C'mon, who doesn't appreciate a good American snake-handling religion?
Real people, real snakes, what could go wrong?
john 1:46 but nathanael said to him :can anything good come out of nazareth?".
i ask the same thing about religion and america the birth place of not a few "christian faiths" ?.

i saw a statistic the other day that something like 25% of all the debt that the us has incurred since 1776 was created in the last 12 months.
that's because they have printed so much currency and instead of letting that stop them, they are going to continue printing more to go on a spending spree on crazy green-new-deal schemes and union handouts.. does anyone think that this can be anything other than inflationary?
they are effectively stealing the wealth of everyone to then hand money out to people.
Econ 101 still says that printing money does create inflation.
But, I concede your point that scarcity of goods and services does as well.
You can see that right now in the housing market. Everybody wants to buy but there is not enough supply. Therefore potential buyers run up the price in competition with each other.
You can't find a house to buy in my neighborhood, but when one comes on the market, you'll pay $400,000 for what was $350,000 last year. And it's easier for people to afford the extra cost because interest rates are so low.

Any opinions about Bitcoin?
Quite a few young people dumping the stock market and buying Bitcoin.
I foggily understand it, but I can't really predict the repercussions on the economy.
I'm not talking about mining it because few people have the ability to do that. From what I understand, you can buy it like you can securities, but there's no regulation at all. It's a bit of the Wild, wild west.
But, then again, my foggy understanding might be, well, foggy.
BTW, I dumped most of my stocks last year and moved my investments in a more conservative direction. I think Wall Street is wobbly and I'm waiting for a market correction.

Yes. In a low interest rate environment borrowers make out and investors lose.
In a high interest rate environment borrowers lose and investors make out.
Remember in the early 80s you couldn't afford to buy a house because the interest rates were 18%?
But, if Grandma kicked off, you were making money hand over fist with your inheritance.
And if you had bought a house previously and were now paying it off with inflated dollars, you were REALLY making out!
I also remember when VHS movies were $80 to purchase. That's why Blockbuster was such a success. I think there's only one of them left in Alaska now or something.

I would think Watchtower should be considering updated business models.
They should think about the televangelist/megachurch model.
Keep large assembly halls for the faithful that want to and are able to show up for services.
Home broadcast for the rest.
This could be successful as long as they don't give in to the temptation to denigrate those that only watch at home as 'less spiritual.'
And I think that would be their go to.
They've got to stop shooting themselves in the foot.
so the cult is building movie studios and making films or propaganda d movies of jesus.
my question is how do they plan to make their investment back?
my guess is that they are hoping that this somehow brings in converts.
Agree that it's to keep existing membership in and contributing.
Nothing they have done recently gives any indication that they have any expectations of bringing in outsiders, regardless of their faux witnessing videos acted out by shadow people.

Well, if you want to slow down inflation, you raise interest rates.
The Fed can do that.
so it looks like about half of my jw relatives are not going back to the meetings once they open up the kingdom halls.
the main reason all of them give is that if we were truly living in the last days, jehovah would not have allowed the door to door preaching work, and kingdom hall meetings to stop for over a year.. the elders have talked to some of them and tried to convince them that letter writing is accomplishing the same thing as door to door, and zoom is the same as meetings-----------but my relatives just won’t buy it anymore.
just a note here, at first, the kingdom hall lock-downs, and the no preaching door to door was not that bad,the relatives still held on to their faith strongly because they believed it was temporary.
Yeah, I do sometimes feel bummed that evil people won't get what's coming to them and good people won't get do overs. That's a tough one to get over.
I don't have any miraculous words of wisdom to help people get over it, either.
At some level they understand the reality that the world's a rough place, that might be what drew them in or kept them in the religion with its hopes of righting wrongs and making everything right one day.
But, now they have to sit with the fact that the world's a rough place and it's up to them to make the best of it. You live once and that's it. In some ways that's comforting because that leaves the effort to have a good life in your own hands and that's now allowable, unlike living life under the JW regime.
I'm sure your relatives can see that you've created a decent life for yourself so that means it is possible for them, too.

i've been spending more time studying my history interests via the internet and its many possibilities.
one area is quite interesting.
Younger men do seem to be getting more accepting of fancy underwear.
My brother in law (totally straight) became aware of a certain brand of "ball hammock" underwear that has a special pouch for support and that come in crazy designs.
So, my son and husband were both gifted a 3 Month Underwear of the Month Club Voucher for Christmas.
Boxer briefs of all sorts began arriving in discreet packages in the mail shortly thereafter.
My husband didn't care for the "hug" and sent them on to my son who wears them.
But, in general, he's just looking for something clean.
