True, siar2, illegal kiddie porn would be a problem.
The story doesn't seem to indicate that, but it doesnt seem to be very well written, either. It still leaves a lot of questions.

And then, Tal, is the issue of why the elders were viewing a porn site to begin with. How did they ever find this guy out?
It makes me wonder whether his wife found it first and alerted the elders?
I don't think randomly surfing porn sites on the internet, looking out for other brothers and sisters, could be construed as sheperding the flock!

Porn is about fantasy, and fantasy is by definition not real life.
I wouldn't give another worried thought to his porn habits, Faye.

Data, I was wondering the same thing. Likely someone who has a big problem with porn.
I don't have a problem with porn and I certainly would never give my husband trouble for it.
I know this is very retro now, what with the internet and all, but when we got married, I gave my husband a subscription to Playboy magazine. It was my way of letting him know I was chill about the whole porn thing.
I just thought it needed to be said, considering that people feel the need to commit suicide over being caught watching it: watching porn does not make you a bad person. It makes you a normal person.

I would think it would be difficult to get life insurance monies without a body. But, if he jumped in a harbour, the body could just simply be gone. It could wash up later or never.
On another note, it sounds like his wife found the porn and then contacted the elders. I wonder how she feels about that decision now.
the science is in: god is the answer.
research shows kids raised with spirituality are happier and healthier in the vulnerable teen years.
why arent we all signing up?.
I thought it was interesting that even the original article acknowledged that fundamentalist religions did not produce any positive result regarding reduced depressive symptoms in adolescents.
I think a weakness of the article was that there didn't really seem to be a good working definition of religiosity.
just found out (second hand of course) and by someone on here that my faithful jw mum passed away within the last couple of days, dont know the exact day, and what cause, she spent the last few years living with my fanatical sister, she was 65 and survived my father by 10 years, bitter, angry and hateful till the end and never as so much enquired or asked how her 2 grandchildren ever were , they are 5 and 7!
feeling a mixture of emotions right now, they were lousy parents in all honesty, she suffered health wise so maybe its for the best, dont even know when the funeral is!
Shunning is so far out of the pale of normal human behavior that there really can be no objectively right or wrong way to deal with the situation.
Just listen to your own heart and feelings on the matter and do what you think is best, to the best of your ability.
The family will likely criticise you whatever you decide to do, so I wouldn't really consider their opinions AT ALL on the subject.
Your mother. Your grief. Your choice.
from so many posts and conversations on here, you'd think over 1/2 the posters here possess doctorates in theology, physics, biology, etc.
i'm curious aside from the books and research people have done here, what degrees they have.
to start, i just got an aa and going straight through full time to an mba.

I'm so sorry. It's very sad that your children have never had a grandmother.
65 seems very young in this day and age. Wishing you peace.

my husband went to work with a terrible sinus infection today.
he works outdoors and it rained today, so i felt really bad for him and decided to cook him a nice dinner.. the local grocery store had a promotion in the month before easter where when you shop there for 4 weeks in a row you get a free easter ham.
we got the ham, i never coded it in my head as an easter ham, just a ham which, for us, is a very nice dinner.. so, today i popped the ham in the oven as a kind of consolation prize to my husband for having to work while sick today.. i completely forgot that today is good friday.
