What is this nonsense about "eating children with a rod"?
I prefer a nice wine reduction sauce and roasted root vegetables.
so a friend of mine who is still in and knows i am disassociated sent me an email saying the following, "hey, did you see the new article about disciplining your children?????
there is not one single outright mention of beating your kids anymore.
no mention of the r"rod of discipline"!

thanks cappytan for posting the thread "jehovah's people as a whole can never be corrupted".
it's a sad example of how low in simple reading skills the present gb and their helpers are.

The whole thing seemed like a product placement ad for iPads.
Weird. Creepy weird.

"Some things in [the writings of the apostle Paul] are hard to understand, and these things the ignorant and unstable are twisting, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction." - 2 Peter 3:16
I'm not convinced that WT leaders CANNOT understand the Bible verses in question; I suspect they simply find them convenient to fit their agenda.
Beautiful!
Why is abbreviation such a long word?
though school i did religious education and my teacher who was religious ruled out evolution because humans are the only creatures who do not want to die, can anyone who understands evolution explain this?.
im 99% on to the theory of evolution, this is just the last stumbling block..
As has been discussed, this is a false premise: Humans are clearly NOT the only animals that do not want to die. That's just absurd.
But even if it were true, it does not follow that this would disprove evolution.
You can't fix stupid. Don't try.

It's clear that the real meaning of most of the Bible SURPASSES THE UNDERSTANDING of the WT leaders.
Let's review: It's a cult!
we are all aware here that the wt/jw org is trying its hardest to wriggle out of paying rightful compensation in the form of damages to victims of abuse who bring a claim.. they must be worried about future claims too, not just from decades ago, but from the present, as they have not made any effort as yet to truly protect the vulnerable.. here is my question :.
as they now direct the congregations through the organization known as "the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses" and as in each country this organization is headed and run by a few mendicants with no assets, do you think in future the big jw/wt corporations will deny all responsibility for abuse, by saying the very poor "christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses", which owns no property/real estate and has no cash or other assets, is alone responsible ????
hence no pay out ?.

a bit of introspection on this one ... just read on someone's post that a compliment makes him "float" for hours, and it got me thinking; within the spectrum of comments that people make about me, from compliment to criticism, which is the type that most affects me?.
after my experience as a jehovah's witness, i find that i've become suspicious of compliments and over-sensitive to criticism.
because a common technique of elders was to compliment someone before going down to business, that is, giving hard counseling or discipline.

Elders are actually trained to do this. One of my fellow elders called it "The Counsel Sandwich." Usually the "compliments" were contrived just so the elder(s) could give the offending brother or sister whatever "counsel" it was they thought they needed.
Elders don't know, appreciate or respect appropriate boundaries.
