Isn't it a bit unfair, to say the least, to condemn the teachings of Jesus? Were those people really his genuine followers who persecuted one another in later centuries?
The framers of the American Constitution did a marvelous job in setting forth guidelines on how good government should function. Here we are a little over 200 years later, and it requires extreme vigilance on the part of decent people to protect those original and fundamental guidelines from being overruled and destroyed. It seems to me that in a less civilized society such as existed in the Roman empire, deterioration in Christian living and practice could and probably did occur a lot faster.
Wherever nations have had a high regard for the Bible, civilization has advanced. That is the clear record of history. Some see the current worldwide deterioration of society as a product of the Bible's abandonment in most so-called Christian nations. Other religions have done very little to uplift their people. History tells us that the greatest artists, musicians, scientists, writers and thinkers have arisen in countries where Christ has been respected and honoured. However, history also shows that religions that claim to follow the Bible but that actually disregard it have done great harm. Improved personal, family, community and national life are all the proof anyone should need that the Bible has power to make lives better.

There's one teaching the JWs have right, mainly because they lifted it from the Bible: We become what we feed our minds. For example, persons don't become better people by filling their minds with pornography, violence, hate literature or soap operas. It usually takes study and diligent work at it in order to cultivate a better mind and to be able to exercise proper discernment in most matters of life.
I know what you mean about the attacks on the Bible that frequently appear in this forum. Those people have the right to be heard. But we also have the right to spend our time in the examination of much better stuff. The Bible has been attacked by people since before the days it was completed. Jesus condemned the scribes and Pharisees because of their lack of belief and for depending instead upon their own ideas and philosophies. As long as this world lasts there will be ridiculers and infidels. In the long run, however, the Bible always ends up being vindicated. Thousands if not millions of its enemies have yelled and shouted and screamed against it, but it's still thriving as the greatest book ever written.

No one can scripturally make a strong case against what you've said. In the final analysis it is God and Christ who will be our judges. None of us has the right to condemn persons who have different beliefs than we do unless those beliefs are harmful to society, such as some of the simply awful teachings of the JWs.
That being said, we are admonished in the Scriptures to seek for truth. We were warned that there would be false prophets and false teachers. Jesus, the apostles and others were willing to give up their lives in defense of what they firmly believed was the truth of God. Men and women have given their lives for less worthy causes as well. Taking advantage of the freedom of expression is pretty tame by comparison. Most freedom advocates think it ought to be encouraged, not opposed, unless it starts to become too personal, vindictive, and hateful.

Some among us were atheists at one time and are now believers. A former atheist who is a close friend of mine was a mathematics professor at Princeton. It was the study of math and astronomy that led him to a belief in God. Two other close friends were involved in space research until their retirement. They too became convinced, due to their studies in math, science and astronomy, that God exists. Examining matters mathematically and scientifically, all three have faith in the Bible but not in the Trinity. Not all scientists become believers, of course, but the fact that some do illustrates the fact that atheism and rejection of the Bible aren't the only alternatives for those with an inquiring and honest mind.

I was a JW for many years. I've lived near Bethel all my life and was a Bethelite for many years. Yes, there are some paintings of Bible scenes with Jesus in them. This is also true at some or all of the WT's assembly halls, farms and foreign branches. According to my best recollection, Jesus began appearing in some murals and paintings in the 1960s.

as i remember, both greenlees and chitty have been exposed as such.. now there are accusations that ted jaracz is also.. ask yourself something: how did jaracz get to be at the top of a "christian" organization when almost nothing about his personality reflects anything that is christian?

What, then, do we do? Do we segregate all men from women and children? The vast majority of all societies in this world are patriarchal. Do we accuse all men of being pedophiles simply because some men are? It seems you are saying all JW men are pedophiles, so no harm is done in accusing three GB men of being so. Or, you are saying a sufficient number of them are pedophiles, and that validates a charge against all of them.
I fail to see your point. The fact remains that in all just societies, all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty. It seems to me that you feel, instead, that persons are guilty merely because someone says they are, even without presenting any evidence.

I know Jaracz personally, and I was a friend of Greenlees and Chitty, as well as other members of the governing body. I'm no longer a JW, partly because of my disdain for the antics of persons like Jaracz. In fairness, however, I think some folks go a bit too far in their accusations. It hasn't been proven in a court of law or otherwise that Greenlees, Chitty or Jaracz were ever pedophiles. Common decency should convince each one of us that all persons, even alleged murderers and terrorists, ought to be considered innocent until they are proven to be guilty. Would any of us want to go through life having such a terrible false charge hanging over our heads, if indeed we were innocent? There are plenty of things wrong about JWs and the WT Society that should be exposed and condemned. I see no reason why anyone should feel the need to invent additional crimes for which there isn't a shred of proof. When we do such things, we show ourselves worthy of the same condemnation we're trying to pin on the persons we've accused. Additionally, we end up totally lacking any credibility when we actually have something that should be brought to the attention of the world.

I also illustrated that you haven't been a saint either.
Instead of us holding grudges and accusing one another of being unchristian and unloving, we need to be men enough to get back to the topic we set out to discuss. If others are being critical of us, perhaps we can take a lesson from that. Maybe there's something about our forum etiquette that needs improvement. On the other hand, if they're not specific, and they're not making it clear what's really bothering them, it's probably best to ignore them and do our best to get our message across. That would especially be true if it's quite noticeable that they're just plain ornery and that nothing we do will make them feel any better about us.
