Ya know......WatchTower has become so much like Mormons over the years, that I wonder if they instituted a 2-4 year ministry program like the Mormons, if that would keep the youth out of college while encouraging more reaching out, etc?
Lett's look at what WatchTower has already adopted from the Mormons over the years, shall we?
1. Body of 12 Apostles: AKA, "The Governing Body" in JW-Land
2. Dressing like 1950's vacuum or encyclopedia salesman. Now, somewhat eliminated. Adopted more casual stance, JUST like the Mormons already did a few years back!
3. Allowing beards. Again, Mormons relaxed this.
4. Family Worship Night: Stolen directly from the Mormons.
5. Website. Mormons did it first.
6. Caleb & Sophia cartoon series. Mormons did it first.
7. Real Estate holdings/investments. Mormons (and Scientology) beat them to it, but they're catching on fast!
8. Multimedia bullshit. Scientology was King of this for a good long while, but Mormons and JW's are fast catching on.
9. Investment portfolio's in offshore holdings. (Ireland) Mormons are already the richest religion (CULT) in the world. WT HQ has decided they need to cash in on that pie!
So as we can see, WT has never really had an original idea all of their own, they just look around and see what works and adopt it. Even doctrine. CT Russell didn't come up with a damn original thought of his own - NOTHING! He borrowed from the Adventist Movement, the Freemasons, the Quakers, the Christadelphians, and various occult quackery that was going on all around Pennsylvania at the time. Yes, even the pyramidology and numerology was "borrowed" from other people and sources. He threw in all the ingredients he liked into the pot like soup, and wha-laa! The Bible Students were born. Bum Rutherford mixed up the ingredients and changed the name, but it's still the same basic bullshit, but with a slightly different taste.

Your post (and similar from others in the past) has 1000% confirmed to me just what for twat-waffles are on Elduh Bodies. Absolutely ZERO "Holy Spirit" involved in the selection process. Hell, "prayerful consideration" is right out the window even. It's all about time slips, appearances, and licking the current Elduh Bodies assholes clean.
They can't see a guy's wife's curves enough? But if "too much", than she's some Jezebel, right? They don't like that a guy has (1) hobby outside of door-knocking, and REALLY don't like when he focuses on himself to keep healthy (gym) and not look like your typical Elduh fat balding slob? The horror!

But ya know what, I'm not shocked. Not at all. Want to hear my experience with the JW's flavour of "Christian Love?"
When my late JW mother (of 20+ years of JW service) was lying in a hospital dying, I called up our Presiding Overseer at the time. I was sitting alone in my car in the University hospital parking garage. My mother's death was inevitable, and I was calling to ask if he could travel to see her to offer spiritual support, kindness, etc. Up until this point, I had no problems with this Elder. Nice guy. Family man. Fairly popular. You want to know what this heartless bastard said to me in my time of need, one of the saddest and lowest points of my life? He told me that I was interrupting his dinner, and that since I was outside of the territory that I should call the local Congregation and seek their assistance. He then promptly hung up on me before I could even pick my jaw up off the floor to respond. DIAL TONE. No words of sympathy, compassion, or scriptures cited. Just, "What do you want, don't you know you're interrupting my dinner?"
This was in stark contrast to my mother's so-called "worldly" co-workers (RN's in the medical field) who upon speaking to me earlier that same day, notified me that they'd be down the next day, which happened to be my mother's last full day on earth. The took off work, rented a van, and drove down to visit her for a good part of the day. They brightened her up immensely, and even bought me lunch and helped to console me. They later came to her funeral. Then, they organized a small memorial at the hospital in her honour, and planted a tree with a bench and plaque in her honour for her 35 years of nursing service.
So who really are the "true Christians" in the above experience? Sure as shit not the JW's! These assholes kicked me while I was down and couldn't have cared less. This was truly, truly, the last straw for me. I'd been physically out for a good 10+ years at this point, but this experience really put me over, showed me they really didn't give 1 flying fugg about anyone but themselves and their cliques with money. (all the Elduh's owned businesses and employed mostly pauper JW's)
PLOT TWIST: 1 year later this same heartless Elduh died in a freak construction site accident. (Where was God's divine protection?) I attended his funeral. (he didn't attend either of my parents) It was another nail in the coffin. How so? Huge attendance. There was a family greeting line. (I've never seen this at a JW funeral) Huge wake afterward. (I didn't attend that) The real kicker: This Elduh didn't get the 5 minutes about himself treatment, plus 45 minute WT infomercial. Nah. He got a good 30 minutes where I was told all of the things that made him appear basically "normal" AKA "worldly" to appease the large audience in attendance. That he played basketball in high school, organized Congregation basketball and baseball games, etc. etc. Ya know, outtings my family were NEVER invited to. Never mind the hypocrisy that I and other youth were denied playing sports in school......but this clown got to do it all and THEN be appointed an Elduh and PO? I've never left a funeral MAD before......but there it is! Fuck these hypocritical douchebags, and fuck the cult known as JW's!

Any "creative writing" died in 1992 with Frederick W. Franz. He was "The Oracle", and wrote massive amounts of doctrine over DECADES at WT HQ. Probably 90% at least, specifically the types and anti-types BS that has recently just been tossed by GB2.0 as if it was dirty bathwater, never to be heard from again.
Now I want you all to think about this; DECADES of "Divinely Inspired New Light" that was studied week in, week out, for decades upon decades in countless rainbow coloured books, completely nullified and voided as if it were nothing. No apologies, no nothing. Just disregard and move on.
If THAT bullshit right there doesn't give anyone with 2 functioning brain cells pause enough to consider this a man-made CULT, I don't know WTF would!
Anyway, you can look back upon the past 33 years and see EXACTLY when the downfall of anything evenly remotely "Academic" or "deep" ended. 1992. Everything after has merely been a re-hashing of FWF's writings and insane ramblings. That, and a complete "dumbing down" of everything due to the fact that uneducated morons are staffing the Writing Dept. Derp-Derp!
So, you went from a huge cache of monthly literature + large format books released yearly, to cartoonish pamphlets and Caleb and Sophia cartoons. Splane is about the only one even trying to put something out, and that's just "Overlapping Generations Chart" made up bullshit. And that was what, 10 years ago already? The real estate part has been up and running for about 10 years now. WT HQ owns EVERYTHING. All property and bank accounts.
What they are most concerned about now is their new Investment Portfolio's in Ireland and the managing and profiting off of them thereof. They (and the Mormons) could have every member walk away tomorrow, and their status and Cult HQ's would be able to live like Kings for the next 100 years off the interest alone from these investment portfolios.
The only thing that will truly bring them down? Death by 1,000 lawsuits and media exposure, leading to actual criminal charges and incarceration of the leadership. Think Jeff Warrens of the FLDA. His ass is warming a prison cell.....probably forever. I try to picture the Governing Body behind bars and it just brings a smile to my face. Why the backpedaling after years of videos showing them basically being worshiped and celebrated when they'd arrive at International Conventions, Assemblies, etc with greeting lines, photo lines, green handshakes, etc?
The answer is simple, and I've been saying this for a long time now. This Org is completely on the defensive. Every single thing they put out for consumption by the rank-n-file Sheeple is completely reactionary. They are never PRO-active, they are RE-active. Ex-members were pointing out this blatant idolatry to their still PIMI friends and family, and it finally got back to the WT HQ how it looked, and hence the warning against it. (all in the name of humility of course. lol)
Basically, their IT trolls who comb thru these forums compiling the grievances of the ex-members put forth a list to them of the top stuff ex-members are bringing to the forefront of the public and PIMQ members.
So, in response, we have the following changes, almost directly in response to former (and still in) members "murmuring":
1. TOMO 3 tossed out on his ass after "BottleGate" and many, MANY other public displays of arrogance and drunkenness. (including at WT HQ)
2. Dress and Grooming. Beards and slacks for women now allowed, ties and suits not even necessary, no more dressing like 1950's vacuum salesman.
3. Loosening of how to treat / greet DF'd ones. Yes, gotta at least treat these ones as human in hopes of gaining them back because their money is just as good as any "adherent" in good standing.
4. Jesus video series. Gotta at least give the IMPRESSION of giving Jesus the lip service treatment, even though we all know The Governing Body is running this show. By putting out this series, they can still at least claim to be "Christian" while selling off Kingdom Halls and raking in profits on real estate and Investment Portfolios and Hedge Funds.
5. Notice how Robert Hendricks got "the boot" from the Public Information Department (PID) (for having an affair, lol) and we haven't heard a peep about his replacement? Notice how all that BS got shut down and we don't see jack shit from them? Recently, a letter from WT HQ went around to even the Convention Committee's basically shutting down all public statements, etc. The message from WT HQ: "STFU! You're making us look bad!" It's true.....every time Hendricks or one of his clowns opened their mouths, it gave the ex-JW movement more ammunition. Better to say nothing and appear impotent, than open your mouth and appear the fool. SPOILER ALERT: They're both.
What will the future hold? My guess: Birthdays first, and then possibly light holidays like Thanksgiving and (gasp!) then even Christmas, as long as no one is going overboard. Eventually..........everyone gets a Heavenly Hope......144,000 will be "figurative" just like Christendom. Don't worry, The Governing Body will always be in charge as "The Faithful and Discreet Slave."

Age Appropriate Friends
by Riley inwe have a 25 year guy in our hall who is also a pioneer (which means he lives off his parents money), who likes to spend a lot of time with a 16 year old girl in the hall.
it is usually in a group setting but he seems to gravitate toward her.
he even has her auxilary pioneering , which is something i don't think any student trying to make the grades needs.
