I had very much wanted to a US Marshall, FBI agent, etc. but of course was not allowed to pursue those fields. "What if you shot someone?" My answer: They probably had it coming by putting my life in danger, which I have a right to defend.
Basically, anything besides scrubbing toilets, washing windows, or doing hard manual labor all day was frowned upon. College? <<<GASP>>>

First, I have to say that I like reading your posts. Second, your wife sounds like a totally unsupportavie, holier than thou, spoiled bitch with a negative attitude and needs to have her "thinking readjusted." My I recommend that you enforce your God-given authority as "head of the household," in order to tell her how you REALLY feel about her blowing off your observations, research, and feelings.
Just by your posts about her, I can only gather what a for a close-minded robot she must act like. I'd rather get a divorce than live how you do, and we on here probably don't hear 1/10th of what you probably have to put up with.

The double-standard answer Russell gave is just disgusting when you think about it! He basically claims that the flying wing sun-disk is ok to use as a symbol of Christianity because he made it symbolize something good, so it's REALLY ok! Now, we all know JW's don't celebrate holidays, why? Because the Bible commanded us to, "Turn away from the disgusting things," you know - like Christmas trees, Easter, etc!
You gotta love this reasoning. It's ok for JW's to have pagan symbols, because they aren't really pagan to them anymore. But the rest of the "World" is condemed for using old pagan symbols in their worship of Christ. What a forked-tongue, hypocritical way of thinking! I'm just sickened by it all. Do as we say, period 'cause we are always right! Guess what? According to the Awake! magazine it's ok to use Pinatas, doesn't matter they were once pagan. Guess thriving 3rd world countries with high numbers of JW converts get a free pass when it comes to their own "traditons and holdays".
This type of using "two different" scales to measure, is what really started opening my eyes, right along with the lack of love and not one giving a crap if you were alive or dead.
Sometimes, I just want to walk into the KH and ask, "Can you just feel the love in here?" Yeah right, it's as loving as a used car lot.

Mental Illness - diagnosed for me
by Crumpet ini've long known, and most of you probably have as well, that there was something not all there with me.
mostly i put it down to me being bad.
questions i've never been asked before.

I'm so sorry to hear of your problems; I had no idea you were so severe. But....you are not alone! My father was severely bi-polar / manic-depressive, and I grew up around this. I myself, have many anxiety issues, panic attacks, rage, etc. They really came on strong about 18, after I graduated high school and was in college. Being a JW who was socially inept and sheltered only made the college scene worse. I was playing catch-up it seemed.
Anyway, I've been on Buspar, Zoloft, Atavan, Valuim, Zanax, etc over the course of a few years. Seems they'd work for a while, then fade off. It was hell on me physically, with the side effects being laziness, tired, not tired, weight gain, caring about nothing, dizziness, etc. Finally, January of 2006 I had enough of it and asked my doctor (a D.O.) if there was any way I could get off of this stuff and on to some kind of all-natural stuff that has helps moods, etc. What he suggested was the highest dose of St. John's Wert. I picked some up at GNC and haven't put it down since.
Here's what I've discovered, and this may not work for everyone: It takes my depression away without making me tired, and has left me a bit more manic, so I am more of a productive person. With the additional energy and drive, I have lost 30 pounds and still losing. I am much more happier. But with anything, there are drawbacks. I take a 500mg pill with each meal (3 times a day) and if I miss ANY, I feel the withdrawl. You must take it, no matter what. I never thought much about natural medicines, but this one works for me. Besides, the Chinese have been using this stuff for like, what, 2000 years? They must be on to something.
Anyway, that is just my experience. I'm glad that you are getting help Crumpet. You are on the right road. Who knows? Maybe someday we will finally meet and I can see what for a wonderful person you are.

What floats my boat? One word: CRUMPET!!!! She is breathtakingly beautiful in that English way. I can't even imagine how sexy her accent must be. Every time I see her name I get giddy wondering what for new photo she may be using on her profile.
