each little flower that opens,each little bird that sings,he made their glowing colours,he made their tiny wings.. all of us have been moved by the riot of colours in a spring meadow, the majesty of a sunset or the beauty of a bird in breeding plumage.

what greater evidence could there be of a loving creator than our colourful world and the human eye that is equipped to appreciate it?.

this is the sort of simplistic argument that convinces a lot of creationists about their beliefs.. it's time to "unweave the rainbow".. light is detected by a proteins called opsins.

Can we just clear up the fact that "ignorant" is not an insult?

It simply means not having knowledge about something.

I'm perfectly ignorant on the subject of British history. It doesn't mean that I'm stupid or that I couldn't learn it, just that I never have had to learn it during my American schooling.

Gossiping

so last night we had some friends around for dinner, (not jw) & it was a really wonderful evening.

we talked about a variety of subjects, just had a laugh & drunk wine & beer.

this morning my husband & i were talking about how nice it was, how free we felt with our opinions.

Animals were created without needing Toilet Paper ... but not Man ... Why???

my dog and other pets do their "business" and run away and are happy.. man does not have that luxury.

any thoughts on why animals were created with the "poop and go" capacity while man has to go through more steps?

was this perhaps an additional issue that god added on when adam and eve sinned (such as eve having significant more birth pains)?

I used to have a long-haired cat with dingleberries.

When I took her to the groomers, I had to ask them to shave her butt!

They acted like it was an everyday request and didn't even charge extra.

Leaving jw propaganda all around the house, what to do?

the wife leaves it all around, not sure if this is by design i don't think so since the return to jah brochure was never left out.

it drives me a bit nuts but haven't done anything about it.

looking for ideas on what i should do?

I would just pick them all up and stack them in some obscure corner of the office in the name of tidying up.

Wives love when their husbands pitch in on the tidying!

Ladies: Circumcision or not?

the topic of circumcision has been brought up a few times recently.

then i wondered... .

how do women really view circumcision?

Circumcision gained popularity in the US during WWII. American soldiers were circumcised in a bid to prevent "venereal disease."

Then they came home and when they had sons of their own felt a strange need that son should look like Daddy, so circumcised them and it became popular for several decades.

Finally it was figured out that circumcision wasn't really all that effective at preventing sexually transmitted infections, but the trend was to cut.

It is slowly getting less popular in the US, but there is still a lot of talk about people being worried that son would look different than daddy which I really don't understand.

When my son was little and brought this up, my husband just told him the truth, "The doctor cut the end off when I was a baby." Son felt bad for his dad that he had a bad doctor that would do something like that! Easy peasy.

how do women really view circumcision?

I'm an American and I did not have my son circumcised. My opinion was that I was sick as a dog for the 9 months it took to grow him, so I wasn't letting anybody cut any part of his little body off.

Also, the American Academy of Pediatrics found no benefit for it and could not recommended it.

My husband is circumcised, but did his research on the subject. Watching a circumcision performed and the screaming that resulted on the internet put him in the firm NO camp, too.

My son is 14 years old now and has not requested a circumcision, so I think we made the right decision. :)

What's a word that describes the way Witnesses behave as a group?

i can't recall the word that describes a group that keeps to itself like the witnesses do.

i thought it was "insular" but i don't think that's the one i'm looking for after reading the definition.

i remember an elder using the word "clannish" and that has the proper definition but it reminds me of a group of elves.
