Oh....oh! You want to hear about a JW funeral experience? Well, I went to one in 2008 of a very popular Elder who had owned a construction type business and employed some JW's who met an unexpected death on a worksite. Anyway, this funeral was HUGE!! They talked about his life growing up, how he was a star basketball player in high school, (everyone else was forbidden), organized Congregation baseball and basketball games (I didn't even know about them, much less invited by him), etc, etc for 25 minutes! Then they started in on the standard JW infomercial. Oh! And before all that started there was a family "Condolences Line" I guess you'd call it, where his family was meeting people coming in. So his mom was a long-time JW, and his business partner brother was NOT. Anyway, when I got to his mom, I hugged her and she told me I just HAD to come back, and then proceeded to place the "Bible Teach" book with me like I was some schmuck who hadn't been born into the religion. I was floored. The worldly brother must have seen my face, cause we met eyes and he rolled his like, "oh brother, let this all end!" Afterwards, there was a HUGE reception/wake at a separate venue!!!! I didn't bother to go in, cause there was such a hoop-n-hollering going on (like some kind of party?!?!?) that I was disgusted and left. I saw several "worldly" people I knew at the funeral who later told me it was the most awkward and disgusting funeral they had ever attended, what with the "WT Infomercial" thrown in. I agreed. Me, I was pissed hearing how this Elduh had gotten away with basically being totally worldly as a youth (even playing sports!!!) and then somehow made it big in JW-Land, becoming Presiding Overseer even! So live the life as a youth, then denounce and forbid it from the platform as the PO? What a hypocrite!!!!! I was soooooo pissed off when I left that day. And to think; his grieving mother was placing literature at her son's funeral? Fuggin' disgusting!!!!!

Work Colleague Went To a JW Funeral - His Experience
by pale.emperor inso the guy in my office on the desk next to me has just got back from the funeral of his wifes sister.
this was his first time in a kh and full on exposure to jwdom.. bit of background: the deceased jw was not a born in, she was a convert when she was in her teens.
she died last week at the age of 82. the poor old dear was still zealously knocking on doors while in ill health.

Chapter 50 New Boy 50 years a Watchtower slave
by new boy inchapter 50. life after death.
since i had been in a religion that was focused on death.
it was now time to focus on life.. the wonderful line from shawshank redemption says it so well.

I agree with above. The baby probably died due to the hesitation and delay to give the required blood transfusion at the proper time. GOD isn't to blame, the idiocy and Pharasitical rules of the JW's are to blame!!!!
You can be sure this woman ran far away from her dumbass husband, as well as the dumbass JW's.

Truly, "Babylon the Great, Has Fallen!"
I'm an "80's Kid" as well. I am 38. I totally feel ya........2017, almost 2018, and here we still are? Incredible. My JW parents and all the other older ones they studied with? ALL DEAD. I'm still here, and I have a 13 yr old son who's never seen the inside of a Kingdumb Hell. Probably never will. Never thought I'd be pushing 40 on THIS side of New Order!!!!! Never thought I'd see past 2014 in this System of Things. It's surreal seeing the sign come down.....like, WTF?? That was never supposed to happen. Maybe they'll move the sign and put it up across the lake from the new WT HQ?? Hmmmmmmm............

"Dis-fellowshipping" is really just a control tactic that uses intimidation to force compliance to the Cult. There is no "free will" in a cult. Period.

Good experience to relate.
I've got to admit, on 9/11, I absolutely DID NOT think it was the start of Armageddon. Not at all. Why? Because the events of the Great Tribulation had not even transpired yet. Maybe the START of the Great Tribulation, but certainly NOT Armageddon. Guess I just wasn't eager enough????? More like, just physically out for nearly 6 years by that point.

So my PIMO Younger Brother Tried To Kill Himself Today
by pale.emperor inwe all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.
he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.
he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.

I forget, are you in the USA, or not? In the USA, you'd have the right to kick out anyone NOT related or family! Those HLC guys would have been booted out of the hospital!! The freakin' BALLS those two had!!
Let me tell ya something, my late JW mother was a Registered Nurse for 35 years, nearly 10 of them in a hospital psych ward. Guess how many JW's had nervous breakdowns, suicide attempts, drug/alcohol problems, etc? TONS!!!!!! In fact, JW's had a disproportionate amount of psych patients. Mormons too! My mom really had an "awakening" working on that ward. God's happiest people, my ass!!!!!! So you see, it is NOT something YOU did.....it is all on the JW Cult!!! They tear families apart and drive people nearly insane. My mom's experience on the psych ward proves it!!!!!

She had a hard life to be sure, but she also sounds like a covert narcissist, or at least NPD.
Classic signs are: lack of empathy, a "pity me" attitude, favourtism towards children (Golden Child vs Scapegoat), needs to be center of attention, drama queen, never wrong, has to have their own way, martyrdom complex.
Yep, probably a narcissist.

Facing My Mortality And Becoming A Donor
by pale.emperor inthis thread is quite morbid so i apologize in advance.. a few days ago i was having a conversation with my girlfriend in which she mentioned in passing that she's signed up to donate her organs after her death.
i was quite surprised because she mentioned it like it was no big deal.
i asked her which organs.
-
WingCommander
I also am an organ donor. In the USA's quite simple. When you go to renew your driver's license, they put it on.
My mother needed an organ transplant. She got it, but unfortunately it did not take and she died 3 months later after severe complications. However, without the transplant she would have certainly died anyway. It gave her one more chance than she had. Also, she had a high survival rate. It was just a fluke.....a failure of the new organ to function properly.
