I visited a few times, mainly because I heard they have a great library, and indeed they do. The service was okay, and everybody seemed sincere and friendly, but I still left feeling a bit "empty" due to running into two men who showed no hesitancy in condeming the Bible and those who feel that it's inspired. Once they found out how I felt about it they toned down their criticism, but they seemed to treat me like a child who still has a lot to learn. Mind you, not everybody there was of that mindset, but I stopped going since I didn't want to run into those two again. There is a break-away group that advocates the Bible. Their website is at http://www.biblicalunitarian.com/html/. I've been in touch with them and feel they offer much more of what I was looking for.

Bethel Meals: King, Prince, Pauper
by Stephanus ini remember reading a book on the jws by mainstream christendom author salem kirban, part of a series he did on "cults".
it was written late 60s/early 70s and opened with him on a brooklyn bethel tour.
he stated that the bethelites observed the old saying to"eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper" - he mentioned arriving in the mess hall at "prince-time".. was he observing things correctly about bethel meals, or was he imposing his own ideas on what he saw or was told?

I ate at Bethel for 40 years. The meals got better and better. Nearly all meals were "fit for a king." The food was always fresh, right from the Society's farms, and there was plenty of variety. The evening meals were not as fancy as those at noon, but they were nothing to complain about. I wish I could afford now to eat half as well as I ate all those years. But far, far better then enjoying good wholesome meals 3 times a day is the freedom from organization worship that held me in bondage all those years.

At last I found a way to keep the cat out of the toilet. Now, can somebody tell me how to keep the dog away?

Andi,
I would rather live my life knowing I'm doing right by God than right by a group of men running a business organization that can't follow basic biblical principles of Love.
Well stated. My sentiments too.

Higher Educaton

PS,
No, I haven't set up in business full-time, and I haven't got around to building a website for such a business. I can't afford a laptop at this point, so I take colour printouts of some of the sites I've built to show prospective clients what I can do for them. So far, it's worked for sure in one case and possibly (hopefully) in another.
