My last door knock from a JW was about 9 years ago. It happened to be a nice lady who's daughter I grew up with. The daughter got a "worldly" boyfriend at age 19. She was promptly DF'd. She married him. They'd been married 10 years. I point blank asked this mother how shunning her own daughter for 10 years for doing nothing except being a normal human being desiring love and affection, was working out for her? I also asked her why we were standing there, as I was promised as a young child that I wouldn't grow old in this System of Things, have a job, a car, a mortgage, children? I said, "It's 2009, and I have ALL of those things, so doesn't that make the WT liars and false prophets?" All I got back was her eyes on the ground, a dejected look, and stunned silence. She looked haggard. I felt sorry for her. -

The cleaning bug
by Steel ini have a wife that literally cleans the house 24 7. it's hard on our marriage, our son has no natural affection for her.
if we go to an assembly she literally spends two days waxing and polishing the car.
she hand washes all the clothes before go into the washing machine because no machine could ever do as good a job as her.

I clean my house, cars, etc as well. My wife does the laundry and a little dusting. It truly is from my JW up-bringing. I also can't stand to see things out of order. It's a form of OCD, I have no doubt about it.
As for your wife hand washing the clothes before she puts them into the washing machine, well that's a whole other level of "sick". She has an extreme form of OCD, and you should seek therapy and treatment for her immediately. Constant 24/7 cleaning like that (not merely picking up around the house) is also symptom of extreme OCD behaviour. Seek out help for her ASAP.

How about prayers being used as a talk?
by NikL inanother thread on here made me think of it.. its a personal peeve of mine.. you bow your head in prayer and the brother says thinks like thank you for the lessons we learned today like bla bla bla and for that wonderful point about yadda yadda yadda.
jehovah we know that etc etc etc therefore we must...well you get the gist.and on and on it goes.
absolutely drives me mad..

I've felt that way for a loooooooong time. As a child, it was torture, pure torture, to have to sit thru DAYS of boredom at a hot DC in a venue like The Vet, only to be treated to a 10-minute unending prayer on the last day. Pure torture. What, you're gonna get more everlasting life cause you laid it on thick to the man in charge at some DC in 1983? Sure.

20,000 different sects, but only a handful of CULTS claim to have absolute "Truth" under penalty of total annihilation if you are wrong. Guess which ones?

Your work is not in vain! Thank You!
by de-opresso-liber inbeen lurking since early this year.
there are many of us out there (at least in this area, central u.s.) who are waking up and crossing the line to talk to each other about it.
in our area, several elders, ministerial servants and pioneers are actively and openly sharing info with each other daily.

Are you and your wife born-ins, or converts? Just curious. Welcome!

My Story
by SamTheGinge inso, i joined just yesterday after coming across this forum looking at beth sarim, and i though that i would share my story with you.
it will no doubt be very similar to a lot of others, but it's a way of getting to know me at least.. i was brought up as witness from the age of 4 years old, my dad picked up the 'truth' from one of his friends in the pub and it seemed to go from there, he would quickly get baptised and progress to becoming a ministerial servant and then an elder.
from a young age i wanted to be like my dad and become a pioneer, a ministerial servant and then an elder... perhaps even becoming a co. the world, spiritually speaking, was my oyster.

Question: What sort of message does this send to your children, that you allow your father to treat you as a 2nd class citizen, and openly disrespect you in such a fashion?
Families are a package deal. Not willing to accept your life decisions? Want to shun you, yet still expect you to serve up your children to be brainwashed at their convenience to also eventually disrespect you? I'd tell that azzhat to promptly go get fugged!! And I'm not just saying that, I had similar happen to me and that's EXACTLY what I did. No one shits on me, then gets to still see my children.
I would NEVER let a brainwashed cult member around my young children unattended. EVER. They will do everything in their power to indoctrinate them with their bullshit, and drive to divide and conquer.

My Ex Wife Admitted She Doesnt Believe It's The Truth
by pale.emperor inmy ex-wife actually opened up to me today over the phone.
she was quite anxious and, i could sense, i little upset.
for those that dont know my situation im separated from my wife.

Look at the positive Pale Emperor: You may in fact be able to salvage a working, amicable, parental relationship with your ex-wife, in order to raise your daughter up properly. Your wife may very well tire of the JW BS, leave, and things may turn out all right, with you actually being friendly with her in the long run. (friends, nothing more.)

Disassociation revealed what type of man my father really is.
by Paul Mooney ini began my exit from the jehovah’s witness organization about 5 years.
i was a 4th generation born-in, with all the baggage that comes with having the “spiritual heritage” attached to the group.
i was an elder/bethelite/pioneer/whatever other useless privilege there was, i had no family or friends outside of the organization… my entire life was that org.

Makes me really wonder, just how many more trapped and enslaved people like this are still in the WT Cult.

We are STRONG, NOT Weak!!!
by Divergent intoday's text:.
thursday, october 20. assist those who are weak.—acts 20:35.. you may know from personal experience that it can take time to recover from a debilitating physical illness.
similarly, a christian who has been weakened by personal difficulties or very trying circumstances may need time to regain spiritual strength.

Yes, yes.....the JW's just have to keep telling themselves that they are "Strong" and everyone else is "weak."
Saying the same thing over and over again doesn't make it true.....unless you're in a mind-controlling cult. Then it's repetition for emphasis.
