  JWs have more good points than bad

  1) many who were on the destructive path have been transformed by their teachings (this includes me who was once vicious, and presumptuous and atheistic).

  2) equal monthly pay to all members of the bethel community regardless of whether they are bc members or sweepers.

  this is something that still remains as an unattainable dream for the world.

  samuel herd made a statement a few weeks ago about halting construction work, laying off bethel workers and reducing printing output: severe cutbacks all round.

  he said, like the head of a household, the gb has to make sure the organisation is living within its means.

  but he added a very careful phrase, something like: "be assured brothers these measures have not been taken as a result of any lack of financial support on your part.

  i wanted to send you a note of "thanks" on this special day.. why is this day special, you may ask?

  one year ago today, you, tony, woke me up to the fact that the governing body could not have jehovah's blessing or direction.. last year, on november 8th & 9th, 2014, the united states branch visit was broadcast to over 1,000,000 jehovah's witnesses across the country.. as i sat at the kingdom hall listening to the "historic occasion," i was ignoring certain doubts that had surfaced in the few months prior.

  Great letter Cappy!

  It's interesting how something so relatively unimportant as the tightness of a man's pants or the color of his socks has had more power to wake people up than all the false doctrines and wrong-headed prophecies.

  I guess it was simply the power of the WTF moment so many JWs had when they heard one of their leaders go off on such an obviously not-Biblical rant.

  Keep it coming, GB members. You are your own worst enemies!

  DD, I didn't say the studies would result in a "witch-hunt" but I could see someone claiming their abilities to "read people" could be used as justification for a witch-hunt.

  Just imagine some elder reading the same article you did, taking the $20 online course on "lie detection" and then going full-tilt-boogie on some poor JW because they blinked or twitched or looked down when they were being interrogated by a Judicial Committee of window-washers and janitors. The elders already think they have "holy spirit" guiding their inquisitorial procedures.

  Interesting stuff, although due to the inherently subjective, and highly interpretive nature of these skills, the process can easily turn into justification for a witch hunt.
