Cappy, I've been very impressed with you lately. This move must have been good for you.
Freedom to think; great to have it, isn't it?
a year to a year and a half ago, i would have taken this article at face value and believed it.. now, i realize this article comes from a dubious source.
world news daily has a die-hard right-wing bias.
so, in an effort to get real information, i'm asking my european exjw's, is this article all true?

i recently started working at a goodwill here in wisconsin, and i've never encountered more witnesses ever in my life.
every time i go to work, i see at least two or three people that i used to go to the kingdom hall with getting suits, dresses, etc.
some of them say hi, but some of them i just ignore, or they ignore me.
We had to always shop the sales racks for clothes. Sometimes you could go into a nice store and find a clearance rack where things had been marked down multiple times. You didn't get the greatest selection, but some of the stuff was decent. I still use this trick today to round out my wardrobe.
What I felt like I never had enough of was shoes. My dad believed that you got one pair of dress shoes for summer and one pair for winter. Then, you got one pair of athletic shoes and a separate pair of sturdy school shoes. No cute little girl flats or other cute shoes that a girl might like. I feel like if we didn't have to spend money on dress shoes that I could have had decent shoes for everyday.
I had it better than my sister, though, who got stuck with a lot of my hand-me-downs. I remember one time getting a box of hand-me-downs from a family at the hall and that's the only time.
Now once my baby brother was the only one left at home, they could afford to buy him pretty much what he wanted.
a hilarious stupid wa message is being circulated amongst jws in my area / country.. i had a hearty laugh at the ignorance and stupidity and brainwashed mentality, different people may express different emotions so you have been warned.
day one after armageddon it seems ages since we last heard the gunshots and screams, today has been really quiet.
the last few weeks have been sheer terror.
for some reason, i love autumn .
i always did as kid.
warm days, and cool nights, changing leaves, sunny days of the indian summer or eastern european equivalent called "grandma summer".
the us elections suck up all the attention (and it's not even at the candidate selection stage!
) but canada actually has a national election today.. first results are starting to come in and so far it's all liberal party.. i think it's time harper and the conservatives got the boot.
last premiere from the bush era.
So, Orphan, I'm trying to understand the going back to the polls thing. When would that happen? If parliament is all locked up and won't pass any laws?
I mean, the US has had a do-nothing Congress for years since the conservatives have Congress and we have a liberal president. That's status quo here! (Tongue in cheek, guys. We know it's a problem.) However, we only have regularly scheduled elections, so there's nothing to be done until the term of office is up.
Do they all just throw up their hands and call for an election? What would a triggering event be?

Thanks, Simon. I wonder if the reason politics is so volatile in the states is because it's basically a two party system, so if you're in a small party like the green party you never get representation. Hmm...
So, anyhow, you're voting for everybody: PM and representatives. The whole federal shebang!
Yeah, maybe we all should be paying more attention...

That is a very clever political ad! You don't "get it" until the end. Watch it, everyone!
Now, pardon me if my ignorance is showing, but is a "riding" a voting district? Is it determined by population?
Also, are you just voting for prime minister or also representatives for parliament? The US splits those elections up, but I shouldn't assume it's the same everywhere.
And, is it "winner takes all" or is there proportional representation?
I apologize for my ignorance, but in my 16 plus years of education I have never once learned anything about the Canadian government. Pretty pathetic, now that I think of it.

Why oh why would they go outside to try to stop the violent guy?
It's like when you're watching a horror movie and you're thinking, " No! Don't hide behind the chainsaw!"
Like there's no way that couldn't have gone horribly bad!

Sorry on behalf of the US. We do have a bad habit of assuming either everyone on the internet is American or everyone wants to hear everything about Americans.
I hope the liberals get in.
How late till all the votes are counted?
in short:- tight pants is no longer just a am3 hang up (or is that a hang up on the well hung?
)- brothers who have effeminate body language are flagged up- as are sisters with 'masculine' hair styles or dress- such dress is 'disturbing to the congregation'- the above must heed the (repeated) counsel from the elders...or they get stripped of the right to share on the ministry- however...this will not be revealed (announced) to the congregation.
wow.
I have heard some XMormons say that their beliefs were weird but not as crazy as Jehovah's Witnesses.
I always thought theirs was weirder, with the whole rule your own planet thing.
Maybe our stuff just sounds less weird, Simon because it was our weird stuff and we were used to it.
But, yeah, Scientology is nutty. But, at least they don't believe in the god of the bible.
