Of course there is a scripture to support anything.

Can you spot the mind control beginning?.............
by Dawn ini was just reading through this new brochure "what does god require of us?
" that was "placed" with me last week.. it is set up to be studied with a householder in short sessions - each lesson is only about 6-7 paragraphs.
the first three are quite simple - general statements with a supporting scripture.

help, cuz i am like a scared baby
by Vivamus init's 2 am, and my whole country is asleep and i badly need to talk, and someone to hold me.
i have been out of this fucking cult for nearly two years, and i have not been bothered by demonz since then ... until now.
right.. i woke up, not able to breathe and see a thing, and i grabbed the phone to call my boyfriend, but i must have misdialed ( thank god, cuz he'd think i was nuts otherwise) and then i tried to scream, but i couldn't.

Interesting thread, I have never been plagued with anything like that, although I went through a phase of studying all sorts of alternative spirituality, witchcraft, paganism etc.
Its interesting to note that most cases of demonic attack occur where the subject has been brought up in a strict religious environment, in earlier times notibly catholics. It seems that those that experience such things are those who have been taught to fear it most.
I have come to the conclusion that 'the only evil is that which exists within the heart of man.'
That is not to say that such phenomia, even though eminating from within our own minds is not powerfull, yet we must remember that this is created within our own minds.
The sleep paralysis manifests itself in differing ways, in people taught to fear the supernatural the mind creates demonic possession as the explaination. In the middle ages, this was the description of the Incubbi and Succabi.
In another case where a whole town in germany became possessed by devils it was traced to a particuarly damp year and the ergot mould had taken hold on the rye crop which was made to make bread. Ergot produces substances very similar to LSD.
Interesting that the case of Jacob's ladder in Genesis, where Jacob climbs a ladder to heaven and talks to God, occurs shortly after the unfortunate 'mandrake' eating incident, His wife had bought them because she belived they were aphrodisiac's, although they do contain hallucinogens. My own case of having tea on the lawn with a very English God occurred shortly after a particuarly fierce joint, God has a very nice English country house with parkland, we had tea on the terrace at a white cast iron patio table, very civilised. I later descended into hell and had a chat to the devil in order to get a balanced perspective on matters. Hell was everything I imagined it to be, obviously as my mind was deliberately enbellishing the landscape. Satan told me he would show me all my fears, to which I replied that I had seen them all before and there was nothing he could show me that would scare me. All in the mind.

There may not be one, as the Mayan Indians, who knew a lot about this sort of thing predicted the 'death of the seventh sun' in 2012.
I think this is related to sun spot activity, it seems that had considerable knowledge on the various cycles of the sun, all backed up by scientific evidence.
Tonight at around 6pm GMT the earth will be hit by one of the largest solar storms in 30 years. This could create disruption to many electronic systems. Of course the really big one will be where the magnetic field flips effectvely burning out all electrical devices.
Other than that the only thing we have to worry about is all the oil running out.
So I guess all we have to wait for is the Watchtower front page entitled, "We told you so!"

Interesting idea, OK so in for a penny in for a pound. Last JW I went out with I married, what a great idea that turned out to be! Never been out with an Ex-JW on the one hand it would be good to be with someone who understands, on the other there is always the danger they may get dragged back in.

My ex wife once told me that when she was a girl they were not allowed to play Monopoly as the game stood as it was considered 'worldly'.
So....
They had to play it as if they were on the ministry, streets were territory cards and houses were Bible Studies, and money was hours in service or something....
Theopoly ?

Are Jehovah's Witnesses REALLY Welcomed Here?
by minimus inin view of the fact that there are mostly ex-witnesses on this forum, the question is," are jw's truly welcomed here?".
it seems to me that if a poster supports the witnesses in any way, that they will know about it.

use your own mind to reason on things like a free American
Or like an even more free European......
Political Opinions Aside,
From my own experience, even though I had not been to a meeting for about 5 years, I had a real fear of reading cirtain literature and some web sites. I think this stems from some sort of psychological reaction when your rigid belief system starts to crumble, its almost a fear of the unknown. Anything that will reenforce the subjects belief (eg, that this board is full of satan worshipping apostates) will give the subject the comfort they require to believe that their belief system stands.
My experience of apostate sites was initially negaitve. They appeared to fall into two camps.
1/ Hate Sites - I have no interest in these, bad vibes man.
2/ Petty Sites - I really do not care what the witnesses wrote in some obscure paragraph 50 years ago, unless it is of real interest. This site and some of the others are a little more constructive.
I believe we have to demonstrate to any genuine JW who visits here that we are now open minded individuals, not undermine their beliefs unless they express an interest in a specific issue and do not openly attack the people themselves, remember they are the victims and the vast majority of witnesses are honest decent people.
