Glad to hear from you, Shattered Reality. It sounds like you have your head straight. I'm sorry you're in the jam that you're in, but it sounds like you are considering your children's needs first. You are truly a loving mom. I agree that keeping the kids in good schools is important. Good luck with your job search.

Personal responsibility is there from the beginning. Yes, you may fall under undue influence, but to do evil things is still evil.
Your child dies because through undue influence you believe witholding blood transfusions to be pleasing to God. That is still an evil act that you have perpetrated. I feel bad for your delusion, but you are still responsible for your choices.
I personally think that these lovely deluded people who allow their children to die should be charged for manslaughter.

Happy Columbus Day

Yes, Columbus did have a genocide and enslavement problem. Teaching the lower elementary grades, I've always just ignored the holiday. The other teachers didn't usually do more than just hand out coloring sheets, anyhow.
If I were to teach older students, I could see how talking about the two different ideas about the size of the earth might be a worthwhile endeavor.
_______________________________________________
Essential Question: How did two differing ideas about the size of the Earth impact Columbus' ability to secure funding for his proposed voyage to Asia?
1. Research what was known about the size and shape of the Earth in the 15th century. Were there dissenting views?
2. Asia had been previously reached over land routes to the east of Europe. How did the idea arise that sailing west to reach Asia might be possible?
3. Research the proposed economic benefit of finding a sea route to Asia.
4. What were Columbus' beliefs about the size of the Earth? Why, then did he propose his voyage?
Assessment: Answer the Essential Question in an essay format.

I believe this lesson plan could be implemented in 6th or 7th grade.

At least the Canadians get a long weekend. Americans celebrate on Thursday, smack in the middle of the work week.

Where and How HIV infections (Aids) spread to Humans
by fulltimestudent infrom the time that hiv infections came to the notice of the medical community, scientists have been attempting to trace its origins.. .
an electron microscope scan of a huv-1 virion budding from a cultured lymphocyte.
if the above process was occurring in your body, you would be in for a lot of problems.. the latest research conclusions are that the first cases occurred around the year 1920, in the african city of kinshasa, now captital of the democratic republic of congo.. scientists have been able to track at least 13 transmissions from apes to humans, but only one transmision involved the hiv-1 virus group that has resulted in some 75 million human infections to this time.. the team of scientists involved in this study see the following factors being involved in the development of the pandemic.

My son who is 13 desperately wants to visit the UK. He's a railfan and is obsessed with the Flying Scotsman. I think he also believes he might meet up with some of his Minecraft friends.
I told him we could go when he graduates from High School. That's only 5 years away. I'd better start saving!

I have a bad habit of not making enough encouraging posts. I like to post when I feel I have something to add, but if others have posted what I was thinking, I won't usually say anything. Some of the threads I find most interesting I don't post on because others have said what I'm thinking.
Poor spelling doesn't bother me unless someone is bragging about how smart and educated they are and then makes lots of grammar and spelling mistakes. I find the more I'm on here, the less sure I am about American spelling. Sometimes I really have to think about whether I should spell it 'neighbor' or 'neighbour' or whether I should spell 'organization' with a z or an s!
