July Broadcast Scriptural Error- FDS/Helper Fail.
by Hold Me-Thrill Me inhe has inadvertently moved the timing of the beginning of the last days to the future.
this kind of scriptural error is the direct result of superficial bible reading.
according to luke 21, first comes the persecution then the wars, earthquakes, food shortages, fearful sights etc.

WT Society Makes Light of Child Abuse Crimes by Portraying them as Cartoons
by flipper ini commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.
at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.
they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !

Flipper, I hear your anger and understand it. That being said, it's not a bad thing to educate children to say "No!" to anything that makes them uncomfortable and to tell their parents about it.
The thing that infuriates me about this is that ToMo's entire propaganda piece failed to acknowledge the problem with pedophiles INSIDE the organization and the fact that WT/JW policies, practices and culture provides a haven for them.
His statement that victims "should never be discouraged from reporting the incident [abuse] to the appropriate authorities" sounds good to those not familiar with JW culture.
The real question is this: Why aren't they ENCOURAGED to do so?
Elders should NOT be involved in cases of real or even suspected child abuse. They should be mandated reporters and turn the issue over to people that are properly trained to deal with it.

GT: Interesting that he really didn't know what diversity even meant.
Actually, Terry used the term in a slightly unconventional way initially and then changed his meaning several times during the discussion. Although every way the Terry used the term is within the range of meanings for the word, I think most people would have been uncertain how to respond.
From reading the dialogue it becomes clear that Terry really was trying to get the elder to admit that no dissent, disagreement or questioning is allowed. The WTBTS is a totalitarian group insisting on complete, unquestioning obedience to the dictates of the leaders.

Here's an interesting article from Scientific American on diversity that you might want to read:
How Diversity Makes Us Smarter
Being around people who are different from us makes us more creative, more diligent and harder-workingBy Katherine W. Phillips | Sep 16, 2014

Here are a couple of quotes from that article:The fact is that if you want to build teams or organizations capable of innovating, you need diversity. Diversity enhances creativity. ... The findings are clear: for groups that value innovation and new ideas, diversity helps.
Apply these quotes to the WT leaders and you immediately see the problem: they do NOT value or want innovation and new ideas.
They just want to be adored. They are complete narcissists jealous of any competing ideas or attention.
The leaders of the WTBTS absolutely do NOT want diversity. They have a track record over a century long of insisting on uniformity of belief and conformity to the dictates of the leadership. It's all about the obedience.
Let's review: It's a cult!

Terry, you ripped him to shreds, but that wasn't really a fair fight. You had him on the ropes the whole time.
The funny thing is that JWs, especially the elders, think they have "the Truth," but when engaged in a dialogue that asks the hard questions, they are totally at a loss.
I'm surprised though that he didn't balk when you asked him about the Governing Body. That should have tipped him off that you are an "apostate" ex-JW. -

Paul certainly practiced what he preached, giving up a promising career in Judaism that could have brought him wealth and fame. - w2015 10/15, p. 22, paragraph 15
Well that just isn't true!
Paul may have given up wealth, but he certainly did not give up fame. As a result of his escapades recorded in the Bible, he is one of the most well known characters in all of Western Civilization for the last 2,000 years. He basically invented Christianity.
Paul was all about the fame.

Dubstepped: we should all be attacking why the elders are even trying to handle these matters in the first place. Child sexual abuse is a CRIME, not something that elders should even be hearing.
Exactly!
The elders are completely unqualified to handle such matters.
It's delusional that they think they are. The elders of course believe this because they are told they are qualified by the WT leadership, people like Anthony Morris. Ultimately, the responsibility is at the top. They need to be called out for their corruption, hypocrisy and lies and held accountable.

A difficult yet necessary decision
by Brother Jeramy inthe past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.
he had just moved to my area from another state.
he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

Brother Jeramy, good for you!
The way the WTBTS, and by extension, elders and all of the R&F JWs, has nothing to do with the parable of the Prodigal Son.
My own disfellowshipping and subsequent reinstatement absolutely convinced me of that.
God ain't got nothin to do with this religion.
