It's standard around here to wash your hair everyday, too. I wash it every other day, but on that second day I feel like I look awful compared to others.

Thank you for posting these pictures. I never realized that there were so many Christian churches in China, and old ones at that. The ones that looked obviously Russian were amazing.
I'm glad that you are finally getting to go on your long awaited trip to China. I certainly hope Qantas holds it together for you!
Please bring back lots of photos and share them with us, will you?

Yes, my parents are always talking about "one of the friends" when telling me about someone in their hall.
It's a phrase that's often used in elementary schools around here. It turns my stomach every time I hear another teacher say something like, "When one of our friends is speaking, we need to be respectful..."

My husband's family came over from Poland at about that time. They settled in a Polish enclave in an East coast city. For many years, they admonished their children to marry other Polish folks. By the early 1990s, it was reduced to, "Marry a nice Catholic girl." So, my husband married a nice Jehovah's Witness. LOL. That didn't go over so well at first.

Good film clip. Exchange one of the guys for a girl and its a love story that anyone could relate to.
So, really, even with 2 guys everybody should be able to relate to it.

HOME SCHOOL and the upcoming generation of scientifically illiterate kids
by Terry inwhen i worked for a book store i became familiar with beka text books for home school.. i spoke with the mothers who came looking for them.
i realized something didn't smell right.. then, i realized there are a couple of generations of fundamentalist kids who have had no exposure.
to the scientific method, science facts or any conversancy with physics or biology or history as a result of beka textbooks.. in a nutshell here is the situation:.

And why do you seem so put upon just because myself and others are doing the critical thinking that you advocate?

You say, Shadow, that you neither advocate nor condemn one choice over the other, but you seem to only be able to advocate for homeschooling without finding any balancing information about its downside. That makes you appear biased.
