the voice trailed off, but the meaning was clear: use one of those knives on yourself!.
my niece in atlanta reported a similar experience when she was prescribed the same anti-depressants following a stillborn delivery.. i'm curious.. has anyone else experienced something like this?.
Nonjwspouse, my sympathies to your son for having to deal with bipolar disorder, but he handled his episode perfectly by getting to the doctor asap.
Personally, I feel like a general practioner doesn't have the expertise to deal with psychiatric drugs and symptoms. I always recommend seeing a psychiatrist even for a run of the mill depression. There are so many classes of drugs and combinations that can be tried to get the best result.

A small percentage of people who take antidepressants will have a paradoxical reaction meaning that the meds worsen the symptoms they are supposed to be treating. I once tried to switch to wellbutrin, but it made me extremely depressed. So, I went off of it and went back to the antidepressant I had originally been taking. I have taken these lifesaving drugs for years since I was diagnosed with Postpartum Onset Bipolar disorder.
This paradoxical effect is not confined to psychiatric drugs. Some people find themselves wide awake after taking benadryl in over the counter sleeping pills. I have this effect from alcohol. I hear it is supposed to relax you, but when I drink, my anxiety spikes and I feel like climbing the walls.
The important thing to remember with antidepressants is that if it makes you feel worse, stop taking them! They often advise that it might take several weeks before they start working and to keep on taking them, but that is different than them making you feel even more depressed or even psychotic. If that happens, stop taking them immediately and call your doctor. There's likely another drug that will work better with your body chemistry.

Sadly, the election and, even more so, the reelection of President Obama has brought out the extreme faction of racists in this country. They also tend to be virulently religious and have taken the political discourse to the far right.
For the first time in my life, after hearing about people being fired from their jobs because they had Obama bumper stickers displayed on their vehicles, I have felt afraid to voice my support for a candidate. I equally feel unsafe stating that I am not religious. To state that you are an atheist would be to invite danger in some conservative quarters, like the area where I now live. Thus, the term agnostic is extremely useful in the US right now.

Magnum, there were pioneers. But, they were either wives supported by their husbands, young people supported by their parents or retired folks with pensions.
I think when those types of talks about Can you do more since we are so close to the end? were given, they were taken at face value as a question and the answer in these parts was No, I can't do it personally since I have a family and a mortgage, but I could support my wife in doing so or my adult child in doing so. And, I can always pioneer when I retire.

I think one thing I ve learned from this thread is that JWdom is practiced somewhat differently in different places. Honestly, that house did not shock me. Plenty of JWs in my parents hall have homes like this. Many own their own little business empires. The area I grew up in had few pioneers. Everyone owned their own homes, modest though they were. It wasnt considered untheocratic to do so or to have a decent job, though most wives did stay home in the 70s and 80s.
I just never saw people giving up everything to pioneer, though they were very zealous in meetings and weekend service. My dad was an elder who had a good job and was able to retire at age 60. He now pioneers. He's always owned a home. He raised 3 kids and my mother stayed at home. She did not pioneer, but she was and still is obsessed with the WT.
But, more I hang out on this forum the more I realize that as dysfunctional as my upbringing was, I was spared the worst of the craziness.

i took up cycing a couple of months ago just to get fitter and lose a bit of excess weight.. i bought a second-hand hybrid bike (weighs only slightly less than a truck) and fitted road tyres.
four or five times a week i will go for a ride after work for an hour or so.
i am fortunate enough to live in rural north england surrounded by limitless quiet roads.
