Most interesting to me are the results for belief in heaven and hell.
89% do NOT believe in hell. OK.
However, belief in heaven is split. 50% do believe in heaven while 39% do NOT believe in heaven.
What? Maybe they didn't understand the question? Or were they trying to witness to the interviewer about the heavenly vs. earthly hope?
well tomorrow is a big day for me.
i'm finally going to be interviewed by the police about what happened to me as a kid.. im running the whole gamut of emotions at the moment.
sad, anxious, angry, guilt, fear and many more that cannot be quantified.. i feel physically sick, cannot sleep, have lost my appetite and i am desperately trying not to self harm.. i've got my sister to thank for getting this far.
So brave! Many can't or won't do what you are doing.
I hope you feel a tremendous amount of relief once you're finally able to give a voice to what has been hushed up for so long.
And, I bet that will create positive ripples in the rest of your life as well.

I'd never heard of 'home truths' either, and each word is simple enough that it could have been made up by the author with unclear intent.

Actually, Eden, upon reflection, you might actually be describing respect for someone's feelings in your scenario.
Regardless of beliefs, a person might have feelings that it's very important to help others. They might feel others' distress strongly.
That I could respect and in that case, I could agree with you.

In your scenario, it wasn't the belief that served the greater good of society. It was their choice of actions.
Two different things. They may seem to be correlated, but one does not necessarily follow the other.

"Due regard" needs to be matched to things that deserve due regard.
It is telling that 'beliefs' was not listed in the definition.

How can you say that? That is not part of the definition and it doesn't make sense that it should be.
"Feelings, wishes and rights" are completely unrelated to beliefs.
Unless you are speaking about the right of someone to have their own beliefs, which completely comports with the definition.

Eden, but your definition of respect is " due regard for the feelings, wishes or rights of others."
Your definition excludes beliefs. No where does it say 'due regard for the beliefs of others."
