is, people that cutoff are all wrapped up in themselves. It's all about them. It's not really about you.

  When we get stronger and make choices for our life that are our own, it threatens them. Their only possible reaction is anger and ultimatums. It's really a childish tantrum.

  Hang in there. It gets better.
