Why are people burning their city to the ground in Baltimore? How doe Looting and Mob Violence Help?
by PokerPlayerPhil init's hard enough for businesses to enter these areas the government once had to offer up tax breaks to service them.
in watts, california it took decades for city residents to get a grocery store after the thugs burned their businesses to the ground.
you can see the insanity taking place, when you allow mobs and fools to burn building down nothing good comes from it.

True, Simon, the rate is high, especially considering that Baltimore has lost population in that time period. It used to have about twice the number of people. -

"We Already Forgive Him" - What Does That Mean?
by cofty inthe children of one of yesterday's shooting have told the media that they have already forgiven the killer for what he did.. dylaan roof has not apologised for what he did.
he hates black people and probably regrets not killing even more.. what does it really mean to forgive?.
if the legal system asked the victims relatives what they want done next would they ask for dylaan to go free and unpunished?.

I think this "I've forgiven him" stuff is bullshit and it irritates me when I hear it trotted out as if it's some enlightened Christian necessity. Jesus forgave us so we must forgive others.
Why would you ever forgive someone who has deliberately done an evil thing without remorse? People like that haven't asked for and don't want anyone's forgiveness. So why give it to them?
To follow the Christian model, one would have to ask for forgiveness of sins, just as Christians must ask Jesus for forgiveness of sins, or, as they say, accept the gift of forgiveness that He is offering.
It's not automatic, even according to themselves if they are truly following the model set by Jesus in the way he provides forgiveness of sins to Christians.

Being shunned only increases my certainty that the WBT$ is a cult
by punkofnice inwell, i don't wanna rant too much but sometimes things cut you don't they.. a family member had a get together for the family, jw and non jw and of course i wasn't invited being da'd.. i understand why they couldn't invite me but it just made me think.
in normal society this wouldn't happen.
i'd have been there.. the shunning is so unnatural and damaging.

If it's true that there have been 135 murders so far this year, then that is still below the historical rate. For many, many years, the homicide rate in Baltimore was over 300 annually. -

Help needed
by moley inas many of you on here will know, my sister and myself (along with others we know) were abused by a ms. .
my first memory as a child was of abuse and i've had and still am suffering from the affects due to mental health problems.
the abuser is now dead, but he was jailed for abuse of his own son previously so that nest of vipers will have known he was an abuser.

I have nothing of practical use to add, but just want to let you know that I am very angry on your behalf.
I only wish they could rot in the hell I don't believe in.

What the hell, what's the deal with Summons for Jury Service?

I've never been called and I've been on the voting rolls for at least 15 years. Then I hear that Maryland now uses drivers licenses to pull up prospective jurors and I've been driving for over 25 years!
Honestly, though, I don't know if I could sit in judgment of anyone after the years of JW judgment tyranny over every little thing.
James, I hope you don't have to pay for a doctor's visit just to get your paperwork signed!

Guns. Well said Mr President, if only your countrymen had the same courage to consider changing course.
by nicolaou inive had to make statements like this too many times.
communities like this have had to endure tragedies like this too many times.
once again, communities [were harmed] because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no problem getting their hands on a gun.. lets be clear: at some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.

Thanks, Simon and Morpheus for the info on tea. I've come to learn that there's always another side to history.
There was supposedly a local "tea party" during the same time in history here in Maryland in Chestertown. Memorial Day Saturday has reenactments of this, complete with men in historic dress and burlap "bales" of tea being thrown into the river.
Until the local college's history department undertook an effort to verify this historical happening and discovered that, in all likelihood, it never actually happened.

Hey, Simon, I've never heard the story where England reduced taxes on its tea making it cheaper.
Could you give us a little more info on that story?
The US never grew tea as far as I know. Was it available from somewhere else as well that the American colonists preferred?
Would love to hear more.

Richard Dawkins talking about a Creator
by FusionTheism inrichard dawkins admitted that information inside of dna, and the origin of life on earth, might point to intelligent designers, perhaps extraterrestrials.
(see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boncjbrrdq8 )richard dawkins further admitted, in a debate with francis collins for time magazine, that science might point to a creator existing, but that this creator might not be anything like yahweh:.
time: "could the answer be god?

What was the movie where the guy asked the girl out and she said she was 99% sure that she would never date him?
And he responds, "So, I have a chance?"
Was it Dumb and Dumber?
Anyhow, very funny!

Are atheists more likely to be morally good than Christians?
by FusionTheism ini have no problem saying atheists and christians are equal.. but some people seem to have the belief that atheists are more likely to be morally good, or more likely to change the world for good, than christians and theists.. but what evidence do you have to support this claim?.
if atheism is what causes people to do great positive things for the world, then why weren't martin luther king, jr., william wilberforce, isaac newton, francis collins, barack obama, mother theresa, abraham lincoln, or john f. kennedy atheists?.

The human mind is an amazing thing. It creates our reality. No supernatural stuff needed.
