What’s Your View On Self Defense?
by minimus inif someone comes to you with a knife or a gun, would you defend yourself if you could?
if someone tried to beat you up , would you physically engage, run away or just try to talk the person out of beating you up or robbing you?
if you did have a gun to defend yourself would you shoot to kill or would you simply aim for the ankle to incapacitate the person?

by Slidin Fast inso, in the uk, during the early stages of covid there was a groundswell of appreciation for the nhs for their front-line sacrifice.
this was crystallised into a regular clapping/whistling/noise making session every thursday at 8pm.. "harmless" you would have thought, "a gesture of appreciation", "what could possibly be wrong with joining in on that innocent activity?".
well, the co during his recent rounds had a different view.

Do You Tip At Eateries?
by minimus inif you go to a restaurant, do you tip and typically how much?
if you were given a 90 minute time frame to eat at a restaurant, would that restriction limit your tipping to the waitress or waiter?.
also if you order a coffee and donut and pick it up, do you contribute to the “tip jar” that’s on the counter?

Eateries? Yes. Coffee shops like Starbucks? NO. I typically give 20% tip as well. I don't at Starbucks because their pricing is already outlandish rip-off for what you are getting. Would you tip at McDonald's? NO! Now, a locally owned coffee shop? Yes.

Aussie covid situation I got vaccinated anyone else?
by Witness 007 inrecord 747,000 new cases yesterday but in australia we have no new infections except people flying into quarantine from other countries.
we are 116th with 29,000 confirmed cases.
i work in a hospital so received astra zenica vaccine 2 weeks ago with no bad symptoms.

i have had many insensitive things said to me by some elders, but for some reason one self-righteous elder was always on my case.
he didn't like the fact that i missed meetings, didn't like that i never went out in field service, that i didn't answer at the weekly meetings and he didn't like that i carried my books and magazines in my hands and not a service/book bag.

So many experiences on here.......I have many myself. But I think the most common thing I've heard Elduhzzzz say to people, especially those down, having health problems, etc is:
"Don't you know that there are people worse off then you?" - A complete waving off of YOUR problems, belittlement.
"You need to pray more, attend all the meetings, and be more regular in the Field Ministry" - like that's the magic cure-all for whatever ails you!

No f**ks given. I'm not British, so I don't give 2 shits about the Royal Family. Couldn't care less. It's an outdated and should be abolished. Megan and Harry are adults; they can go where they want, live where they want. The Queen doesn't like it? F**k her. Harry served his country in the Army, so I can respect that. They're making their own living. I can respect that. As long as they stay our of the US politics and keep their dumb mouths shut, I'm fine with that. I don't want to hear their (or any other celebrity) opinions on how I should live, etc.

JW Net and Politics
by snare&racket inthis site was and remains instrumental in assisting people that want to leave the jw's.. there has been political discussion here for some time now, a good couple of years and it makes me feel a little uneasy.
i just opened up the site for the first time in some weeks, of the 10 posts being discussed, 4 were by the same poster, about politics, promoting their right wing beliefs.. this has been the trend for some time now, the same name behind a peppering of posts stirring the right v left of politics.. i remain forever grateful to the site and it's founders simon & angharad, i appreciate that simon shares some of these these political beliefs.
it would be a shame to see the site evolve from a place for jw freedom of thought and escape, to political squabbling, that the world is frankly tired of right now.. just to clarify, politics is my hobby, whilst my friends read the football scores, i'm reading polling data.

There should be a "Political" sub on here like there is for other topics. I've been saying for years now that the political posts are honestly not in the spirit of this forum, shouldn't even be brought up, and are quite frankly scaring away any new prospective members of this forum. They're all flocking to the Ex-JW Reddit forum, where those posts are pretty much nuked from the start. I've been on here since 2002. I've been on Ex-JW Reddit forum about 3 years. Both have their pluses and minuses.

Greatest golfer of all-time. He was totally "handled" by his father though, and once his father died he was without direction and went totally off the rails. He's kinda slimeball in real life, honestly.
Fun Fact: My wife once worked for a company that made outwear for all the PGA Golfers. Like at tournaments. They made all of he rain jackets to measurements. Tiger Woods has the smallest wrists of any golfer, and it was speculated that that is one of the reasons his swing was so unique and smooth. He's done a lot over the years after his accidents to improve his upper body strength, to as to put more power behind his swing and build up to compensate for his back. Now, he f**ked up his right leg. Much like Jordan, he's so competitive that he may not allow himself to be "done" and retired just yet. He has a year of recovery until we see him back in competitive form.
I know it's stereotype, but the "Asian" in him doesn't allow him to drive like a sane human being. He drives like a fuggin' nut. He's had so many speeding tickets, I can't believe he has a license. His "celebrity privilege" has taken him far. I honestly couldn't give 2 shits what he does. He's not my cup-o-tea. Like I said, great abilities, shitty human being. Just ask his ex-wife. She'll tell ya!
