sunday, may 18th was my big day.
i decided to go to beth sarim, home of the princes and ancient worthies.
so i loaded up the truck and rolled out, wondering what do you do when you meet someone so ancient that the roman empire was a mere twinkling in jehovah's eye.
Do you want to know the most ironic thing of all???
Now, think about this.....how many real JW's have actually knocked on this householder's door to preach the good news to them, without ever knowing that house's history?? I mean, that has got to be priceless.....here you are, a young or newly converted JW, and you are working the territory. You think, "Damn, that's a big house, maybe I'll claim it for myself after the Big A, but for now I'll go up and try to place some literature."

(Which was awesome by the way) Anyway, as I am standing in line waiting my turn, whom do I see turn to leave? Why, a former elder from my congregation! I say former, as there is no way this guy is still in “The Lie”. As a matter of fact, I think he’s DF’d. When the first X-men movie came out, I saw him in the movie theater. I knew then something was up. This guy is weird…. he always looks down, as he probably has low self-esteem. I mean, he’s probably late 30’s and he married a girl that was right out of high school. Yuck! – for her! Apparently that didn’t last…..maybe he had DWS (Dinky Wang Syndrome) because the girl (whom was quite bright) divorced his sorry ass.
It’s not like I give a crap, but it’s just the very idea of seeing someone whom you knew was so high and mighty….at a seemingly “normal” worldly function. I immediately thought of, “Oh, how the mighty have fallen!”
Did I mention Van Halen was awesome? Yeah, Diamond David Lee Roth kicks ass! I’ve seen them 3 times before, but this was by far the best. If you like them at all, you gotta see them in concert.

a close friend studies with one of the jw's.
during one of their recent studies, my friend raised the topic of wt contradictions (flip-flops) using the classic resurrection (or not) of the ancient ones from sodom and gomorrah.
one can show where there are 7 flip-flops on this doctrine.
"20 Fundemental Teachings" - Wow.....never heard of this before. In all honesty, this sounds like a Seventh Day Adventist term. I mean, they have the 28 Fundementals that they go by.
Never heard of a "standard 20" that JW's go by.
Hope your friend sees through "The Lie".

Man, what a yawnfest. Does anyone besides the Bible Students still follow ol CTR? I mean...c'mon...the guys been dead since Halloween 1912 or something.
Once I saw the old newsreel of him explaining how the passages of the Great Pyramid of Geza some how add up to 1914 AD he lost all credability to me. Then, once I started researching him and how he "borrowed" his beliefs from the Second Adventists and SDA's I knew he was just another false prophet with good intentions. Yeah, I think he had good intentions...and is probably right about the Trinity, hellfire, etc. I mean, he celebrated the holidays and b-days, so he mustn't have been a total party crasher.

Dude, you have got some SERIOUS problems here. The first problem that I see is that YOU are not the HEAD of YOUR household!! If your wife has the gall to report you to the Elder's for simply using the "F" word, then SHE is the one wearing the pants in your household. By JW standards, this is incorrect. It's time for you to install your long-overdue headship upon her, and let her know that reporting such trivial crap the Elder's will not be tolerated by you. If she does do this, and they come to speak to you about things, ask them if they have a 2nd witness to her allegations? Also, I'd let them know that interferring with your family headship isn't appreciated and also ask them if they have anything better to do than being the cuss-patrol? I bet that will shut them up!!
Secondly, try your damndest to get your wife on some kind of medication - this is no way to live. Obsessive compulsive disorder and manipulative personalities run hand in hand with bi-polar and manic-depressive disorders - trust me - I KNOW.
Other good things would be to encourage more of her hobbies, interests, extra-jw-cirriculum interests. Try and plan alot more family oriented activities AWAY from the KH activities, JW in-laws, etc. Once the stress is off of her she may change quicker than you think.

Yes, and apple is still an apple, but what if you are color-blind? Your perception of the apple is then very different, isn't it? Can you tell if it is a yellow or green apple?

the word, of course, is epiphany.
my first was the "simple and striking" realization that i was in a manipulative religous cult.
Uh yeah, I had some of those same feelings after I watched, "Witnesses of Jehovah" on youtube for the very first time. I had been reading up on JW's on the internet for a while, but viewing this video and seeing it all come together really made me physically ill. I saw it around 2006, and knowing that this information had been out there all along and that my parents never got to see it made me sick again.
It was eye opening, it was an awakening, physically painful experience - realizing you were raised in a cult - a real moment of WTF?
