by cantleave inso last night i was having a wonderful meal in a very nice restaurant when we heard what we thought was a loud clap of thunder.................. it was a bomb.

I'm betting the "religion of peace" has something to do with it. I've been to Bangkok as well. Not the safest city, but I enjoyed my experience. Hard Rock Cafe was jumping the night I went to treat our Thai hosts to dinner. -

JW to SDA anyone do it ?
by Introvert 2 ina couple friends pointed me to some info on the sabbath and i just plain like it, being the workaholic i am it's a lifesaver for me and gives me the motivation to be more balanced about my business and work schedule.
so from there i looked into the adventists and found a hall near my place and went last week.
i honestly enjoyed myself and the meeting time is not disruptive and the people were great and pretty laid back.

A bit of clarification is in order: IBSA / JW's are NOT an offshoot of SDA's. SDA's and IBSA / JW's are kissing cousins, having been born of the Milleritte Movement. Russell borrowed some "crazy" from the SDA's sure enough, but then added in his own crazy occult pyramidology, Freemasonry inclinations, etc into the pot to create his own stew of mathematical occult gibberish.
I'm in Pennsylvania, birthplace of all of this end-times Apocalyptic CRAP. SDA's around here do a lot of good, have a lot of schools, etc. However, they are just as "cult-like" as the JW's, and I've also heard of controlling Elder bodies, harassment, Pharasitical behaviour, and (Drum roll) - SHUNNING. They are only slightly lower on the rung of cults. My list of crazy would read like this:
1.) Scientology
2.) FLDA
3.) Branch Dravidians (an offshoot of SDA's, by the way!!!)
4.) Mormon / LDS
5.) JW's / IBSA
6.) SDA's

badly handled from Elders
by Olivia Wilde ini am still attending the kh, i actually recently became aware of the ttatt, what i believed came as a huge surprised for me, i wasn't raised as a jw and have been for about 15 years.
i have always been a very open minded individual all my life always seeing both sides of any situation with logic and common sense and so i believe discovering all of the doctrines i have been taught sense 16 years of age, wasn't extremely hard for me to realize in my heart it was a lie.
well it was me discovering the watchtower society being a ngo member of the un nations for 10 years, after that the snowball just got bigger for me.

I'd find this person somewhere.......out and about some evening where it's quite and they are alone. I'd then proceed to kick the living dog shit out of them. I'd beat them to within an inch of their petty lives. I wouldn't kill them, they'd just wish they were dead. I'd then ask them, "What are you going to do about it? Tell the phony Elders? There aren't two witnesses to your slanderous accusations. How do YOU like being beat down, you punk bitch?" I'd of course be wearing lead-sap gloves, so that I wouldn't bruise my hands, only their ribs & face with each blow. That's what a chronic, abusive, self-centered narcissist like that deserves. A freakin' beat-down. -

Geriatric Ward. That's what I'd call it. I'm 36, in Central PA, only 3.5 hrs from Brooklyn HQ. KH's around here look like ghost towns or old folks homes. Last time I set foot into one on a Sunday (OMG, nearly 10 years ago now), 2/3rd's of the KH was empty. I'd say 80-90% of kids over 18 that I grew up with have LEFT, never to return. And I tell you, there were a lot of "good" kids that I never would have imagined to leave, that have left, married, had kids, and are living a normal "worldly" life, filled with activities that "normal" people do. How do I know? Facebook profiles and photos of their families and vacations tell me so, along with profile info as well as other sources. It's absolutely amazing. People are truly fed up with this crap. Only minorities and the under-educated are falling for this craptacular cult. -

Local used car salesman Elder would ask needy person to buy a lemon at great profit only to himself, then pass it off as "Charity" the Congregation and walk around claiming he's so "blessed" to be a "Prince among men, one of God's stars."
JW's would NEVER give someone a car, never! Not Pioneers, not Elders, no one! Even CO's who are "given" cars are given cars paid for by other JW's!

Is the Assembly Hall powered by solar power? My 2200 sqft home has an electric bill of $200.00 per month. How much do you think a building that size electric bill is? Utilities cost a LOT. I know....as I also help design LEED certified buildings in the commercial and industrial building industry. Upkeep on property costs a lot, even if you have volunteers doing a lot of it.
I'm not saying the Org isn't skimming a good bit off the top though. That's more than probable.

I believe that the greater percentage of JWs-You Will Not Be Able to Help, no Matter What Facts You Show Them.
by John Aquila inso i ran into this brother whom ive known for a while and the conversation led into me being invited to come back to the kingdom hall.
we talked for about an hour during which time i explained to him 607 being the wrong date and a lot of other stuff including the child abuse cases in australia.
but what i wanted to relate was the last few minutes of our conversation.

The Royal Commission and Watchtower - A game changer
by Hidden-Window ini had finished watching all the videos on the royal commission's investigation of jehovah's witnesses (yes, i know more videos are being released).
i am still processing the information of everything that has emerged.
i do not plan to cover it all here, but i would like to point out that it is patently obvious that some of the wt representatives provided misleading information.

Cults don't change. In fact, I'd wager that they'll buckle down twice as hard and try to oust any dissenters and leave only a smaller, more fanatical, more zealous group of brain-dead followers. In the JW's, if you have a brain you are to leave it at the door or else don't bother being baptized. -

Washington Post: JW the least willing religion to deal with child sexual abuse
by adjusted knowledge inthe church, which was founded in pennsylvania in the 1870s to promote a first century interpretation of the bible and is now headquartered in brooklyn, has emerged as the least able or willing to deal with sexual abuse within its ranks, according to annie cousins, a law professor at the university of new south wales and an expert in sex crimes who is a consultant to the inquiry.. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/jehovahs-witnesses-face-child-sex-abuse-investigation-in-australia/2015/08/14/d8a58eda-406e-11e5-9561-4b3dc93e3b9a_story.html.
now i know that annie cousins is not of the high caliber expert witness as the jw expert monica applewhite but i think cousins makes a great observation..

SUPERMAN'S GLASSES, the perfect disguise for people who think like comic book characters: Jehovah's Witnesses
by Terry inwhat will happen when 8 million jw's look on the witness stand before the royal commission this friday?
will they see superman.
or only clark kent?___________in the comic books, when superman shows up, readers of the comic already know clark kent has made an excuse to disappear.

Have I ever run into and been fooled by a total phony in my lifetime? Sure have! Case in point, my sister-in-law.
She's the CEO of a Bank. Dresses the part. Is respected in the community because she does everything someone in her position is supposed to do. Does all manner "charity" work. Goes to church every Sunday. Helps with the Blood Drive. Used to teach Sunday School. Isn't she swell? NOT.
My sister-in-law is a two-faced, manipulative, conniving, egotistical, self-centered narcissist with a messiah complex, who lacks true empathy or remorse for anyone but herself. She only cares about people that somehow benefit HER and her goals. Everyone else is expendable. Think I'm kidding? How else could someone who started as a bank teller claw her way up to eventually become CEO without a shred of post-high school education? That takes some serious clawing and backstabbing. At first when I met her, I had thought to give her a chance. I thought my wife's tales of how horrible it was to grow up with this manipulative twerp was over-exaggerated and just "kid" stuff. I was WRONG. Dead wrong. What's worse, is that she taught her (2) daughters to be equally as cruel, manipulative, and two-faced as she is. It's a real family affair now. As for my wife's parents, they are much like Louis Lane....they see what they want to see, and trying to tell them of how horrible this woman has been to my wife, myself, and our son has been like talking to a brick wall. We were made out to be liars, etc. My wife was told by her father that I'm no longer welcome in their home anymore because I dared to speak the truth about how we'd been treated, and defend myself and my family. My wife was shocked. My F-I-L can have those poseurs!!!! He's an old man (nearly 90), and I've asked my wife, "Who do you think is going to come wipe his behind and change his diapers? When the time comes, tell him to have the favored daughter (narcissist) come do it, because I no longer give a sh*t." Ha! The only thing the sister-in-law will come around for is to put him in a home and clean out the house for herself.
So, we did the only thing we knew to do when presented with a no-win situation like this; when dealing with a sociopath such as this, it is best to remove them from your life and have ZERO contact with them. I/we have, and the last 5 years have been swell, let me tell you. They can squirm around in their own self-made dramas, and we can no longer be blamed for a single problem dealing with them. F'em! But I tell you, I learned my lesson. Up until this point in my life, I hadn't encountered someone as severe as my S-I-L. It was really shocking to see how she really was behind the crocodile smile.
