  Without the constant indoctrination at the meetings and in field service people wised up and left.

  Wow. Must hurt to realize the only reason many people stay in their little religion is because they need constant coercion.

  Well, shit, Jeffro, I should've read your comment before I commented on another thread.

  Yes, exactly, there is no way to leave the religion without being penalized in some fashion.

  Also, there are huge amounts of people who said sorry and were still disfellowshipped, myself included. People think it's just that easy because they've never been in front of a committee.

  In fact, we've seen leaked videos that elders are trained with that encourage taking a harsh line, that sorry isn't enough.

  Elders will disfellowship whomever they want as long as they can come up with some kind of limp justification.

  I would just love to be a fly on the wall at the next elders meeting.

  But, hey everyone, look at the beards and pants!!!

  ) back in 1972, a new book was released at the summer district convention, that replaced the yellow-colored "lamp": book.

  I also remember that disassociated ones weren't treated the same as the disfellowshipped.

  If someone just didn't want to be a JW, then fine. You could still talk to them. Just no spiritual discussion.

  Now it's the exact opposite.

  Disassociated people are vermin because they are apostates and apostasy is a sin worse than any other.

  Whereas before, there was more of a don't ask, don't tell policy. Somebody disassociated themselves, you didn't ask why, and you didn't assume they were apostates.

  The water was further muddied when the GB created the notion that someone could disassociate themselves by their actions, like taking a blood transfusion or joining the military.

  This was a sneaky move that served to hide their draconian policies. We won't bother to create a judicial committee and disfellowship you, you are just persona non grata. And we can gaslight you and the world by saying you did it to yourself. Audacious!

  Plausible deniability to the secular authorities; we don't shun people who believe differently!

  In my opinion progress would be going back to disassociating simply meaning no spiritual association. It would actually get the secular authorities off their back because the most egregious thing is that there is no way to leave the religion without harm.

  To me all these so-called liberalizing DF changes are actually going backward. More nosy elders in more business more often.

  Someone has a vested interest in making it seem like "JWlite" is new vocabulary being used by many Witnesses, and also that all the cool JWs feel this way.

  Quite a few of you are picking up on the multiple accounts being the same person. If you're not sure exactly how you know, I can tell you. As a teacher who has taught writing, it's that nearly intangible thing called, "voice."

  It's okay if you don't remember the term, but good job for remembering the lesson. That's really all that teachers hope for anyway.

  jehovaxx, you are truly a JW apologist. You make yourself sound like you're so progressive and want a changed, softer organization.

  But, above all, you want the organization.

  And, if you want the organization, then own it. Admit you need it.

  Most of us here don't want it, changed or not. Softer or not. Easier or not. JWlite or not.

  Because their base form will not change. They are a high control religion as proven by a simple snap of the fingers - You can now say hello to disfellowshipped ones - and every exJW's phone blows up.

  Elder bodies will still disfellowship people and make them stay out as long as they wish because, at a base level, they are corrupt.

  Because the appropriate thing to do is to realize that disfellowshipping itself is wrong! It's truly none of their business how people dress, or how they have sex or what their spiritual beliefs are.

  There is no way, no how that The Disfellowshiping Arrangement is okay. It is unscriptual, if that matters to you, and certainly immoral.

  So, a little window dressing on this arrangement not only doesn't matter, but is, frankly, insulting to those of us who have been a victim of it.

  All I ask is an apology. That's all. It's a small thing. After all, we teach small children to apologize when they've hurt others.

  Even the fucking Pope apologized.

  But, not the Governing Body. No, they are stiff-necked, haughty, and refuse to acknowledge the harm they've caused.

  Too bad I don't believe in it, but they can go to hell. Oh, they're getting their reward now. Imagine if they actually lost their room, board and medical care? Better keep this old ship upright! Nothing else matters as much as keeping the money coming in. Oh my, what kind of opium can we give to the masses?

  And THIS is what they've come up with?!?

  Massaging the Disfellowshipping Arrangement, and relaxing dress and grooming standards is not going to cut it.

  Nobody's coming back because of that. Most PIMOs won't stay for that, and if PIMQs have been questioning, well they are really questioning now.

  See, the organization's problem is the ORGANIZATION!

  So, great, admit that you love and need the organization.

  We don't need it, in fact we abhor it. It's created its own problems and now its existence is the biggest problem.

  Oh, and have a great Wednesday. It's hump day.

  Will recent dress-code changes affect the WTS negatively?

  in a span of a few months time, we have had many unexpected changes announced by the jw organization.

  some here have expressed the belief that a great number of witnesses will leave the religion.

  in fact, there is a great probability the opposite will be true.. yeah, ancient hardliners will have a hard time assimilating these changes, but the younger generation will likely welcome these changes.

  This might make it easier on folks who are still there, but it's not gonna make anybody want to come back!

  I never understood the whole dresses being more modest than pants thing. For God's sake, dresses leave everything out in the air! Pants cover it up and put good distance between your hooha and sudden breezes or even upskirt shots!

  Dresses and skirts make many women feel very vulnerable.

  Also, the whole "visible panty lines" thing just made me scratch my head. Like, you're surprised I'm wearing underwear? Don't you?!?

  The last time (many years ago) that I visited the hall, I wore pants anyway. I didn't really care about JW dress codes then and I don't now. I still don't want to go back.

  during lett’s announcement that beards are now allowed he elaborated at some length how brothers ought to feel and react to the change in policy.

  he warned brothers not to resent not being able to grow beards earlier if they had wished to do so.

  he also warned brothers who supported the old policy not to allow themselves to wonder what the point of doing so was now that it has changed.

  Where is Tony?

  on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

  a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.

  in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

  The only reason the gossip hasn't gotten out yet: there's likely an NDA.

  A legal Non-Disclosure Agreement might be the only thing that can shut down the JW gossip mill.

  If I had to make a wager, I'd bet Tony lawyered up to negotiate his exit.
