  "scholar" is a JW who gullibly believes the WT Society can do no wrong. He goes beyond that and insists on saying some things that the WTS has never claimed. He says, for example, that the members of the New World Translation Committee "cannot" be known. He is totally incapable of accepting the fact that the members of the JW Governing Body and some others at WT headquarters were privy to who served on the Committee. When I was at Bethel, questions came in from JWs and others regarding various renderings in the translation. Those questions were almost always passed on to the NWT Committee for answers. The WT writers themselves were free to consult the Committee for clarification of translation matters. As a member of the Governing Body and of the GB's Writing Committee, and being related to a member of the Committee, Ray Franz was aware of information about the Committee more than some others. Perhaps "scholar" has convinced himself that the NWT Committee can't be known, but persons not so misinformed and who are not mesmerized by the WT Society are able to accept the facts when they are presented.

  then this is only underscores the fact that the identity of the committee was inknown and unknowable.

  This kind of logic underscores the fact that you are not a scholar and that you don't reason like one. There is no way that intelligent persons can deal with such lack of common sense other than to ignore it.

  Your reference to a so-called "Deed of Arrangement" illustrates plainly that you are merely playing a guessing game. As Odrade has pointed out, such a deed has reference to financial matters.

  Many people at Bethel were involved in the NWT project from its iinception and so was the rumour mill working overtime.

  You are greatly mistaken. There were not "many people at Bethel" involved. And there was no rumor mill, since comparatively few were aware that there was such a project. The Bethel "family" was just as surprised in 1950 at the release of the NWT as were the JW rank and file outside of Bethel. You know so little about it, yet you make great claims.

  I wonder how dense you can possibly be! I have NOT said I do not know the identity of the committee. I would be lying if I said that. How can it possibly be "speculation, rumour or gossip" if some of us in this forum were there and saw the members with our own eyes? We saw and lived with those who served as their secretaries, those who drove them to 1111 Woodrow Road on Staten Island where they did their "translation" work, those who brought them their food from the Bethel kitchen, those who hand-delivered mail to them from the President's office and from others, the one who set the type on the linotype machines, the ones who put the pages together with lead type, etc. So how can you say that what we know is of little significance? What we know is not enough for you. What is sufficient for you is your dream world fantasy that "The committee's identity is UNKNOWN AND UNKNOWABLE."

  An excellent idea. Some of us who worked as "the Bethel janitor or housekeeper" are in a far better position than you to say who worked on the NWT. We were there, but obviously you were not. Some of us were the Bethel chauffer, the Bethel meal carrier, the Bethel gardener, the assistant to the Bethel receptionist, the Bethel internal mailman, the Bethel compositor, the Bethel pressman, etc. We have memories that you do not.

  Your comments about Ray Franz indicate that you could also learn far, far more than you know from "the Bethel janitor or housekeeper" about the inner workings of the JW governing body. Then you would be inclined to acknowledge that Ray knows much more from his own personal experiences at Bethel than you know by gullibly swallowing the line fed to the public by the WTS.
