Why are people burning their city to the ground in Baltimore? How doe Looting and Mob Violence Help?
by PokerPlayerPhil init's hard enough for businesses to enter these areas the government once had to offer up tax breaks to service them.
in watts, california it took decades for city residents to get a grocery store after the thugs burned their businesses to the ground.
you can see the insanity taking place, when you allow mobs and fools to burn building down nothing good comes from it.

I live near Baltimore as well. I watched the news reporting live for 6 hours last evening. A few things:
1. The original violence seemed to be perpetrated by kids. You saw many school uniforms and backpacks. They had been on social media talking about it during the school day. The violence broke out at about 3 pm, just after school let out.
2. The Baltimore police were told to stand down by the mayor. She said this was research-based "best practices" so as not to inflame a crowd already angry with the police.
3. Multiple other jurisdictions were called in during this time.
4. After 4 hours, at 7 pm, the mayor asked the governor to call in the National Guard. He immediately declared a state of emergency and the National Guard was called up.
5. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has imposed a 10pm to 5am curfew starting tonight and lasting a week.
6. There were multiple leaders of local churches that put themselves between the police line and the rioters attempting to calm them down. They marched through the streets with the police line behind them. This seemed to calm the crowd somewhat. However, by this time, the violence had spread to other parts of the city.
7. The actions were roundly criticised by black city leaders and most citizens interviewed on the local news channel, WBAL. On another station, there was footage of a mother beating a teenage boy. When asked what was going on, she said this was her son and he was one of the rioters. She was enraged by his behavior.
8. After 8pm, fires broke out in multiple areas of the city.
I turned off the television by 9 pm, but these are the events reported on local TV up till that time.

Went to a Catholic Funeral Today
by Captain Schmideo2 init was for a dear friend of the family that i have known all my life.now, bear in mind that i was born and raised jw, so my experience with catholic ceremonies can be counted on three fingers, a wedding, a "regular" mass, and this funeral mass.once they got down to the actual speaking about the deceased, i felt emotionally involved, but prior to that, i was watching and had questions about aspects of the services (these i have seen in common for all three times i have been in an rc church):why the "sing-song" voice during the prayers?
does god hear it better if you sound all spooky tenor?i observe that every time a reading from one of the gospels takes place, it is preceded by a big musical number:"alleluiah!
alleluiah"( "and nowwwwwwwwwwwwwww, heeeeeeeeeeeeeere's jesus!".

Hey, Tirebiter. The Easter Vigil I attended was over 3 hours long! Maybe they're usually shorter, but I'm not taking the chance again. -

The poor and deprived life of JW children.
by Esse quam videri ini find it hard to believe that adults on this forum make such a big deal about not celebrating birthdays, x-mas, easter, halloween, etc, etc, etc.
i grew up as a jw kid and it actually made me feel good, being different from the other kids in school.
we went to meetings.

I never missed those things as a child, either, because I had never experienced them. But, as I started enjoying them as an adult, I finally understood what I had missed out on and it became very clear that I could never deprive my own children of such joyous experiences.
Also, adults would buy magazines from me when I was small just because I was cute. I clearly remember being jolted by that understanding when I became a teenager and there were no more "pity" sales.

Questions for those that believe in Electricity

Actually, I'm now convinced that the Theory of Amperage must be true.
However, these electrons couldn't have started moving on their own! I just can't believe in Spontaneous Voltage! God must have provided the first divine Volt!

"Your good example is much needed for the young ones the congregation."
by Yondaime inhey guys n gals, sorry its been such a long time since i've posted.
lately i've been very busy balancing between my school work and cult activities.
since i've been doing pretty well "spiritually"(enough field-circus hours, attending meetings, underlining my literatrash, reading, praying and serving as the mic-master) my coordinator grabbed me to the side after a meeting and talked to me for twenty minutes straight congratulating me about how good i am doing.. then he paused for a good five seconds and got all serious.. then he proceeded to tell me that the young ones in the hall aren't doing too well.

Waiting for them to drop the hour requirements to 5 to 6 hours simply because no one is qualifying anymore.
